This Superman is in a world that has superhero’s in it already. This movie is pulled from multiple comics. You r almost better reading up vs watching. Watch screen crush’s break down to get comics to look up. You don’t have to actually read the comics just google the names and read about the characters
Then watch Superman II with Christopher Reeve. I would follow up with Superman Returns with Brandon Routh, and finally Man of Steel, with Henry Cavill. This will give you a well-rounded look at the way that people have approached the Superman story as well as his origins.
@JohnnyPappas I couldn't agree more. I'd even recommend watching some of the animated Superman films. Within seven months there's plenty of Superman content she can react to
You start where most of us started! I was a kid in 1978 and my family went to see Superman with the one and only Christopher Reeve in the theater. He will always be the benchmark for any Superman character.
David Corenswet, the new Superman Actor, was the one who convince James Gunn to add the trunks back because he believe Superman despite being an OP alien he wants to not be scary looking for the people or even children and the trunks will make him look goofy but at the same time a friendly superhero. Because of that, it sold me. This is the start of DCU so they added the other heroes but won't be much in screentime but just to introduce them but won't be pull the focus away to Superman.
The trunks have been there for over 80 years, not to look goofy but because the suit was supposed to be homemade by Ma Kent who made it like a circus strongman suit. She chose this because those were the best things to move around and be athletic in at the time. Within other retcons or soft reboots it was said that tight cloth next to Superman's body doesn't get as easily damaged. The trunks almost have to be there on a spandex suit for the same reason they were there for circus performers and athletes, because if they're not there, you can see the man's junk. I don't think Supes was going for that sort of look.
Dog = Krypto (been there since 1955). Actually, you don´t need to watch anything before this (necessarily), because this is the definitive new-start of the DCU. But watching the Superman movie from 1978 is a treat.
I recommend the early 2000’s show Smallville. The first 5 seasons were a dawsons creek meets Superman vibe and then the last 5 seasons amps up little by little, bringing in character and expanding it more into general DC stuff. It’d just be for the viewing enjoyment because honestly, this film would be the start, it’s a clean slate.
The change in tone coincides with the start of the MCU. Before then, they were all scared to commit to the comic book genre so they didn't allow him to be in the suit or fly, it had to be the teen drama formula. So the show is everything else about Clark and then the occassional epic glimpse of what he will become. Some trul;y beautiful moments and real genuine acting. James Gunn even agrees that, to date, Michael Rosenbaums Lex Luthor in the show was the best. Very good if you're into that early 2000's Gilmore Girls Supernatural era of television. Enjoy!
As someone who grew up with Superman: The Animated Series and the Justice League: Animated Series, the feel and look of this trailer is exactly what I'd expect if someone were to tell me they were making a live-action version of them. The childhood experiences started flooding back when watching it.
The dog is krypto, at Kryptonian canine who has powers. The robot he was mourning over is kekex, is robotic assistant at his fortress of solitude headquarters. The winged girl is Hawkgirl, a member of the Justice Society. The guy shooting light constructs out of his ring is an intergalactic cop known as a Green Lantern, this one being Guy Gardner. Others that show up on Earth are Hal Jordan and John Stewart. These three lanterns will be in an HBO TV series
Agreed, I was going to suggest these very three. 😊 They are an excellent place to go, for anyone - seasoned trader or otherwise. I'd say All-Star may be more for an avid comics fan, though. It is very big and fantastical, whereas the other two are a little easier (subjectively) for a newcomer. Superman I and II with Chris Reeve, insofar as films for sure. Smallville was good, though 10 seasons is a lot. Superman & Lois just ended, but they were excellent - Tyler Hoechlin will go down as an A-quality Clark and Superman, all day long. Don't overlook all the animated shows and movies! There's been some real bangers - DC has done excellent animated stories. I don't think you "need" anything - Gunn I'm sure will be making this in equal measure, for general audiences and lifelong fans. It's never a bad thing to see more Superman stuff, though! 😊
I'm sure this has been said 50 times in the first 132 comments but- WATCH Superman, 1978 with Christopher Reeve. There are tons of iterations worthy of review, but THAT is the quintessential Big Screen Superman. Period.
