When the Blind Boys come in with those harmonies it moves me to tears. Utterly, utterly sublime. There are two artists that emerged in the 1970's whose contribution to music is matchless; Bowie and Gabriel. Very different, yet sharing an amazing creative vision. I am so glad to have seen both of them live and to have all their music. I owe them much.
I start cryin every time... at 6:10 ...jesusallahbuddhaharekrishnacosmicpower...so beautiful. I'm so blessed that I actually got to see THIS live in Stockholm. Peter is one of the absolute greatest artists of all time, and The blind boys are so amazing.
I went to see him at Mohegan Sun in CT when I was fourteen. I've grown up on Peter Gabriel, my dad is a huge fan. Anyway, when they did Sky Blue at the show, their set was almost the same, and he walked upside down on a circular walkway that descended from the ceiling, and it was AMAZING. This is one of my favorite songs, thanks for posting this!
I saw Peter on this tour in 2003 at the M.E.N. Arena in Manchester, best 45 quid I spent on a ticket. I don't care if I never see another gig, it was the best I have ever seen, all the better having been a huge PG and Genesis fan for years.
Peter Gabriel! Amazing artist!!I love sitting back and listening to his work (music, Art) WOW!!! It's sounds so beautiful to the ears. Medicine it is! Med. I can't and won't get sick of listening to his music and words. You Rock Peter!!!!!
I saw him at wembley a few years ago on the last night of the second leg of this tour. Words can not describe the passion and atmosphere of that night. I think everyone in the audience was completely in the moment with PG as he performed, simply great.
Peter Gabriel has a way to come inside you and make you feel extremely touched by what he writes. He is not only a fantastic signer, composer and songwriter but also a beautyful human being too. Having his Daughter on stage with him has got to be a major thrill. Kudos to my favorite artist ever. I want to be put into ground with his music and DVD. This is how much I love this artist.
I love the small bit of talking he does before the songs. In some cases, it clearly illuminates the meanings that other people just interpreted differently beforehand. Wonderful artist!!!
It is getting to a point where there is the absolute certainty that ANYTHING coming out of the mind of Mr. Peter Gabriel is nothing less than the purest form of ART and GENIUS at their very best . This song is one of most soulful ones ever performed anywhere in this world (and beyond...).
Simply pure fricken genius. This tour was something to see. Peter is the man! Tony Levin IS an unstoppable force. What a band!!!!! Lynch on skins. Blind boys are incredible. I could go on.!!!
Just the name Peter Gabriel sounds so cool to me. Add all the great history behind it and this man is a great living legend still going strong. Long live Gabriel!
Its the true depth of the man himself and his conscience about humanity and animals that is one of the things about him that appeals to so many of us about him Peter and the way he puts these thoughts into his songs pure genuisx
Peter Is a man who loves his fellowmen During the show Peter introduces himself everyone playing on the first part of it (apart from that, he promotes musics from various parts of the world) His voice is great His talent is huge Truly a great man
There are no words to describe an artist...a poet...a genius like the great PETER....you still and always give me great emotions and make me dreamin' with your beautiful songs...like SKY BLUE is.....I LOVE YOU. GOD bless you.
he leaves one speechless he knows what he is singing about he captures life in a way everybody can feel it. Thats talent, thats spirit, he is gifted. I saw him live. No words to explain it. It's another world. Thanks Peter.
Awesome movie about the human spirit and life determination. And to think some people live their whole lives waiting for a handout, never accomplishing anything of merit. True inspiration, and another example of Peter's involvement in worthy human causes. Peace :)
who could have though that 5 simple notes can be so powerful... I somehow end up back at this song every time i get on my comp and every time i am just stunned by the simplicity and power that this song has...
The lyrics, the vibe, the changes, the background vocals, the groove....what a masterpiece. "I keep moving to be stable." Genius lyrics, Peter. Always amazing and inspirational. So glad you did not become an accountant or something safe.
absolutely one of the greatest, unique and powerful (in musical talent and thought provoking meanings) artists of our time....hands down! I actually cried when I saw him in concert - how sappy is that??!!
this one makes me feel in top of the world... and peter just got hes voice deeper and deeper over the years. he's a beyond words composer and performer
Good observation! If you notice Peter sings through two microphones during many parts of various songs. I suspect that one of the microphones has a slight delay. Thus giving the sound that sounds like two people singing. Not only does he perform that task well but, it has been something he has done for many years. What a talent!
It took PG 10 years to finish this song. It hits me hard every time I hear it. I come back to it every once in a while to bask in his musical genius. One of my all time favorite songs and TBBOA are amazing and give it the perfect touch.
Another masterpiece! I love the ensemble of great musicians Peter Gabriel picked for this tour. The keyboard interlude performed by RachelZ at 2:17-2:36, is so fine! And watching her getting into the song towards the end with the Blind Boys vocals building up has forced me to watch over and over!
OK, I'll be honest. I didn't get shivers down my spine. But I did get goose bumps down the right side of my body -- from my cheek to my shin. Amazing, powerful song and performance.
One of THE most amazing concerts ... PERIOD! It all feels deeply spiritual and soulful to me ... and this one sends shivers up the spine when the voices of the Blind Boys of Alabama start to soar!
dearest mr. peter gabriel if you actually ever read these comments from this site please know that I truly do love your music and am a very big fan and it is the only reason that i have them on my playlist and fav list
OMG...I just heard the Blind Boys of Alabama in concert last night in Michigan, and the "shivers up the spine" is exactly what happened to me, now I read your post of a year ago describing the same feeling. Those voices are channeled from somewhere deep in the soul...
This sound is truly a masterpiece and a song which stays with you. Peter Gabriel is truly a musical genius to create a song that reaches in and stirs the soul.
My lifetime favorite artist executing one of the best songs he ever wrote. That man is such a brilliant musucian and songwriter. Never a word too much, never a note too much. Just brilliant. He is a genius.
I love the free download of the new track. Thanks for posting this beautiful song and video. He's my favorite and the Blind Boys was just an extra added bonus!
I saw this tour as well, mikezes, and incredible doesn't even BEGIN to describe it! I also saw him at WOMAD back in the 90's and it was equally awesome! Can't wait for his next album! That's right, I said ALBUM!!! ;D
Gives me this shivers every time i listen to it... its also the soundtrack to a film called rabbit proof fence, which souds like it was made for the film. he really is one of the most imaginative performers ever
I remember hearing this song as I walked thru the store ... I was awed by it. This is one of the best songs ... this and November Rain. PS Thanks for posting Sky Blue
An amazing performer. I am not sure why I had not realized this before, perhaps I was not ready and just too young , and now I am ready and I can receive it. I think he has influenced Jeremy Enigk greatly(one of my favorite singer/songwriters).
the blind boy of Alabama gave a shiver up my spine too. My friend Jim Granier invented a white fiberglass bead shaker and I saw It on the stage. awesome
Mistrz.
I heard him live at both the "Us" and "Up" tour. In my opinion you can clearly hear that he has gotten older, he still sings well even in higher ranges, but not as good as he used to be, and certainly his voice didn't get better. But that doesn't really matter, his music is wonderful and the "Up" show was the greatest theatre/music fusion i have ever seen.
I saw Peter in Boston on this same tour. One of the best concerts I have ever seen.

