Your friend Leslie is cool, relaxed with you and has good timing. I binge on your videos Amy and thought it might be awkward with a co-host but you two worked well together. Great yarns purchased and looking forward to the final projects. ❤. Additionally, it would be great to see Leslie progress with her knitting journey. 😊
Seattle girlie here and I'm so glad you got to visit! The PNW is absolutely stunning, especially in the summer. I went to Flock with one of my best friends and we also had a great time. Laughing because we were talking about how bummed we were that we didn't see you, but I think we're in some of your footage from the festival. Happy knitting and hope we see you back in the future ❣
Im relatively new to knitting so i enjoy watching videos that talk about different dyers and patterns! Im on the east coast but i would love going to a festival like this!
I'm happy to hear about the classes. Watching everyone's Flock videos really inspires me to go, and I'm in the same boat as Leslie, I don't knit enough to really have ideas of lots of things to buy. So wouldn't be buying much yarn, so I'm really interested to learn about the talks, classes, community building parts of the festival.
I found your channel because of the Flock Festival review. Thanks for the great review! I would love to visit the PNW and attend Flock some day! I'm a sock knitter and some great self stripping yarn dyers are Freckled Whimsy, Must Stash Yarn, Night Owl Fibers, Nomadic Yarns, Polka Dot Creek and The Cozy Knitter.
For the advent calendar idea: I watch Hannah Louise Poston here on youtube and she talks about buying nice things within reason and within one's budget. She did a DIY advent calendar where she had a friend wrap up items in her collection (she's into beauty and fashion) for an advent calendar. So she didn't spend any money but still got to see her items like new again. I think a cool idea would be having a friend go through your minis and wrap them up for you and you could open them later and still get the surprise and maybe figure out cool color combos. If you already have enough minis for all the days it could be cool!
I've been so looking forward to seeing your haul and it didn't disappoint! Love that your partners carried your stuff, that's so sweet! Glad you guys had a great time!
Loved getting to see everything you picked up at Flock! I'm so glad they're doing a preorder for the tote bags because they were gone by the time I got to the merch booth 😂Hope you get to go again next year!!! 🥰
BFL is a perfect beginner fiber. My only advice is that if you are having trouble drafting it, put your hands farther apart. Your first spun yarn may not be perfect, but it will be perfectly useable!
it looks amazing! I really want to go next year. Good on you for being so restrained with purchasing! If I go, I'm going to need to save beforehand because I might go crazy
AHh!! I’m so excited for you! You brought up the Vivienne pullover and I chuckled because I’m also planning on doing that one soon if I can find the time!! And I’m SO excited for you to start spinning! The drop spindle is absolutely an amazing way to start - lets you get to understand how the fiber drafts and moves at a very slow speed. Corriedale and BFL are both great to start with! Honestly I think you could start with just about anything with a decent staple length and a bit of grip on a drop spindle - particularly if you’re doing the park and draft method. Just know that when you eventually have the itch to spin, but don’t want to because it takes so long or because the drop spindle can be uncomfortable, it just means you’d love spinning on a wheel/e-spinner and it’s time to fully convert to spinning 😉😜
I'm so sad that I didn't manage to find you at Flock! I was able to go on Sunday and did keep an eye out, but I guess I missed you. Still, I'm so glad you had such a good time here, and I hope you'll come back again soon
It’s more than just a monument… La Sagrada Familia is the largest most AMAZING church and work of art by Antonio Gaudi, still under construction in Barcelona, Spain.
What a great vlog. Nice to have a great place to stay and yeah for hubbies who carry the bags. Did you stick to your plan/budget? Seattle looks like a great place, very senic. Looking forward to whatever content you share next. Will you share some new house stuff as you get settled?
I feel like you were very restrained and thoughtful about your purchases Amy! I either go completely nuts and buy all the things in the wrong quantities and go home and get puzzled by what came over me, or get overwhelmed during festivals and go home empty handed (this actually happened to me when I just visited the Unruly Stitch recently, because I didn't know what to expect in there!) I will definitely do a planning session like you did prior to my next shopping trip so I'm mentally and financially (lol) prepared. Visiting the festival virtually with you was ALMOST as good as going in person, perhaps one day!