No homework required but as far as animated movies go All Star Superman is my favorite. About comics: My two favorites are “Superman smashes the Klan” and “Superman: Up in the Sky”
Oooh my sister Nic loved superman xx I've seen all/most superman media! I have super fond memories of Smallville! It's a fun teen/college version of Clark. There is also Lois and Clark tv show? And the classic movies probably, Christopher reeves one. PS, I also loved Supergirl.
i loved this trailer , i loved to see your reactions on this trailer and specially to hear your thoughts about this trailer . i wish you , everyone that is important to you and everyone to see my comment a good rest of Christmas
"Superman" (1978) is his first big screen outing. Obviously some of the effects etc. are "of their time" but it'll give you an idea of the character and Christopher Reeve _is_ Superman for many people (me included). Or "Superman and Lois" features the Superman (and Lois :) that first appeared on "Supergirl" so you may already be familiar with them - you could dip into the first few episodes to get a feel.
Honestly, the best places to start with Superman just to get some version of the basics are probably...any of these in no particular order: Superman: The Animated Series (if you want a really solid and consistent cartoon) Superman: Man of Tomorrow (if you want a modern animated superhero movie) Superman: The Movie (if you like classic movies) My Adventures With Superman (if you like...for lack of a better term, "American-produced anime") Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (if you like rom-coms and - said with fondness - cheesy '90s TV) Those all include some version of an origin story, but differ on vibes. Avoid Man of Steel. It's Superman as interpreted by people who hate Superman.
Best viewing order to get into superman for a newbie: 1) Superman 1,2,3,4 original(3,4 isnt that good but worth a watch) 2) Superman Returns 3) My Adventures With Superman(Animated Series) 4) Superman & Lois(TV Series)
A few episodes of the 90s Superman animated TV series and the early 2000s Justice League animated tv series are a grest start. Also ,James Gunn used the comic All Star Superman as a reference for this.
I am not a particularly big Superman fan, but the first main dc/marvel comic book I ever read was called the Death of Superman, followed by: a world without Superman and the return of Superman. It was a big deal when it came out in the 90’s because it was the first time that a superhero like Superman had a major blow and defeat in the comic books which was a big deal for it’s time . And a cool side note is that one of the illustrator that illustrated that comic book lives in my city and I got him to autograph my copy of the death of Superman
Superman: For All Seasons by Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale. DC 1,000,000 (essentially a Superman story FEATURING the Justice League). Last Son by Geoff Johns and Richard Donner, director of Superman: The Move (1978)
The original Doner/Reeves Superman is a must watch for any fan of superhero films. It was the first of its kind in many ways and is still my personal favorite adaptation of the character (though I am very hopeful about this upcoming Gunn version)
You may want to watch Christopher Reeve in "The Superman Movie." Doing so, you will see how it is not just the glasses but also the posture and vocal mannerisms that cause people to not realize that Superman and Clark Kent are the same person.
In 1978 Warner Bros and director Richard Donner released the first major motion picture featuring a comic character "Superman: The Movie" starring Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, Marlon Brando & Gene Hackman. The follow-up film had a scene stealing turn from Terrance Stamp & is considered superior (no pun intended). Any homework done on Superman outside of comics & George Reeves early television depiction must include the first two Donner movies. Gunn pays homage to those films with the 1978 John Williams theme in this trailer.
Krypto, also known as Krypto the Superdog, is a superhero dog appearing in American comic books published by DC Comics, commonly in association with the character Superman. In most continuities, Krypto is Superman's pet dog, usually depicted as a white dog of a generic pedigree.
Start with "Superman: The Movie." It's origin story and time capsule. Since you liked "Supergirl," start with the first few episodes of "Superman and Lois" next. Where you go from there depends on your openness to / preference for different storytelling forms.
In my opinion, the best Superman media to get started with is My Adventures with Superman. It's animated, but it's very easy to watch and has a real good grasp of the character.
