That's a great looking build! Well done and thanks for sharing the video! I hope to see more of this mower running around

Your design is super clean! Would be fun to build one based on a large tow mower, with FPV. I’d probably totally nerd out and make a Dalek or Captain Pike or some other body. Would be perfect for the rc field, to allow people to safely fly while mowing.

I am/have been in the process of building a remote control mower for some time. I've seen a lot of RC mowers on UTube and must admit your design and execution are among the best. I have seen some designs that I believe are from the Philippines that are quite good as well. My base mower is a Toro. I opted to mount tires/wheelchair motors directly to the mower deck in lieu of the steel box frame/mower deck you built. I have been fighting the attachment of the wheels to the mower deck using dissimilar parts obtained for go carts from Amazon. Too late to change on this build. Might commit later to a similar mower to yours next time. Also I must say your video is easy to watch and gets to the gist of what you did. I've watched many videos where there's too much talk and not enough doing.

Love the design ! You went from 13inch to 15 inch did you have to adjust the mower high ?

Thanks! Yes i did. The tire change only increased the deck height by 1”. The mower deck is fully height adjustable.

    Hy,
I'm currently working on similar projects. 4x invacare, sabertooth, Chinese RC controller.....
One question, Is it possible to remove the batteries and powered the whole system with the alternator.
24V on 50 amps is 1.2 kw off power.
    Are batteries needed at all??

Hypothetically it would be possible. Using a Sabertooth controller you will still need a small 24VDC battery source because of regenerative braking. You would also risk damaging the controller when pushing the mower without power. See controller to battery diode requirement in video and schematic diagram. I have the larger 24V batteries because my 65A alternator alone will not provide the 120A needed if the 2x60 controller is drawing 60A per motor channel. My mower engine would not have enough horse power to drive a 120A Alternator. Watch my video on the upgrade to the Sabertooth 2x60. It illustrates my screwup when sizing the motor controller.

Great work.. may I ask the size of the tires? Where did you buy it?

Hi A.C., sorry I had a typo in the video. They are Carlisle X-Track size 15x5x6. I purchased them online at Walmart.com.
