      I used the holiday discount at a big retailer and that put 75 useable watts very close to the cost of the Boss so I went with the PJD4 and bought good drum app for my phone. I think I made the better choice. It arrives soon.

    Looks VERY much like the 4 speaker Roland Micro Cube, but it has a Comp/Overdrive(and most bassist use the Comp) and a coveted looper(Roland MB does not have these two). Good to see more smaller practice amps appearing on the market

    It is interresting when you watch out for a small practice amp at home and when you somehow need the options. For "only"practicing the amp is to expensive. Grap the Warwick BC 10 it is small, it is simple and it sounds for price and size really good.

    I own this amp, the bluetooth expend a lot the possibilities for this amp, a shame that you havento get it as an option because it really open up this amp like you can choose what fonctions the footswitch have, have more drum loops, have a ton more option to taylor your sound...
    If you want a footswitch, make sure it is unlatching, otherwise it will not work properly (you will need to switch 2x each time to emulate an unlatching switch).
    Finally, as this amp is not grounded with the kind of power plug it come with, you get a fair amonth of statics even on a clean setup with noise gate. There is a ground screw in the back and I took advantage of that to make a ground plug, that stopped the unwanted noises, but you need to be fairly trained as an electrician to do it properly.
    Finally, the lack of a tuner directly accessible on the amp (there is one in the app) mean you will need your phone (and the bluetooth dongle) to tune every time, wich is not really what a chill little play time is about IMO, we are all the time connected to devices and I like to disconnect when I just want a bit of practice sometime.
    Even with all these issues, it is a great amp because there is all you need in one box an it fit in an ikea billy bookshelve, so you do not have a mess in your living room.

    I tried one of these in a store becasue I really like the idea and if heas everything I need as a guitarist who wons some electric basses, it was very noisey and got worse with the compressort being engaged, did I meet a bad one?

    • @pimcramer2569
      @pimcramer2569 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It's probably your bass, especially if you have single coil pickups. A compressor amplifies noise that's already there. Could also be that you didn't plug it in an earthed contact

    • @elrrek74
      @elrrek74 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@pimcramer2569 potentially, the pickups were Bartolini MK-1 models, probably single coils, the plug in the store would have been earthed I expect. I think I should find another store with a different example of the amp, it was disappointing.

      I been playing my bass thru a boss katana guitar amp head and it was as noisy as a small town public airport.
      Plugged my computer into it after watching a TH-cam video on how to get rid of the freight train noise and it worked.

Close enough I ordered one and I think it will be better for me in the long run. Hm. Less functionality than Fender's Rumble LT25, but smaller, but still 4,4kg, but can be powered by - many - batteries. I think that 350 quid it's not an attractive offer. Maybe at 180. When I just want a mobile practice amp, I don't need all the effects, when I want an actual versatile high quality amp, I don't need it to be THAT portable.
