Yessss glad you joined the Libby crew!!!
I love this crew!!!
Libby is wonderful. The library at your fingertips cannot be beat. 😊
Precisely!
Hi Joyce! I enjoy your vlogs a lot! they're truly a joy to watch. I own the book, the deep, and after listening to your thoughts on the story, I hope to get to it very soon. I hope you get lots of sleep when you can.☺(Your kids a true blessing.)
Hey hey! Thank you so much. They really are a blessing. 😊 The deep was deep. 😅 It’s a very interesting story. Different from other fantasy books I’ve read. It’s slower paced. I could tell the authors really wanted the reader to grapple with the heavier themes. Glad you’re gonna give it a try. It’s a tiny but mighty book.
The Overnight Guest was gooddd….!
Over 200 pages in and I completely agree!
YOOO! you just set up your LIBBY!!! I'm so glad you're with the Libby-girlies now!! They have not just digital but audio too! It's such a cheat code to reading more
It really is! I’ve been obsessed with it lately. I’m about to devour some books lol
You’re reading Fredrik Backman! Yay! Beartown is one of my favorites of his. I’m excited to hear your thoughts!
Aww, yay!! I hope I love it 😊 I’ve heard great things about it.
Hey Friend, Happy Wednesday. A black turtleneck shirt is not as bad as wearing a jacket in seventy degree weather. ❤ I love all of your reading challenges, I hardly had time to read, watch TH-cam, or study for my exam this week. 😢 finishing three books in three days? Wow girl I don’t even think I could do that, way to go!!! ❤
I know, right! Crazy. Definitely a first for me lol
I read Chain Gang in print and thought it was really impactful-I think I would have been lost if I’d done audio though. You’re so right that it’s a lot to keep track
of. The cover of The Deep is so good! Monsters We Defy sounds good too-adding it to my TBR!
Chain Gang was such an impactful read. Hopefully you enjoy The Monsters We Defy. It was good enough. A solid 3 star read!
I love your videos, per usual!! I am so glad you have a Libby!! I use it as well especially for my kindle 🥰 we love free books!! Thank you for your book reviews, they are always so informative!!
Awe, thanks Bethany! 🫶🏽I’m so glad I finally setup my Libby account. I’m hooked lol!
@@joycewesley lol!!! It’s so clutch! 😂
I’m in a slow reading moment. I’m currently reading The American Queen. It’s not that it’s a bad read, just not really enthusiastic about reading right now. I’ll be starting A Love Song for Rikki Wilde. Maybe it’ll jump start my reading again. I DNF The Art of Scandal. Happy March reading! I read The House of Eve….loved it! I have I Wish We Weren’t Related waiting to be read.
Wow, I love that we have similar reading taste. I’ve never heard of anyone speak about ‘I wish we weren’t related’. That’s so cool! I’ve never even seen that book until that day lol. I am so glad some people had a similar experience with The Art of Scandal as me lol. I hope the Ricki Wilde book helps to get you back enthusiastic about reading. It was a fun time for me! Slow moments happen to all of us. Happy March reading!
I just recently requested chain gang all stars I hope I will like it for me I read during the night these past few weeks for me it's easy to focus
I hope so too! It started off strong then fell off for me. I’m just glad I finally finished it lol
I’ve read The house of eve the auto is fire 🔥 you will not regret it you will fall in love ❤ happy reading!❤
Ahhh! Yay, I’m so excited!
I’m buddy-reading Chain-Gang All Stars with a friend this month, and The House of Eve and Beartown are on my TBR this year. The same friend and I read The Monsters We Defy last year, but we didn’t really like it. Glad you found the gem in it!
I love that you do so much buddy reading. That’s awesome! I can totally understand why you guys didn’t like The Monsters we Defy lol. It wasn’t the best thing ever. Just a decent read with interesting history surrounding it.
Not every book works for everybody. I couldn't disagree with you more about Chain Gang All-Stars. It was one of my favorite books of 2023, and I still think about it. The footnotes were so impactful and led me to do more research about the prison industry in my community/state. I'm now working with an organization on the school-to-prison pipeline-so hard and so much work, but rewarding. I'm going to check out The Deep because I love a book with a message. Thanks for sharing, and happy reading.
Very true! I absolutely love how personal and subjective reading is. I think it’s what makes reading so unique and fun. Thank you for sharing the impact Chain-gang All-Stars had on you. It seems like we both liked the book. I was just expecting something different, because I went in to the book relatively blind. I loved the footnotes! They were very interesting and gave the story depth. I thought it was a very important read. Nana Kwame’s writing is beautiful, and I would read another book by him.
@@joycewesley Me too! I plan to add his first book to my TBR.
I like the idea of a quarter wrap up! I must admit that it can get repetitive when I watch both a booktuber's reading vlog and watch the monthly recap when they are simply going back over the books I saw during the reading vlog. The booktubers I watch, I pretty much watch all of their content, especially to be a support, but sometimes it's a bit repetitive.
I completely agree! I have that exact same sentiment, which is why I don’t really care to do them monthly. I’m glad you like the quarterly wrap up idea.
@@joycewesley Yes! I always love your wrapups, so I'm looking forward to it!
