The Kinks, one of the most brilliant yet criminally underrated rock bands ever.
Ray Davies has never received the credit he deserves as songwriter, and a singer. I saw them live three times in the late '70s & early '80s, and was never disappointed.

I sat in the front row in Melbourne in June '64 at the Beatles concert, then the Stones in Feb '65. Sorry to say never saw perhaps the greatest band of them all: the Kinks; certainly the greatest song writers. And Yes Dave Davies is underrated as a Guitarist!. I still might get to see them as they are the only 60's Band with all members still alive!

Saw them in the late 70s at the Milwaukee Arena. It was right after they released Low Budget: still one of my favorite albums. Went with my girlfriend but most of my buddies didn’t want to go. Didn’t share my appreciation for them. They didn’t even sell out the relatively small venue but they put on a great show. My girlfriend became a fan.

The Kinks were such a special voice through the 60s & 70s. IMO Ray is a master songwriter, eclipsing Lennon/McCartney and the Glimmer Twins. Waterloo Sunset was the quintessential pop song of the era. BTW, Dave is an under-appreciated guitarist. He was the first one with metal chops.

I was at this show. I drove down from Boston with My late Brother Michael and stayed at the Hotel rite next to the Providence Civic Center. It was Pouring after the show. People were scrambling everywhere to avoid the rain. We had to run like 30 seconds to the hotel and we were good. Will never forget that night. Miss You Michael. 🙏❤️

For all I know we might have been in the crowd in Providence that night, saw them in Boston, Portland Me. Our hometown of New Haven also Madison Square Garden and some place in New Jersey and then the Polestra in Philly, what a barn that place was.All I know was those shows were some of the best memories I have as a rebellious teenager, what a freaking great band they were such great music and great shows.
