I'm currently riding a 2020 patrol that has been custom built from the ground up. gx axs on shimano cassette and chain, carbon cranks, carbon frame, fox 38 and a dhx2 with a cane creek progressive spring etc etc. it weighs atleast 37-38 pounds. It doesn't climb well but like you said, no bike really pedals "well" unless youre on a cross country race bike or a super light hardtail. i've come to the realization that no matter what bike i ride, if the bike suits my riding style then it is very likely gonna be awful at pedaling but I don't really care as long as i have fun on the downhills. Last weekend i did a big enduro race for the first time ever and it was 23 miles of riding, 4k vert gain and all of it was done on my patrol. @@testtesttesttesttest884 More modulation, yes. Power is dependent on the model. Saints have more power then a RSC. Although power is irrelevant if it’s uncontrollable. Excellent review. Went with Commencal (Meta AM) over this one cause of availability. Paint issue is a bummer, I'd RideWrap it but that's a pretty small issue. And agree about the XT being better with brake pump. Had my bike at Mountain Creek with my RSCs and after 2 days I was hurting pretty bad. My bike was in the shop so grabbed a rental with XTs, WAY more comfortable.

Interesting to hear your take on the XT stuff, I am going from XT to SRAM Code RSC's and GX AXS with my new Wreckoning. Only one short ride in so far, so can't compare just yet. I can tell that the Codes are not as sensitive, we'll see if I end up liking that or not. I can say the GX AXS is sick though, outside getting used to the shifter.
@@gabrielsegura1530 Not enough time on it so far, but it is butter smooth and the fact that it moves out of the way on impact should hopefully diminish chances of damage. Plus you can micro adjust individual shift points so you do not have that one gear that seems to not shift right. Charge only takes about 1 hour and lasts 20-ish riding hours per charge, so I do not think it will be a big deal (I do have a second battery just in case).
Fellow evil owner here (following), I love the shimano drivetrains and XT brakes for trail use but the Code RSC’s are way better for enduro/DH in my opinion. They handle the heat better, havent tried AXS drivetrain yet.
I've tried almost every top end dh brake on the market and have come to like the code rsc's the most. Stock rotors overheat a bit fast so I run magura mdrp 220's and it's the best i could have wished for. Oh, and when you bleed them, I would say don't follow manufacturer recommendations If you want a solid bite point.

Fine ass bike. I nearly bought one, went with a 22 Levo because like you say pedaling sucks ass. I'm still tempted to buy one as I'm missing an analogue bike now
Better at giving more ass clearance on the steeps. No more butt buzzing on the tire. Worse at carrying speed and getting through big braking bumps. Bike only really gets more nimble on a mullet bike if the chainstay shortens too
I'm planning on building a Scout Alloy and I would definitely do a custom paint as I don't like the color color options. I wouldn't worry about the bearings. The rubber gasket Specialized uses don't help much at all. Bearings still get dirty and dry after some time.
7 months later and a new season how has your option changed? Bearings ok etc. I ended up buying the silver(raw) bike so scratches wouldn’t be an issue l.
Shimano brakes are great with how crisp they are. But, having that breakpoint float around on you during a critical point in the trail will freak you out. It will change randomly in either direction and it will completely interfere with your focus when you notice it. A few pumps usually rectifies it, but depending on the timing, it could be dangerous.
