      @@karim_touati Hey there Karim, youll have to remove the camera from the rig to use it on the RS2. You can use the camera with the cage, but not the entire setup as it would be too heavy. I've kept my camera in the cage and used it on the gimbal (thanks to the quick release plate), but you wouldn't want to use the entire setup on a gimbal. Thanks for your kind words and support!

    Spent about 5 hours researching rig parts for the a7S III; your video was the best by far. Compared your choices vs everyone else and you seem to have the best bang-for-buck and performance suggestions. Thank you so much!!!

      Glad it helped, Dan! There are definitely more expensive and cheaper options out there (and admittedly, some luxuries on this rig... that wooden side handle!) but was going for solid and still affordable. Thanks for the kind words and watching!

      The Kondor HDMI chord you showed in the video WILL NOT do Pro Res Raw at 60 FPS, only at 24 FPS. You need to purchase the Atomos HDMI cable for that. So do not buy the Kondor Blue HDMI cable.

    Thanks for all of the great information! I have the Smallrig V mount plate minus the articulating arm I got for my A7s3, and thought I would get one for my A7IV, but considering the 3204. One thing I keep seeing in comments and reviews is that the articulating arm is not strong enough, and several have said it broke not long after buying it. Smallrig makes great products, but wonder if a V mount battery is just too much weight for it. Has that been your experience?

    • @keith-knittel
      @keith-knittel  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey there Tim, sorry I just saw this - I've been using the articulating arm since this video came out and I can understand if you're using giant batteries that it would be an issue. I've been using the FXLion nano two and ZGcine 99 and havent had issues with the arm holding the batteries up. BUT, that being said, I always make sure to unscrew the arm all the way before repositioning the arm. I could see if you don't "unlock" the arm all the way, and once a heavier V-mount battery is on there, stipping the teeth on the arm and it being more difficult to use over time. I have had to tighten the 4 hex screws that attach the articulating arm to the battery plate itself though. I also have the crab mount version of this plate and have had to do it on that version as well. I'm going to use locktite next time I have to tighten the screws because thats pretty annoying. If you use heavy batteries, or are just a little rough on your gear, I'd look into the 3203. That's a fixed mount, with the same battery plate. The battery plate itself is great, tons of connection options - but the sturdier mount might be better for you

    2nd follow up question(s) please; approximately how much does the full rig weigh (?) …and… the *ND filter* link - you have found it to be versatile for a number of day time time conditions? (I’m getting ready to order) thank you Keith

    • @keith-knittel
      @keith-knittel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They there roz! The nd filter isn’t very versatile at all. It one strength and it has to be swapped to change ND, but if you have multiple filter size lenses and you have time if you need to swap filters, it’s great! But if you’re looking for something versatile, I have a Peter McKinnon vnd from polar pro that I absolutely love! Check out my run and gun a7siii rig video for more on that. As for the weight, I’m not sure off the top of my head! I’m not home by my camera right now but it’s pretty heavy if you’re filming for a long time but I like the weight because it makes the camera more stable when filming handheld. I take breaks and put the camera down if I’m filming for long periods, like a wedding or something. It’s a great handheld/tripod setup since you can swap quickly between the two!

      @@keith-knittel Yes for sure 4 stops is not variable. I guess my thought was that you would possibly use that one more often than not on typical sunny day. And, as for weight …understandable that the weight is what creates stability. Really appreciate your responses…thanks!!!

      I moved my office around and moved my sound treatment for this video - other videos are better. My bad on this one.

    You've given me a ton of advice on setting up my gimbal and raven eye. Your light situated on the right is far too harsh for your skin tone. Its not a pleasing look here, unlike your other videos. Keep up the great work!

      Yeah - I agree. Was trying something with those lights and not a huge fan of it either. Thats the beauty of TH-cam and trial and error! Thanks for the honest feedback and kind words, I do appreciate it!

    The: pronounce it "thuh" when the next word begins with a consonant sound, and pronounce it "thee" when the next word begins with a vowel sound.
    Thank you.

      Thanks for pointing this out, I know this but at some points I just completely forget to reinforce this. Will try to do better.

    Hi Keith … just signed up for your email list and really appreciating your work on these videos. Just pricing out this entire list and one question; on the Ninja 5 can touch focus and touch tracking work on the monitor screen? If not do you know of any monitor that will work with my A7s iii (already own this part)…thanks

    • @keith-knittel
      @keith-knittel  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello there Roz, Thanks for signing up! Hope you enjoy! As for the monitor, You'll be able to see what youre tracking with the monitor if you have HDMI Info display checked, but for actually selecting points (even though touch screen monitors are "touch screen") you'll have to tap the target on the screen of the A7SIII to start tracking. This is a limitation of the camera, I hope this helps!

      @@marvis10 sorry, just saw this. I'm not familiar with that battery, but to power the a7S III without any drain on the battery, you'll want to use a 9v 3a battery. You can use a 5v battery, but it will only extend the battery life slightly, not run the camera for as long as the battery has power.