If you want a reading list for superman that is also relevant for this iteration of the character, I believe James Gunn has told us his influences. Off the top of my head, two of the big ones are Kingdom Come and All-Star Superman
smallville, christopher reeves superman, and lois and clark is the live action ones. As far as the animated ones go u basically can't go wrong, besides the injustice ones since it's "what if superman became a dictator" basically
Superman 1978, Superman 2, Superman 3, Superman 4, Superman Returns. That's the Superman of my generation, bright and hopeful 🙂 Then you have the dark Superman moves: Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, Justice League. I like the bright and hopeful ones a lot better 🙂
I haven’t checked your videos, but you need to read the Batman comics that were drawn by Neil Adams and inked by Dick Giordano back in the mid 70s and then the ones drawn by Marshall, Rogers and inked by Terry Austin in the late 1970s the stories are great as well, but those artists are absolutely kick ass.
Hello! Superman comic reader here, here's some comic recommendations! 1. Superman Birthright - Fantastic retelling of Superman's origins 2. Action Comics: 80 Years of Superman - Great for getting a broad understand of Superman's history, both from a character standpoint and the background of his creators Shuster and Siegal and how their experiences as Jewish Immigrants served as the basis for Superman, The Immigrant from The Stars 3. Superman Up In The Sky - Just Superman doing what Superman does 4. Superman Smashes The Klan - A comic remaking the events of the 1946 Superman Radio Show where he faces off against the Klan which served to actually cripple the popularity of the Klan 5. Superman Secret Origins - Another great retelling of Superman's origins 6. Superman By Grant Morison (2011) - Another great retelling of his early career 7. Action Comics #775 AKA What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way? - A short story displaying the purpose of Superman's optimism 8. Superman/Batman by Jeff Loeb - A fun comic with the World's Finest 9. Superman Road to Rebirth and Superman Rebirth - Superman raising a Son 10. Superman Annual #11 AKA "For the Man Who Has Everything..." - A great dissection of the Man of Steel by Alan Moore 11. Superman The Warworld Saga - A great story about Superman liberating the slaves of Warworld while powerless, as it is the Man that makes him Superman, not the Super! At this point you'll have a large understanding of who Superman is and it's where I'd say you can read the following 3 stories: 1. Allstar Superman 2. Superman The Death and Return Omnibus 3. Superman: Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow After this, feel free to jump around. Find stories that interest you and I'd also suggest following along with the current ongoings! Those being: 1. Action Comics #957 and onward - The current main Superman ongoing 2. Batman/Superman: World's Finest by Mark Waid - The current ongoing World's Finest team-up 3. Justice League Unlimited - The current JL ongoing 4. Absolute Superman - The all new and all different Superman Elseworld, a Superman who was raised on Krypton and not by the Kents
I grew up in a small town that didn't have a place to constantly buy new issues of the comic. But always loved Christopher Reeve's Superman. I did become intrigued with the series of issues Superman: Red. Did you read those? Are they worth the read?
@@tobyviramonte419 There's a few comics with names similar to that so help me out here. If you are referring to Superman Red Son, I enjoy this one! Definitely worth it, a fun Elseworld story of "What if Superman crash landed in Soviet Russia instead of Kansas." While in it Superman makes a lot of mistakes, at the end of it all it displays that Kal-El will always be Kal-El and find his way. If you mean Superman Red/Superman Blue, not the biggest fan. It's one of those quirky "We gotta reinvent everything" things that happened to basically every comic during the 90s post Death of Superman. Superman get's all of his power changed to these electric powers and he wears this radical very 90s Containment Suit, eventually he get's split into two beings as a reference to an old 1963 Superman story. It was a status quo change that doesn't feel natural, a change that very much feels forced on by upper management instead of one born naturally through the creativity that happens in the writers room. Some fun things happen but largely it's an era ignored by most- as is a lot of the status quo changes in the 90s. Fun if you want to see quirky 90s stuff, but not one of the great Superman stories. Since you're a big Christopher Reeves Supes fan, might I recommend reading Superman '78 and Superman '78: The Metal Curtain? It's a comic series that continues the Reeves continuity.
my list. 1 superman the movie-3 hour 10 minute extended cut. 2 superman 2 the Donner cut. 3 superman: doomsday. 4 The Death and Return of Superman 5 Superman: Red Son 6 my adventures with superman 7 smallville 8 Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman 9 superman and Lois 10 The seventeen Fleischer Superman cartoons 1941-1943.