I was there that day, and still, I can feel the same chills I had all the time that day. Unforgettable. Honestly... a mistic experience.

Being born here on earth / sky blue , Thank You Peter for sharing this feeling and putting it in words.
I love the small bit of talking he does before the songs. In some cases, it clearly illuminates the meanings that other people just interpreted differently beforehand. Wonderful artist!!!
Ein sehr schönes Lied ❤❤❤❤
You are sooooo right!... It brings me to tears too... no way out... Peter is pointing the Way!

I think this song is Peter Gabriels masterpiece. Staggering live performance.
The people that dislike this song are dead on the inside. This man's music is truly heartwarming. This song makes my heart ache...in a good way.
You've really got to see him live once, it will be seared into your life forever. Such a powerful experience.
Peter Gabriel's talent is unmatched. This is the most beautiful piece of music I have heard in a very long time.
I saw him play with Genesis and he has spoken to my heart and soul ever since
he leaves one speechless he knows what he is singing about he captures life in a way everybody can feel it. Thats talent, thats spirit, he is gifted. I saw him live. No words to explain it. It's another world. Thanks Peter.

Fuck! I cannot say enough amazing things about that particular tour, Gabriel, and the Blind Boys. STILL brings tears to my eyes!
What Peter does is just fantastic! That's what I call music! Overwhelming!
Good observation! If you notice Peter sings through two microphones during many parts of various songs. I suspect that one of the microphones has a slight delay. Best part of this video right there. His voice is so powerful when he sings that line that it gives me chills.

A true Genius...Can't stop playing this!!
On the studio record The Green God Peter Green plays guitar!!!
One of very few songs that make me cry.
An amazing performer. I am not sure why I had not realized this before, perhaps I was not ready and just too young , and now I am ready and I can receive it. I think he has influenced Jeremy Enigk greatly(one of my favorite singer/songwriters).
I have that DVD. Everything on it is simply amazing. I love Peter Gabriel. This is an amazing song.
the blind boy of Alabama gave a shiver up my spine too.
My friend Jim Granier invented a white fiberglass bead shaker and I saw It on the stage. awesome
hands down my favorite Gabriel song ever. and he writes some DAMN good songs...
My audio teacher once played this concert for me so I could "bring forward" certain instruments on the track. This is the song that stuck with me.
Mistrz.
He's a wonderful talent. I just wish he'd make a new album. You know he has it him.
watched the DVD of this concert like 50 times. Amazing
chills all the way. Damn this is such a good song!
This is as good as it gets!!!
This is the Crown Jewel song of this tour/album!
Thanks for posting.... Wish I could give it 10 stars. :)
I heard him live at both the "Us" and "Up" tour. "...it shivers down my spine" - yes, Peter Gabriel - exactly, you got it - wonderful Song.
