I went this year and really enjoyed it! I saw a post on Reddit/knitting asking for people to respond if they were going, so that’s another resource for making connections. For anyone else who feels weird going alone, know that there’s plenty of places to just sit and knit. It’s very easy to start a convo with other knitters who may also be there alone. Even if you don’t have a big budget for supplies, you can definitely enjoy the show by absorbing all the creative energy!
I have been knitting since I was 18, I am about to turn 32 and still have no knitting friends 😂 I’m so sad I didn’t know about this festival !! It’s sounds like it was amazing. I can’t wait to go next year. And 150% I understand the need for community. I felt that comment on a cellular level🤌🏼 I’m also in Seattle - Happy to of stumbled upon your channel! - T
Okay a) “we have to remember: I am just a girl” is now my motto for every yarn purchase ever and b) are you KIDDING ME with that combo for the pressed flowers socks??!?!! STUNNING
Wow, what an amazing podcast! You are the younger version of ME! I subscribed to your channel. What you were talking about the knitting community it’s all true. I live in a small town with no LYS shops no knitting friends no one who understands my knitting language. I hope I will be attending next years FLOCK! Thank you for your video on FLOCK! 🧶❣️
For flying with scissors, a tip I heard from The Dropped Stitch's channel is to put your dental floss in your carry on and use it to cut your yarn. I thought that was so smart!
@@byathreadknitsooooh 😱 the most "technique" I use is just holding each color in a different hand, but it still takes forever. But as soon as I blocked my halibut sweater I immediately started this koi colorwork sweater so clearly I love suffering 😂
th-cam.com/video/bpffgVthxgk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=La8laafW3xv9HEgu see if this helps you at all!! Obvs idk if you knit English or continental but if you’re a continental girlie like myself this could be major!!!
As a fellow nervy girlie: bring a pair of nail clippers as a backup if you're worried about your travel scissors getting confiscated! I've never had a problem with them in my carryon, even flying internationally. The Superglo show colorway was super cute as well!
I loved watching this! I thought I saw you there, but I was a bit too shy to say hello! I came down for the weekend (from British Columbia) and it was definitely an expensive trip! But really fun! I didn't get to go last year, but now that I've been, I may have to go every year...
Enjoyed your podcast. Knitting events can me stressful and it’s hard to stay on track with spending. I met my knitty friends by attending knit social at my LYS. Weekly get together that I now hate to miss.
I was at Flock also and really loved it. I will go next year for sure. I loved so much I also decided to make an episode of it on my TH-cam channel. Love your haul and I’m so glad you enjoyed the festival so much 🩷
I was also quite nervous to go to Flock ahh I went alone but had such such a fun time talking to the vendors! Im also a seattle local which I'm so glad for it made this festival so much easier!
Ryan from Salty Blonde Fiber is so sweet! I met her a last year’s Flock and saw her this year as well! You’re right, her Granny Square top was a big slay
I feel your comment about community so much! I’m in Europe so going to Flock isn’t in my budget, hence living through others via the videos 😂 thanks for sharing! I’ve tried out different community ways (discord groups, Reddit) but most people are in different timezones to me so still makes me feel pretty alone, kinda. Edit: also happy I found your channel because TH-cam suggested this video to me 😊
The time zone thing is so tough!! I’m in Europe rn and definitely being forced to reckon with the difficulty of everyone in my life being 8 hours behind me. I feel your pain!!! Have you tried your local yarn store? Maybe they have a knit night??
Such a great haul. I did not go to flock this year because I have no knitting friends. I think next year I am just going to jump in and go. Maybe I’ll find some people through IG that I can share a place with. That would be the best.
I'm glad someone else also said it - I spent a LOT too and you know what? It's gonna be ok. Maybe! Who knows 🙃Also I'm interested in these pressed flowers socks!
It’s 👏 gonna 👏 be 👏 okay 👏👏👏 thank you for saying that because honestly I needed to hear it today lol. Also if you want to join the group for the pressed flowers socks, DM me on insta!!! 🩷🩷
Girlll u should drill your shelf to the wall IMMEDIATELY! We do that every time for our own safety. Just use any methods connecting shelf pieces with something steady (like a wall). Please stay safe❤
Definitely hoping to get to Flock next year, though I feel like I might have to take out a loan if I do. Thank for the tip on Oshen Fiber. I live in Portland so definitely could make a trip to her shop!
The cardigan looks absolutely gorgeous on you! 👌😄 I’ll be visiting Seattle next year and hoping to match it with flock! I’m visiting from Sweden though and I don’t know anyone who want to go there with me. We’ll see how it goes, and how lost I will be… 😂 Such a fun idea with the pressed flower socks! I’m going to a yarn event this weekend in Sweden. I think I’ll look for some yarn for a pair as well 😏😁
I agree on taking the nail clippers like someone else mentioned. Security can be a gamble otherwise. (I've had that I forgot I standard had some kids' scissors in my regular bag at a trip to the UK some years ago. I was fine on the trip there, it wasn't even mentioned. I was all like 'huh wait what? I had scissors in there???? Oh right, totally forgot about those!' on the trip back. Had to throw them out though. Which is understandable in a way, they had to enforce the rules, but those things were not stabby in any way whatsoever.) Anyway, I have also found that it can be hard to find knitting friends. Especially knitting friends that are not too far away. At least I don't need those to knit, but it sometimes seems nice😅
I get SO many ads for Loops, I’ve been debating buying a pair forever… this might be the push I need to finally place an order. GAD girlies gotta stick together, I appreciate the recommendation!!! 👯♀️🩷
Assuming I’m a New Yorker is the nicest thing anyone has ever said about me?? Thank you for this ego boost?? Also much appreciated from one member of the anxious girlie club to another 💞👯♀️
I'm really sad I missed this, I had to work :( I even work in Seattle, probably good though I would've dropped a bag too lol you're totally right bout knitting being clicky, Ive been knitting since 2007 and I have NEVER found knitting friends :(
I bought the Bad Sheep Yarn Advent this year, Ouch! and I over spend on Flock Fiber my first time too! I was overwhelmed so glad my friend was with me but I do get having a group.
@@maritzaestrada738 Good to know I am not the only one endulging myself this year. That's so nice that you were at Flock! Unfortunately, it would be quite the trip for me and is not feasible for me. But I hope you had fun!

The thing that is making me very anxious is your fringe which is cut strangely and one side is covering your eye. Oh god the other side is covering the other eye now. It’s taking my attention from what you’re saying. Please cut your fringe or clip it back, it’s beyond irritating.

Wow what purchases! And good for you to show restraint! Skein….not skeen?
you’re so right, i will NEVER financially recover from this year’s flock lol.