I would definitely start with the original Richard Donner versions of Superman starring Christopher Reeve as Superman and that magical epic John Williams Superman theme. There have been some great actors portray Superman… but to me… Christopher Reeve WAS Superman. Great reaction by the way and can’t wait to see the new movie, 🙂
If you want a Superman TV show, "Superman and Lois" is great. It's maybe 20 years into his career as Superman; he's married to Lois and they have two teenage boys. He's the only hero on earth. Check out "Superman and Lois" clips and see if they're your cup of tea. I recommend a video with the title "Superman & Lois 1x01 Opening Scene (HD)".
Loved Supergirl as well! If you're looking for Superman comic ideas, Superman For All Season & All-Star Suoerman. All-Star has just been released in a compact size for about $10.
The Henry Cavill version of Superman will not give you any insight into the Superman that's being portrayed in this new movie this is a comic book Superman world he lives in a world where Heroes already exists the Zack Snyder universe and Superman are the opposite of everything that is Superman as far as light and hope and optimism I don't recommend watching those to get any insight about Superman watch Superman the movie with Christopher Reeve
Definitely start with Christopher Reeve Superman. Dean Cain Lois and Clark, Tom Welling Smallville. Also a fantastic portrayal is Tyler Koechlin Superman and Lois on Max that just had the season finale.
Where to start. Start at the beginning with Superman The Movie from '77. The recent Lois and Clark show that just concluded is good. If you like animated films I'd suggest Superman: Man of Tomorrow.
I suggest Kryto the super dog animated series to see he’s almost as strong as Superman and the other pets of the DC,Teen Titans/Justice League animated series , Christopher Reeves’s Superman , and maybe some comics on YT to see how great this trailer was for true fans 😮💨
My opinion, Christopher Reeves Superman 1 and 2 is a great place to start. Explains his background pretty well and just overall great movies I’d also recommend Man of Steel. Is it the best Superman movie? Not really but it is enjoyable imo. Superman and Lois is a great show to watch as well.
I love d.c, enjoy Batman but loving Nightwing. Love how they are treating him in the new d.c comics. The leader of the justice league. Mainly his fan base is all female because he is super attractive but happy he is getting the respect he deserves. Not a huge super man but smallvile is considered the best superhero tv series of all time. Have high hopes for this film. Will watch it no matter what and hope everyone gives it a chance
My Adventures with Superman is a great and easy to watch introduction to Clark Kent and his world! The cartoon Justice League/Justice League Unlimited is also fantastic but has a much wider focus than just Superman.
the superman and the batman both have dogs, respectively *krypto the super dog* and ace the bat hound typically ace doesn't have super powers like krypto but they have their own legion of super pets brand with some other animal superheroes. in the *Young Justice* animated series krypto is *superboy's* doggo friend. Young justice is one of the best DC tv shows i highly recommend you to watch. cheers.
the best homework to watch any of these characters is to watch justice league and then justice league unlimited. the cartoon .me and my girl are watching it now and loving it.
Literally started crying when I say Krytpo I love DC. But some of their live actions as of late aren't GREAT. I like The Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey (which is apparently a controversial opinion). But the animated DC movies are some of the best movies in comics
The Comics...always the best...because that's the true medium for these characters. Classic reprints from the Silver Age and anything by writers Mark Waid and Grant Morrison (obvious influences on this film) would be my recommendations 😊
I'm seeing a lot of people recommending Superman: The Movie from 1978 and they aren't wrong, but I would actually recommend Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (1993-1997) and Superman: The Animated Series (1996-1999). These are probably the three that get across the classic feel of Superman the best. The actors playing Superman in all three are really good at it, but I would argue that Lois & Clark and The Animated series do a better job with the supporting cast. For most of my life Lois & Clark's Teri Hatcher as Lois Lane has been my Lois Lane, despite really enjoying several of the other portrayals (not Margot Kidder). Smallville (2001-2011) was an interesting concept and had some really good elements, but it was definitely a teen soap and ACTIVELY avoided Clark/Superman really reaching his full potential for 10 years. I say this as someone who watched all ten of those seasons, but also as someone who went in to the series knowing that this was not Superman yet. Superman Returns (2006) was supposed to be a continuation of the 1978 movie and its first sequel from 1980 and while it was arguably better than the sequels that it was ignoring (Superman III [1983] amd Superman IV: The Quest for Peace[1987]), it was not Brandon Routh's best performance (or even his best performance as Superman) and the rest of the movie was kind of off message and forgettable. (I literally forgot about it while writing this and went back and added it last minute). Man of Steel(2013), while also a good movie, was a little too dark for a Superman movie. Superman and Lois (2021-2024) was mostly a really excellent Superman show...for Superman's LATER years. It is not a good entry point for Superman, but I would recommend watching it once you have a good feel for the characters.
