Van-tastic! 2023 Mercedes V-Class Review

- The Mercedes V-Class might look like a van in a posh outfit, but it's become a popular choice for chauffeuring A-listers and VIPs for good reason: it's roomy, luxuriously trimmed, and very discreet.
The 2023 V-Class is available with two engines and in two body lengths. The standard body is 5.14m long, while the extra long body measures 5.37m. The engines are both two twin-turbocharged, four-cylinder diesels, and both paired with a nine-speed automatic gearbox. The entry-level V220 d produces 163bhp, while the flagship V300 d has 237bhp. There's also a fully electric EQV with a range of around 200 miles from a charge - although bear in mind that's less than half what you'll manage in the diesel.
In this CarGurus UK review, Rebecca Jackson tests the extra long V300 d to see what the V-Class has to offer, be it for families, celebrities or VIPs. Practicality is explored across the V-Class's three twos and eight full-size seats, plus Rebecca weighs up the driving position and infotainment, and of course takes the big Mercedes for a drive to see how it behaves on the road.
Would you consider a V-Class over a big SUV?

I'm not a van person but would love something like this
In the market for one of these at the moment, as I’m starting a chauffeur business. Very timely thank you!
A great quick review Rebecca. For wannabe VIP's or VIP's that want to travel slightly incognito this car/van works. On British roads it makes a lot more sense than a stretch limo. If it was my money I'd go for this over the Defender as I don't need the crazy off road performance.
I covered the DTM for Red Bull Spain from late 2014 to 2019. The media shuttles for Audi, BMW and Mercedes were manufacturer-related (for Audi, they started being VW transporters T6). I usually wanted to get the Mercedes, because I could ride shotgun and it was pretty much like this one. It became my wet dream of a car. Yeah, more than many sports cars…
One of the best Large Family MPVs on sale 😊
V Class Mercs always been a good bet. Easy going and adaptable
Springsteen on tour use & love these
Why does no one ever mention the built in Towing bar in the tool compartment and electric hookup?
Luv the review Rebecca, in a few weeks or months Mercedes will release the facelift of the V klasse. New front and fully updated dashboard.
This girl really is an absolute stunner in every sense of the word!
Really nice car too 😎🔥♥️
Love it
Aloha from Hawaii! Always love your videos Rebecca! I'm looking to get the new BMW i4 E40. Can you please do a video review on that vehicle soon? Much Mahalo
can’t be added ventilated seats?
Good little video but making too much of the cost “just being a van”. All modern vans are ace but even basic ones are expensive.
Just buy a Vito normal minibus instead as they are cheaper.
@@pb5x5 that is true, although still quite pricey. I guess that Mercedes are keeping their prices in parallel to VW Caravelles, which are equally costly. Both have very good residuals, which mitigates against high initial costs a bit.
@davidhayes4814 really want a van but could never justify how much of a bank dent it would make
@@davidhayes4814residual only relevant if you’re selling on.
75 k bet it will still rust like all merc vans ! Lol .. still it’s practical … nice review
Ideal vehicle for golfers
Fency frigde on wheels!
Oh, the dashboard is still way better than a Peugeot’s, for instance… even with the “age” it has…
Looks good for picking up street walkers.
It's a van!
This car was 50k pre covid
Why is average Mpg lower than pre facelift model which if 44mpg combined on 2.2 engine with a 7 speed gearbox... Newer engine should be better... im confused😮
👍
I want one 😂😂😂
👍🏻
Lots of VIPs get dropped off at posh Johannesburg 🇿🇦schools in this van
ANC elites and their families
I don't get why anyone would choose a 7 seat SUV over something like this, unless they really believe their 3rd-row passengers would rather be squished against the seats in front of them than be caught dead in a van.
Can you please translate and edit somewhere on screen fuel consumption in L/100 km for european subscribers since that is only thing we don't understand.
Why is the 2023 V Class on a 21 plate
Why AMG Line? What about if you find ‘sporty’ pointless? What about comfort? And no diesel, thanks…
Impossible to believe that Harry passed on this superior woman to marry a diva from our lunatic state....🙄🤮
i'd even move across the pond if i had been given the chance to have twins with her....🤗
meanwhile, another great review.😇👍
Try searching toyota alpahrd or toyota vellfire. This two toyota's beats v class by far
75 grand really, no wonder you never see them on the road
it is a van.
Looks like Rebecca might be looking for a 3 child compatible car (if yes then congrats)? Or do I need new glasses.
No you don't I was wondering the same
Driving the front wheels I thought its RWD🤔
Poor boot space for luggage
Yep, still a van and being a diesel kind of kills the deal really!
A diesel is what makes it good.
I can hear the creaking already 70 grand ….nope
73k 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I had it the full electric no engine curtoucy car for one week I phone them to take the car back because absolutely rubbish the battery drains out quickly and kw electric very expensive at petrol station I am not talking about v class with engine talking about full electric don't buy it it's much expensive than petrol to run