Love seeing all these flock videos! I think next year I want to prioritize going to a yarn fest as I’ve never been. Would you recommend flock over something like knit city or rhineback?
Flock was my first large-scale festival and I thought it was very well run and organized. I haven't been to Knit City or Rhinebeck (yet) so I can't compare them! I am planning to go to Rhinebeck this year, so after Oct I can speak to both :)
thats a very heavy spindle so it will be great for DK or bulky. i have managed a lace weight single on my 100g drop spindle, but as you spin you add weight so it gets too heavy and starts snapping thin fibers. The best way to start is thicker anyway and really focus on fiber staple length! only draw out half a staple at a time so theres overlap or all of them will end at the same point and snap off. :D welcome to spin club!
I think Aimee is actually pronounced a little differently, but I myself am not a native french speaker (only had it in school) so I do not want to say something wrong here. The things you got are all so pretty, I hope you're having fun with it!
May I recommend Tiny Human Knits self-striping sock yarn? She also has a youtube channel and her colours are amaaaazing - plus she also offers 50g + 20g sets which is great for those of us with smaller feet :)
Side note: I was happy to see so many people masked as it's still rare here in the southeast US tho the Covid numbers are going up (again). And I really like Seattle so would LOVE to attend a Flock there (maybe next year? ) 😊 Lovely purchases 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I think the organizers had designated hours where everyone would be masked --definitely some angry people in the Instagram comments when they announced that but props to them for sticking with it!
I saw on another podcast that for the early part of the day on Saturday, masks were required. A great way to support those with compromised immunities.
I truly want to be excited to see it all, but people still wearing masks in 2024 truly are disturbing to me, I can't even !! Amy , I'm glad you enjoyed it, though
I never understand this take. 1) Why be mad about it? There are no more mandates, you "can't even" but you don't have to wear a mask, and 2) Why not try and be a bigger part of a kinder more inclusive society? I'm happy to see people masking because it shows that common kindness and consideration may be making a comeback.
@myhappyspace4533 Are you offended at people watching out for their health?😂 Wearing masks in 2024 shouldn’t bother you. I’d personally wear a mask if needed when going to large conventions in a crowded area in closed spaces because 1) Covid is still here and some people don’t care enough to think about others and stay home if you’re infected 2) Even if people don’t have Covid there still is the flu and some people have the tendency to “open mouth cough” all over their surroundings. Doesn’t sound too tasty if you ask me… 3) Some people may simply have different levels of immune system strength. If wearing a mask helps them live their life to the fullest, then let them mask up and live their best life Keep a mask handy IF YOU WANT TO and continue to use hand sanitizer when going about your day in public IF YOU WANT TO… nobody is forcing you to wear a mask so let those who want to wear one do so if they want to.
I have seen you make comments like this on other videos. You realize you can just not watch the Flock episodes if you are not interested instead of making negative comments?? If you have nothing nice to say it's better to say nothing at all!
@@oldwitchknits-Ursula I always thought bloggers wanted to know what watcher did and didn’t like about their podcasts. Only making comments about what you like gives podcasters an inaccurate picture of their viewers opinions.
@@camderden2879 this is only my personal opinion but if you really feel the need to state that you don't enjoy the content then you could at least say it a bit nicer. However, Amy obviously loved it (as did probably everyone who went to Flock) and just wants to share. If a lot of people don't enjoy it she will see it in views and likes. And she might still choose to share again in the future just because she loved it. I really think there is zero need to let her know you don't like Flock content.
Your friend needs to start her own channel. She’s a natural. Thank you for bringing us along.
Thanks for having me on your channel! Flock was so fun, can’t wait to go back next year! 💕

All the yarn is gorgeous but I’m especially loving those pastel colors with the suri alpaca and the oshen skeins 😍
Thanks for sharing your yarny trip. Love all the colors you brought.
This was an amazing video. I agree, your friend needs to start her own channel, she’s as lovely as you are ❤