House of eve I’ve read it 2nd it’s that good & will be reading it again! ❤
Hey sis. I couldn’t wait to get done with my homework to watch this video. The House of Eve is so good and a 5 ⭐️ read for me. ❤
Hey girl hey! I love knowing I was the after HW treat lol. 😜You guys have me extra excited for The House of Eve! 😊👏🏽🥰
@@joycewesley
😂 oh yes I have to get that in, I graduate in May so Im ready . ✨Yes I loved it. I think you will enjoy it . ☺️
Joyce your just so likable & fun❤. I just started reading book one in the Twisted series I'm really excited. Also gonna try to get a non fiction book in this month, since there not usually my jam.
Aww, thanks Gloria! 🫶🏽I absolutely love that you’re gonna try to read a non-fiction book this month. Yay!
Autism mom here, just popping in to say I’m tired with you! Lol no one told me sleep issues were correlated with autism and I had to learn the hard way 🙃 melatonin definitely helps at times! But it’s very unpredictable lol nevertheless love your videos! I’m currently reading Dark Matter by Blake Crouch but can’t waaaait for This Could Be Us
Thanks for the relatability pop in! The struggle is real! I’m actually up at 3:45a writing this reply. 😅🤦🏽♀️Sleep issues are very common amongst autistic children. However, not all autistic children have sleep issues, and I absolutely love that for them and their parents. Research shows it can be due to various reasons like; gastrointestinal issues, sensitivity to noises, lack of melatonin regulation, and so much more. Justice takes prescribed meds at night to help her fall asleep; along with magnesium and melatonin. You would think all that would help her sleep throughout the night, but it doesn’t. 😕The doctor said these things help autistic children fall asleep. However, they don’t necessarily help them stay asleep. 😩In therapy, I’ve learned to embrace it by reading or knocking off a to-do list item during that time. This makes me feel more productive and less miserable the next day lol. I’ve never heard of Dark Matter. I’ll have to look it up. And I’ll be running to grab Kennedy Ryan’s new book the day it comes out.🤪💖
@@joycewesley wow! Gained a lot of insight just from this paragraph alone, thank you for that! This is all so new to me, my son is only two ❤️ & his doctor really hasn’t did well informing us of much unfortunately. Now I get why he still wakes up at times! We definitely thought melatonin was supposed to knock him out for the night 🥴🤦🏾♀️ I’ll also be adapting that tidbit about doing something during that time! It’s very easy to just become overwhelmed by the lack of sleep, & sometimes I just sit there & cry honestly. Definitely still going through waves of grief. But I like that solution better, I’ll be trying that tonight! lol 🫶🏾
It's a journey. And it's not an easy one. So remember to give yourself time and grace. :) I would cry all the time when Justice woke up as well. I just felt so hopeless and miserable I couldn't take it anymore. That's why I brought it up in therapy. I was very grateful my therapist gave me such a simple nugget and it has truly helped me. I hope it helps you as well. Oh yeah, and sometimes the doctors don't do the best job of informing us. Since I love reading, I read a lot of books, Essay's, and articles about Autism. This subject matter was so foreign to me I had to learn as much as I could to truly understand it. I also follow other autism mom's that are actually talking about the ups and downs of their journey, with autism. You're still at the beginning of your journey, so immense grief is expected. Prioritize things that bring you joy. It's hard at first, believe me I know. But then it becomes easier and neccesary for your mental health. *heart* @@granttia11
I am reading "The Great Alone" I am enjoying it.
Nice! I think I’ll be ready to get to that one in April or May. I’m glad to know you’re enjoying it so far.
I'm currently reading
Elektra by Jennifer saint I'm liking it so far I did enjoy her previous book ariadne and check and mate by ali hazlewood and the island of missing trees by elif shafak
I hope to get to Check and Mate this month.
I also have A Woman Is No Man on my TBR. Interested in it because I know people who are both woman and man, so wondering what this story has to say
I'm reading Book Clubbed by Lorna Barrett and On Thin Icing by Ellie Alexander. I feel like I need to step it up
On Thin Icing sounds cute. I’m a sucker for a good cozy mystery. Why do you feel like you need to step it up??
@@joycewesley Girl, you're reading twice as many books as I am. I'm hoping to read 100 books this year and I'm on 10 and 11. Lol
Wow, 100 books! That's awesome. You're averaging about 5 books a month which is really good. My goal is 52 and I've read 26 so far. I came out swinging the first couple months of the year lol. I'm sure I'll start to slow my reading pace in the summer. @@michellecromartie8434
@@joycewesley oh you will be done in no time. I think you will be at 100 before year end lol
I can't even imagine reading 100 books in a year. That would be super cool though!@@michellecromartie8434
I’m stopping everything for Kennedy Ryan I’m counting down
Period!!
How you felt reading Chain Gang All Stars is how I felt reading Butcher and Blackbird. Cool concept but couldn’t enjoy it. The vibe going into BaB was awesome. The author gave a playlist and everything. It was very mid for me. I wanted to love BaB sooo bad. I heard the audiobook was way better but at that point I was mentally checked out. Finished because I genuinely liked the characters.
Ugh! Such a bummer. I hate it when that happens. Especially when you really wanted to love a book.
You should really check out the deep series by Natavia and her beauty and her beast series😊 hope you enjoy
Thanks for the recommendation!
Welcome
Lol reading is a tough hobby especially making content 😊
Indeed!
I DNF the book “the deep” it was a no go for me.
lol understandable. It’s definitely a different read.
