I really think you should consider a drone camera angle at launch- something we can see who has pulled away the cleanest better as the current side angle makes judging the distance impossible.

This drag race put a huge smile on my face. NA V12 with Gintani exhaust vs a turbo 3 cylinder with an insane power/displacement ratio. And to give you an idea of how crazy that tuned GR Yaris is. It's making 630hp from a 1.6L engine. That's roughly 394hp/L. A Koenigsegg Jesko makes 320hp/L. The current F1 V6 engines make roughly 550hp/L, more or less. But the new F1 V6 engines in 2026 will only have 336hp/L. Assuming the displacement stays the same, at 1.6L. So 394hp/L is kinda insane ngl.
Hold on for a sec... A three cylinder city car can do a quarter in 11 sec. This has been a level of super sport and super expensive cars not that long time ago. Impressive! Hats off! Hands up!!

The main factor is the aerodynamics. Aerodynamic drag is proportional to the square of the velocity. Front cross section tells you all you need to know.
@@hyd119 aero really matters only over 100-150km/h (square of the speed, but air density is very low, so the contribution at low speed is minimal). And the Yaris is narrower than the Ferrari, so the difference is not as large as you may think. Having 200 more horses and less mechanical losses (RWD vs AWD) is as big of a factor as aero is.
@hyd119 aerospace engineer here, with long experience in the car field. I'm eyeballing, and I may be wrong, but my guts tell me aero isn't the main factor in the 1/4 mile run. In the 1/2 mile rolling is another story. The Yaris aero is good for a hatchback, but the Ferrari is another kind of beast, and the Yaris isn't built to go 250km/h.
I paused the video and then looked at it frame for frame, but Mat really timed it perfectly and the Yaris starts to move exactly at the same moment as the hands start coming down. So he didn't really jump the start there. Sam's response time was rather bad, the Ferrari first starts to move when the hands are more than halve way down. This made it look like Mat had jumped it.

I was cheering on the GRY HARD! That GR held it's ground really well and is WAY cooler then a catless 8-Superfast. (Geeze, really?) Those of you in Europe that can get your hands on a GR Yaris are SO lucky! I am so envious.
Gr yaris is ruined with all the mods and chavvy windscreen tint. What makes it fun is being able to use the revs and shift on normal roads, at 600+hp sequential it becomes a track toy only. Nobody wants to deal with all that noise as a daily and the power makes it so you barely need to shift or keep car in powerband
The GR Yaris is one fun car to drive. I have one with about 10k in mods stashed away at my holiday house and use it whenever i'm there lol. Driven the 812 GTS and its something I would daily.
I've seen & videoed alot of cars in my 25 years when I met Olly & saw his SV, 812, McLaren & Lamborghini urus all together the 812 is ear bleeding loud it's the loudest NA road car I've ever Heard & Olly is such a humble down to earth guy too💙
Sam (a former F1 driver) is definitely the right driver for that rear wheel drive beast of an 812. So let's see what happens guys and gals. No spoilers! 👍

Not sure about the 812 but... The Aventador, when it gets its Gintani exhaust treatment, also gets a special Gintani tune that makes it pop more as well as increases its power. Possibly the case here as well.

Once that Ferrari hooks it' gets going. That V12 mated to the Gintani sounds melodious, it's unmatched.
