I recently found your channel. Have watched most of your videos. Great progress! I initially built a Ben Eater inspired breadboard CPU and got it to a point I could run Snake on a 16x2 character lcd (I have some videos of that). I've recently started my next project which is similar to this (backplane, 8-bit CPU, etc.) so finding your series helpful to work out what works and what doesn't. Keep up the good work.
Nice! I would like to try building a CPU from logic chips at some point. I think the approach of modules on a backplane has worked well for the 8-bit computer project: prototype on breadboard, then build the module on a protoboard or PCB in a permanent form. Will be watching your project with interest.
Just watced this video, DRC rules help on mis-named tracks. I'm not sure it's a proper first PCB without some bodge wires either. I'm working on a 68000 based computer but have a 6809 design ongoing as a side project. Sill working though some of your earlier videos, but it's interesting to sew how you're getting to this point.
I should really make more use of DRC. I tend to want to rush so I can get the PCB designs sent in, so I can get the boards faster :-) I'm planning to try implementing a 68008-based CPU and glue logic module at some point. I have a lot of nostalgia for the 68k architecture, although I never really used it much back in the day.
@@davehohacks The Amiga was my favorite computer so attached to the 68000. Will comment more when caught up on some of the videos but looking forward to seeing where you go here
