I love the way you are with your kids! I'm a grandma now and a REALLY good one, but I feel like I was way too busy when I raised my own family. I wasn't good at prioritizing their needs. It's good to see that motherhood could be done in a different way! ❤ good job Mama!

I agree! I’ve been amping up the fat and protein for the kiddos in the morning, just to ward off their aback desires. When we do meat and eggs for all, they’re rarely hungry for lunch before 1-1:30.
Yes! You are so right about kids having hands on experience with food and that it will help them choose to eat that food. My first child did not like a ton a food. One was salads. So, we decided to grow a garden and my 4 year old food hater joined me from planting the seeds to harvesting the food. And much to my surpprise the salad went right into her mouth. To this day she looooves salads. Wisdom is a wonderful thing from God.
I tried a pantry challenge a couple of months ago. I only made it through a couple of days before I had to make a run to the store. It was harder than I thought. You have a beautiful family!
It is very telling of how well stocked we were. In the future I’ll plan to make my own “junk” like crackers and such, but when everyone is sick and tired, sometimes you just go buy it to be done. Thank you for the kind words, and thanks for watching! 💕
Any challenge will teach us something, so you didn't fail! You learned to have those "tummy foods" and whatever other holes were in the pantry. That's a success! There are always gonna be "oops" I don't have x,y,z. I'd rather know now while I can run out and get them, than need to figure out how to make them when nothing is available. Good job momma, you did really well! Hope all are on the mend.
Thank you! I also can make those items, and do on occasion, but not in a pinch! We will keep some around going forward. We have 5 kiddos, and 4 of them have come down with a viral GI bug. Doc says 7-10 days for complete recovery, which has been our experience. Unfortunately/fortunately, they’re all taking turns. We have completed week 2, and should be well in 5 days, UNLESS the 5th gets it too. 🫣 I’m not sure how he’s escapes so far. I’m ready for spring! Thanks for watching. I hope to see you back soon!
I actually agree with that! My kiddos find the challenge fun, and my son was thinking we shouldn’t go to the store. I told him that kiddos will always come before a YT challenge, and to start making the list. 💕 Thanks for watching!
I love all the Pampered Chef items! Btw, put a thin towel or washcloth under the cutting mat to help with sliding. I just found your channel so I'm going to watch a few of your videos. 😊
We eat chicken almost everyday, my 2 youngest don’t really like meat and since we are eating healthier chicken was the best option. I like how you try to save money by making everything homemade and garden and can.
Just found your family and channel I love it. I'm sorry your all sick and prayers for you to all recover soon. Your little ones are adorable great job teaching them the way around cooking . Looking forward to seeing you all

Welcome!! I’m the only one eating carnivore, but a couple do the kids are pretty meat based naturally. My week 3 challenge is coming out tomorrow with chaffels, pork loin and more! Thanks for watching!
Meal prep is actually part of 2 of my 3 girls "chores". They prefer their bacon "baked" too. Those eggs look awesome. I put my pre-chopped and pre-cooked items in the freezer too.
my oldest is 15 and has been "helping" since she was still in a highchair at 2 yrs old. She loved to spread and mash things. The younger is 12 and has been helping since she was 3. She had developmental issues and was unable to really grasp smaller spoons but she could spread sauce and things with larger spoons and whisks with larger handles @@thehometownhomestead
Did you mean this for the Canuary video? I just want to make sure you get the proper credit in case you accidentally commented on the Pantry Challenge instead. Thanks for watching, either way. 👍
I do pizza on parchment paper on my PC bar pan - I don’t use a crust, just a tiny bit of tomato sauce and a pile of cheese then the toppings and more cheese. I pile it all in the Center of the pan because it spreads - so yummy.
What a wonderful kitchen adventure! Marvelous recipes and preparations. I really enjoyed watching you and your children prep together, very inspiring and informative!!
Not yet! I was going to do it last night, but my kiddos requested an old favorite soup that we haven’t had in ages. I’m going to put that on the list for this weeks menu. Thanks for sharing, and welcome!
Ooooooo. I never considered having my steaks ribbon sliced. It’s not listed as an option but I bet he’ll do it if I ask. Not sure husband would agree to that. 🤔 But I could not tell him, and just buy extra steaks from another source whose steaks he prefers, anyway. You have just made my life easier, thank you!
We used to have the round steak tenderized, but it just wasn’t near as useful or easy to manage with kids, as this is. My husband loves it, but he loves stir fry dishes and hates spending his entire meal cutting up food for the kiddos. 🤷♀️ And yea, just tell them you want it done on the bacon slicer. They’ll do it!
I fry my rice first then scramble an egg in then add some protein, green onions, frozen peas, and mushrooms. Soy sauce to taste. Cover and steam for three or four minutes. Perfect every time.
I have peppers frozen too, and use them on occasion. I also add them to pizzas, but the little lady that’s demanding her morning eggs doesn’t like “the green things” in her eggs. 😬

Thanks for watching, glad you enjoyed it! We’ve been a dT family for a decade now! I actually used to teach classes, but stopped when one of my kiddos got very sick, and my priorities changed. We will always have them around!

Yes, we have snacks and they have more desserts than I’d like, honestly! 😆 Their grandma bakes all of the sweets they could ever ask for weekly for the family dinner, and then often brings the extras when she’s swinging in all week. We do also occasionally make cinnamon rolls and always something for birthdays. That said, I prefer they fill up on other things, and not develop the need for something sweet. As for me, I’ve had 5 babies in 10 years. I was carrying 15 extra pounds, which I have lost since changing to a Carnivore diet mid November, but that’s not the reason that I switched up my eating. I’m looking to focus on increasing my fat a protein consumption, kick a life long sugar addiction, and help my oral health, which has struggled with each pregnancy and nursing. I will also say, I used to crave snacks all of the time, and I don’t anymore. It’s as if my body was never truly satisfied in the past, but now is! Many others say the same thing after kicking carbs and sugars. Does that make sense? I’m happy with me weight, but would still be in the healthy range +/- 10 lbs. Thanks for watching, and I appreciate your question. I hope to “see” you back soon!

I am pretty sure part of the reason this pantry challenge is organized is to help everyone with preparedness. You can make some bread and put it in the freezer for those kinds of emergencies (of course if you don't have an emergency you will need to use your frozen bread up before it gets freezer burn- but I think you've made something with frozen bread scraps before even stuffing goes well with a lot of different meats). I also want to add this, My children are all adults and i know how things go when you have a house full of young children, I commend you for going to the store during this Pantry challenge and getting the few supplies that your sick children needed.
Thank you for the kind words. My kids actually really enjoy the challenge, so they didn’t want me to go grab the needed supplies, but I just laughed and made the list. They come first, always.
