If you're looking for something specific (such as Astral Traffikrab), checking the Unstable Fusions is another viable option. The Anathema tends to not be shiny, and the beast it is fused with is tends to be set. For example, if a Traffikrab is part of the Unstable Fusion, you can flee, sac a tape of the type you want, then restart the fight. The Traffikrab will be the type that you sacrifice. Not exactly the most reliable method, as you have to have a decent understanding of what spawns in what areas for potential Unstable Fusions, on top of finding the one you want in the first place, but it is another method.

I'm literally gonna turn this into a guide video myself, because I'm amazed this comment is the only place I've seen this advice. As a sidenote, I've not only confirmed this seems to work consistently via save scumming to check it wasn't just luck that it worked, but I've also discovered it works on Traffikrab Swarms as well. On normal Rogue Fusions it can sometimes "reroll" the Traffikrab half of the fusion into a new unwanted species, but on Swarms the species can't change I think, so it changes to match the type instead.

Bootleg glitter palygolin (baby form I don't remember any of their real names 😅) and one other that I can't remember right now, but my favorite one is Kuniko because I didn't realize the legendary encounters could be bootleg!

Nice tip, not the best. You can also try to find areas where you can go in and out ( like a cave or building ) that will respawn the monsters. It's limited to some areas where you walk in and there are beasts, no shiny, step out and come back in, (respawn). I get a shiny every 15-25 minutes, but limited to the beast and level for that niche area
Once I found out my partner's get a huge bonus for using their specific monsters they started with Id make my partner use them every time. My character would be the one using the extra types.

I don’t know if bootleg odds are boosted in the post game but within about 5 hours of beating the game I found 4 with no candles or anything, just knocking out Rogue fusions. 2 of them were over wold also. didn’t find a single one the entire story
I got a ice bootleg pombomb from barkley and i thought it was supposed to be like that. also my friend and i have a file and when we got into the game there was a glitter bootleg cluckster
Ritual Candles only work on fusions, so it shouldn't work on legendary encounters. That being said, they will have the same static effect that regular monsters have when even when they are static. A fire bootleg averevoir will also be red in the overworld for example.
I remember seeing a video of someone going in and out of a cave to reset the visible encounters to bootleg hunt fast ; I tried that for a bit going in and out of the house nearby to the trafikrab spawn then checking the 2 nearest spawns then going back, but after 20 minutes I didn't find anything and I wasn't sure if it was actually working because their positions were staying the same. Would love more info on this if anyone has it
that method worked in the demo...they changed the de-spawn radius to a larger circle in the full release which is why fleeing or fighting them is quicker way to de-spawn the area currently (could change in a future update tho)
@@BerryBandit For caves it worked for sure for me after release. And it's easy to deteremine when the spawns change (e.g. from 2 Faucetear to Terracooka and Carnviper). Not sure if all spawns follow the rule though.

I love the idea of bootlegs but it is a pain for sure. 50 fusion shards are a nightmare. And luck has been worthless for me. I've farmed for astral traffickrab for 20 hours with no luck. Every time I pick astral it's the monster. Everything I pick traffickrab it's plastic. Lol. A second item and specifically being type vs monster would have been better.
20 minutes into the game I ran into a shiny traffickab, I killed it :( I knew something was fishy about the red lettering but I only had one catch thing.
I’m 99% sure near the very start of the game I was roaming round and found a glittery Pombomb dog thing. I had no idea it was rare and didn’t catch it as I was unsure what I was doing at this point. So disappointed 🤣
I did the same thing! I don’t remember what it was but it was glittery. It’s wild going into the game not knowing any of the monsters cuz you really don’t know what’s going on. I found a poison traffikrab early game too, but didn’t fully know how recording worked yet so I failed it. I was very sad.

Ok I love watching videos of "shiny hunting" and I know this video is a month old, but I gotta know, how rare is it that your partner in the game will get a bootleg? When I first partnered up with Barkley, his Pombomb was a bootleg of ice type....I need to know how rare that is!
does anyone know how to turn off the skills that damage opponents at start of turn? Inparticular im talking about the dash upgrade ability. It tends to kill the Krabs instantly :(

My first playthrough, I found a Metal-typed Traffikrab and a shiny (Glitter) Nevermort.
I love the candle but the grind is rough
I didn't realize how rare they are. I got two Bootleg Traffikrabs about 10 minutes apart. I can't believe it in hindsight

Astral traffikrab is the only bootleg I found so far lolol, now I got a Magikrab

Not me missing a shiny coal furnace guy cuz I though he was red since I’d just never seen him I was a lil confused now sad
I fainted a shinny (bootleg) my 1stbaftwrnjust like 20 minutes of gameplay lol it was shinny in the overworld it was the traffic cone beast

That is in fact scripted. Barkley's partner is always an ice bootleg of Pombomb. Other partners will never come in with a bootleg.