I don't think you'll have time to watch all the seasons of Smallville) That's why I recommend the 1978 Superman movie, the sequel is also available, as well as the Man of Steel starring Henry Cavill. Probably the last one is my favorite Superman movie. I hope you'll like it too. As for the animated series, of course, the 90s animated series about Superman. I also recommend the animated series "My Adventures with Superman". Quite interesting works, worthy of attention.
Watch the 4 Christopher Reeve movies, the Superman Animated Series, and a few key short comic book runs: All Star Superman, Superman for all Seasons, and Superman For the Man who has Everything
I'm keen to pick up some comics, sounds like that's where a lot of fans think the best stories are atm. But I also have a lot of fun watching shows and movies so i'm up for anything
@@LippsReacts I would say pick up Superman Red&Blue, for comic book wise. Movie wise, I would say checkout Christopher Reeves Superman 1978, Superman Returns, and Superman all star. Show wise I'd say check out Lois and Clark. Besides Brandon Routh & Christopher Reeves Superman, I absolutely loved the guy who played Superman in the CW show. Also if you're interested in documentaries, they recently did a documentary film on Christopher Reeves and why he will always be known as our real life Superman. I can't wait for this movie, I think James Gunn really has something special for us
It'll be great to see Krypto in live action on the big screen. Some shows have played around the edges by giving Clark a dog that looked like Krypto or was even called Krypto, but the only time I can think they've previously gone 'full Krypto' is in the Netflix show Titans, featuring Robin, Superboy, Krypto, Wonder Girl and a bunch of other younger DC heroes. (Trailer: th-cam.com/video/fW_SKiwOqGQ/w-d-xo.html)
The story of Superman begins in the 1930s so starting anywhere is ok. There is too much Superman out there to grasp everything at once so just pick something up. My Superman started with the 1950s and 1960s TV shows. It then moved to the cartoons of the 1970s and 1980s. The comics especially Man Of Steel and Krypton and Superman Year One are good things to read. In the movies 1980s Superman movie is a must. Christopher Reeves is a Superman to an entire generation of people. The TV shows Lois and Clark, Superman and Lois, Smallville and the 1990s Superman animation and Justice League animation are good Superman resources. The Death of Superman is a must comic read. I would do any of that before watching any movie post 2005 just to get an idea of who or what Superman is in American comics/mythology. I do have to say there is just too much out there to start anywhere so you just go for it. Personally I am a fan of the old movie serials and of the George Reeves TV show before anything else. After that Christopher Reeves is my Superman and no one has come close since in the movies or TV. The comics are all over the place. At any one time in the last 50 years there are always 3 different comic runs of Superman at the same time so many stories to follow. Educationally if you really want to know where Superman comes from make sure you familiarize yourself with the Jewish story of Moses. Superman is a Moses analogue and the character was specifically created to battle the propaganda of the German Ubermensch of the 1930s.
I watched this after recording my reaction to The Green Mile for Patreon and my eyes are still swollen from crying

The best boy!

He definitely earned himself a treat and a belly rub

The superest goodest of boys:)
Start with Superman: The Movie (1978). It's technically the first ever superhero blockbuster film
Then watch Superman II with Christopher Reeve. I would follow up with Superman Returns with Brandon Routh, and finally Man of Steel, with Henry Cavill. This will give you a well-rounded look at the way that people have approached the Superman story as well as his origins.

Robert Pattinson's Batman : " I am Vengeance "
David Corenswet's Superman : = I am Hope.
That’s pretty awesome, well done
If we could give awards on TH-cam comments, you would get one.

Watch the 1978 Superman movie starring Christopher Reeve, Margot Kidder, and Gene Hackman
1000% yes!
I’ve read this film is the one Kevin Fergie insists that everybody at Marvel watched to understand how you can do a movie out of a comic superhero
Christopher Reeves Superman is such a great movie to begin with!
