I thought it came out in 1998
I am 67 and have been playing SC since the demo that only included about 5 scenarios. Before that I played WCII. I learn a lttie from these videos. Sometimes I see micro that is amazing fast but I see to many strategic mistakes. There is little if any positional play.

If you watch closely you can see the scourge fly into it before he clicks away.
For some reason these brood war games just feel... grittier... than sc2. Maybe its the older graphics or the lack of flashieness. But... ya. I like it. Also flash joke unintended.
Also the music.
Its beacause units ahve much more hp andess demege so they die slower and thats why batlles looks like more epick
Also game is more balanced and units are almost always splitted on the map
I play sc2 and i really enjoy but i love watching brood war batlles
But most important thing why batlles in brood war looks just great are reallu well designed maps
Mals in sc2 are almost all the same maps in brood war are just amazing
It isn't that they die slower because of more hp or less damage Nadziej... The 12 control limit really puts a handicap on unit control for the massive engagements; making them develop slower most times - and thus, slower damage onset. As someone who has seen a lot of multicommand hacks for the original BW, and enough massive battle maps - I can tell you, even with default stats, they can die so quickly in the right circumstances, very much like SC2.
Also, how the minerals structured - also speeds up the game for sc2. How bases are generally captured between the races in SC1 I think was the superior system, and it did make for generally more slower pacing.
don't forget the sound effects too. It just **feels** so much more raw, real and in-your-face.
SC2's visual effects are like a kiddie's picture book and its sound effects are like silenced farts.

That last game was a almost a perfect example of what happens when you fail to keep the science vessel count down before the late game comes. With high enough numbers they just counter every strategy the zerg usually tries against terran.
KEEP DOING BROOD WAR!!!!!! This is the best channel I can find with BROOD WAR in ENGLISH. Keep up the great work and don't let peoples negative comments change your great work. There are thousands of people that watch these still and subscribed because of your brood war videos like me. Falcon I keep finding your "older" content through youtube suggestions, and I think you are the sole SC:BW caster in 2019 because TH-cam has failed to recommend anyone else.
Please keep doing this if you can continue to find replays, this is my favorite passtime at work
Broodwar is far more interesting than SC2. SC2 feels bit boring due to "who makes first mistake loses" in comparison to SC:BW's "who makes least amount of mistakes wins".

When I started watching this video I thought to myself, "man I wish he'd cast full series!" And then you mentioned it! I'm all for it. It's awesome to see the full picture.
Flash makes everything look easy.. It's crazy how hard it is to play against zerg and dark swarm but he makes it look like dark swarm is a shitty spell.
A lot of the critiques are silly, but they're right about the mini-map. Gotta catch that action. Sometimes you're trying to check upgrades or focusing on production tabs instead, which is where the frustration comes, but that said...hope you know you're hella appreciated and overall it's been good work.

It is not necessary of you to pay attention.to.the.minimap all the time, only you.have to have at hand a written list of time points when.important skirmishes happen having watched.the game many times before.That's it.

Simply put, true mastery of BW is just more impressive than true mastery of SC2. I can't even watch SC2 after getting into BW

just something to consider..
First time seeing a Firebat in Remastered, zoomed in. Beautiful. Also, Flash was sort of BM with those vessels at the end there. Lol. Running around with no protection using them as weapons in and of themselves. Effort finally GG'd at the last "eraser" irradiate.
I remember the first time seeing wall offs and vulture jumping through pylons and being mind blown. Oh and the stop lurkers..

In any case, you've been saying that you appreciate the comments and hints from the community. Here are few tips on how really great guys were commenting on the original Broodwar:
Check out the channels like VioleTAK, moletrap, KlazartSC, Diggity SC, NukeTheStars, HDStarcraft. They have a ton of value regarding commenting on the builds and strats that were done in the day; and the small things that you'll be able to incorporate in your own commentaries. Maybe You'll find it useful. Whatever the case, let me know.

mobility, hitpoints, spells itself, cheapness of spells, speed,....

Hey Falcon, why is Restoration or Optical Flare flare not used in MP? Useless?
Most pros don't want to take the time/resources to research those, and would rather use the energy on healing.
Only here for Broadwar games, too bad its only once a week.
P.S. You can follow units in remaster for smooth scrolling with army. Right click a unit to follow it.

As with past caster, they don't have production tab, drones' count and most of them are speaking in korean.
Yes, you can load old replays in the current Brood War client and get the production tab and worker count and stuff.

in regards to the minimap, Husky went all the way to pulling up another monitor and have it display only the minimap so he wouldn't miss stuff.
Love the broodwar content, I also like seeing fastest map possible content, I know sometimes these pros have played on the big money maps and it's fun to see what they can do with them.
Also take in account that tastosis just cast, they dont control what they see, there are people specialized on that, so separate what you have to do, be a good viewer and then be a good caster.
Thank you for casting these good old brood war games, I really enjoy it! I do wish, however, that you go easier on the zooming in and out and lowered your scrolling speed. Thank you and keep up the good work!

Falcon Paladin new client now shows worker count. Saw that in asl thought it was plugin ; )
Ohhhh yeah of course. There's not a plugin, just the updated client has it. This replay is from 2018, before the update.
