The line was opened in 1903 by Hastings Borough Council. The line was originally operated on the water balance principle, and the twin towers of the upper station contained water tanks for this purpose. Hastings has for me a special place in my heart, around 1961 because we were made homeless me and my 3 brothers were taken from London to Hastings to live with foster parents, we were there for around 12 months, after London it was like living in paradise, the love we received from our foster parents is something i will never forget, Aunty Peggy i would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the care you gave us, you had a daughter called Rachell, your home was in High St. i cant remember much as i was only 9 at the time, If any one knows Rachell please give her my regards. our names are Andrew , Michael, Christopher and George.

Poirot's Hastings? Years ago I saw a movie on TH-cam, its name was B&B. I really liked the movie filmed in Hastings, so I'm now watching this. Sometimes I see live streaming of Hastings. I like Hastings!

It funny how we remember different places. Up until the mid 70s, Hastings was lovely, but then bad redevelopment and the start of the costa del dole, turned it to one of the worst coastal towns in the South East. It is picking up now , but still has a way to go, The late 70s and 80s decay will take a while to erase.