The best place to start with Superman is the Christoper Reeve Movies and then the others after
I've just actually sat down to watch the first Christopher reeves superman movie, made me remember why superman is my all time favourite superhero 👍
You start where most of us started! I was a kid in 1978 and my family went to see Superman with the one and only Christopher Reeve in the theater. He will always be the benchmark for any Superman character.
1978 Superman. Then Superman 2 (the Donner cut). They set a very high bar that nothing can possibly reach, despite trying.
Hi Lipps! I'd recommend starting with the first two Christopher Reeve Superman movies. I'd recommend the "Donner cut" when you get to Superman II.
David Corenswet, the new Superman Actor, was the one who convince James Gunn to add the trunks back because he believe Superman despite being an OP alien he wants to not be scary looking for the people or even children and the trunks will make him look goofy but at the same time a friendly superhero. "My adventures with superman" is a top tier superman show Imo.
I'd look into reading All-Star Superman. It's considered a classic and James Gunn said it was a big inspiration for this movie.

Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman (if you like rom-coms and - said with fondness - cheesy '90s TV)
Those all include some version of an origin story, but differ on vibes.
Avoid Man of Steel. It's Superman as interpreted by people who hate Superman.
Best viewing order to get into superman for a newbie:
1) Superman 1,2,3,4 original(3,4 isnt that good but worth a watch)
2) Superman Returns
3) My Adventures With Superman(Animated Series)
4) Superman & Lois(TV Series)
A few episodes of the 90s Superman animated TV series and the early 2000s Justice League animated tv series are a grest start. Also ,James Gunn used the comic All Star Superman as a reference for this.
I will always recommend All Star Superman, it's one of the best stories I've ever read on the use of power from a good person.
In the comics, Krypto was around since Kal-El’s (Superman) birth on Krypton. I believe this is his first time in a live-action movie.
This new film is the first film for James Gunn's DCU and also DCU began 2 weeks ago with the first 2 episodes of Creature Commandos.
I would recommend reading the graphic novels Superman: For All Seasons and All-Star Superman in preparation.
I think Gunn nailed the casting of Supes and Lois. That alone will get me to buy a ticket.
I agree, they seem like good picks for the movie! I look forward to seeing the final project
I grew up on the Christopher Reeve Superman. This movie looks like it's closer to those movies.
Krypto is a super good dog.
SUPER good dog :)
You have to watch the Superman 1978. You'll gonna love that for sure!
SUPERMAN with Christopher Reeve captures the spirit of what Superman is all about. A ray of light in a world filled with darkness.
I'm so excited to watch it!! I'm gonna watch it in January
smallville, christopher reeves superman, and lois and clark is the live action ones. As far as the animated ones go u basically can't go wrong, besides the injustice ones since it's "what if superman became a dictator" basically
I would watch all 4 Christopher Reeve movies and the Lois And Clark tv show
Superman 1978, Superman 2, Superman 3, Superman 4, Superman Returns.
That's the Superman of my generation, bright and hopeful 🙂
Then you have the dark Superman moves: Man of Steel, Batman vs Superman, Justice League.
I would recommend reading Superman Birthright and All Star Superman.
Hello! Superman comic reader here, here's some comic recommendations!
1. Superman Birthright - Fantastic retelling of Superman's origins
2. Action Comics: 80 Years of Superman - Great for getting a broad understand of Superman's history, both from a character standpoint and the background of his creators Shuster and Siegal and how their experiences as Jewish Immigrants served as the basis for Superman, The Immigrant from The Stars
3. Superman Up In The Sky - Just Superman doing what Superman does
4. Superman Smashes The Klan - A comic remaking the events of the 1946 Superman Radio Show where he faces off against the Klan which served to actually cripple the popularity of the Klan
5. Superman Secret Origins - Another great retelling of Superman's origins
6. Superman By Grant Morison (2011) - Another great retelling of his early career
7. Action Comics #775 AKA What's So Funny About Truth, Justice & the American Way? - A short story displaying the purpose of Superman's optimism
8. Superman/Batman by Jeff Loeb - A fun comic with the World's Finest
9. Superman Road to Rebirth and Superman Rebirth - Superman raising a Son
10. Superman Annual #11 AKA "For the Man Who Has Everything..." - A great dissection of the Man of Steel by Alan Moore
11. Superman The Warworld Saga - A great story about Superman liberating the slaves of Warworld while powerless, as it is the Man that makes him Superman, not the Super!
At this point you'll have a large understanding of who Superman is and it's where I'd say you can read the following 3 stories:
1. Allstar Superman
2. Superman The Death and Return Omnibus
3. Superman: Whatever Happened To The Man of Tomorrow
After this, feel free to jump around. Find stories that interest you and I'd also suggest following along with the current ongoings! Those being:
1. Action Comics #957 and onward - The current main Superman ongoing
2. Batman/Superman: World's Finest by Mark Waid - The current ongoing World's Finest team-up
3. Justice League Unlimited - The current JL ongoing
Birthright and Allstar are good comics to get a feel of this take and kingdom come too
my list.
1 superman the movie-3 hour 10 minute extended cut.
2 superman 2 the Donner cut.
3 superman: doomsday.
4 The Death and Return of Superman
5 Superman: Red Son
6 my adventures with superman
7 smallville
8 Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman
9 superman and Lois
10 The seventeen Fleischer Superman cartoons 1941-1943.
Christopher Reeves Superman one and two are very good
Definitely start with Christopher Reeve Superman.
If you like animated films I'd suggest Superman: Man of Tomorrow.
watch the animated All Star Superman, it's based on one of the comics that Gunn said influenced him.
Explains his background pretty well and just overall great movies
I’d also recommend Man of Steel. Is it the best Superman movie? Not really but it is enjoyable imo.
Superman and Lois is a great show to watch as well.
Just watch the Christopher Reeves films before this new one and you'll be fixed up on the character.
The cartoon Justice League/Justice League Unlimited is also fantastic but has a much wider focus than just Superman.
the superman and the batman both have dogs, respectively *krypto the super dog* and ace the bat hound
typically ace doesn't have super powers like krypto but they have their own legion of super pets brand with some other animal superheroes. in the *Young Justice* animated series krypto is *superboy's* doggo friend.
Young justice is one of the best DC tv shows i highly recommend you to watch. cheers.
you should read All-Star Superman
the best homework to watch any of these characters is to watch justice league and then justice league unlimited. the cartoon .me and my girl are watching it now and loving it.
th-cam.com/video/NWl0IsKRHlk/w-d-xo.html
Superman The Animated Series is a good to check out
All star superman kingdom come storyline
Literally started crying when I say Krytpo
I love DC. But some of their live actions as of late aren't GREAT. I like The Suicide Squad and Birds of Prey (which is apparently a controversial opinion). But the animated DC movies are some of the best movies in comics
noted, this comment on the live action movies seems to be a somewhat popular opinion. Hopefully this one delivers!!
The Comics...always the best...because that's the true medium for these characters.
Classic reprints from the Silver Age
and anything by writers Mark Waid and Grant Morrison (obvious influences on this film) would be my recommendations 😊
Superman the animated series
Would love to see your take on Superman Returns.
Start with the Christopher Reeve films. Also, glad I'm not the only one who enjoyed Supergirl.
That’s krypto he has the same powers that Superman has. (Yes he can fly.)
Watch the 4 Christopher Reeve movies, the Superman Animated Series, and a few key short comic book runs: All Star Superman, Superman for all Seasons, and Superman For the Man who has Everything
I was all in as soon as the Doggo showed up
right!?
You don't need to do homework, don't worry. It's a standalone movie.
Depends on where you'd like to start and where you go.. Also which mediums are you thinking??
I can't wait for this movie, I think James Gunn really has something special for us
Start with ALL STAR SUPERMAN by Grant Morrison and Frank Quitely. After that try UP, UP, AND AWAY by Kurt Busiek, Geoff Johns, and me.
I recommend Superman: The Movie, Superman II, and Superman Returns. Man of Steel is good, but a darker take on Superman.
Hi yes great song comic book Superman and Justice League and they have cartoon movie Superman 😁
For something different, try the man who first brought him to the small screen,George Reeves.
May I suggest superman; birthright, all-star, brainac, red son, grounded, man of tomorrow
Nice review 💐 tho one thing I want is him without the trunks 😢
