Great video! Here's a summary of the points: When you hit max level you'll be 130-140. You want 180+ for raiding or mythic+ dungeons. First thing to do: work through the max level story quests. First 2 Torgast quests give you a 161 necklace, then a 171 cloak. World quests rewards scale based on current gear, at least to ilvl 171. Callings give world quest gear. Rare crafted gear is ilvl 151, eventually 168. Normal dungeons drop 158 gear. Heroic dungeons: 171 gear. Be ilvl 155 first. Mythic0 dungeons: 184 gear. Be ilvl 165 first. PvP rewards start at 158. Gated by Renown, will be slower than dungeons. Build up your Conduits with Mythic dungeons; builds up power like items do. Reputation gear is 164 / 181 / 200, but rep is very slow to get.
All I know, is that as soon as I hit level 60 last night, I realised this expansion seems to be much more Grinding friendly than BFA. I know that Torghast is capped, Renown has to be worked, artefacts require grinding etc,... but at least I know what I have to get, what my bis pieces are and what to do next. There is a plan I can have and follow and that's an undeniable relief. Apart from that, graphics have been greatly improved, animations are really smooth and the overall look and feel of this expansion is great, at least right now, here's to hope blizzard doesn't mess it up and it stays as what seems to be a not-perfect, but surprisingly tolerable and manageable grinding experience.

What he meant is when BFA came out (and other expan) they released mostly everything at once and it’s up to you to lay out your plan and sort through the bullshit to get stuff ready. Whilst in shadowlands the process is a LOT more streamlined and with everything limited it puts a reasonable cap and goal to get all your characters too with more or less a linear path to do so.

I feel like the world quests have way more tasks than in the previous expansions and getting no whistle when unlocking worldquest makes it realy tedious considering that after finishing a wq ur left somewhere in the wild way behind enemies lines:/
@@ArjanL1979 run normals, do some BGs(you will get rekt at this point, but it's easy to get 158 gear of your choice there), if you still miss something buy 151 craft gear, it's cheap and you'll get the ilvl needed for heroics. Then do heroics. If you got 160+ try to get into a m0 group. Easy. If you got gold buy a darkmoon trinket, that'll massively boost your ilvl as they're ilvl200. If you got lots of gold buy a boe or 2, they're getting cheaper by the minute (sold the 2h sword for 300k on day2, it's ~50k or less atm).

So at about 1,000 Honor for your first BG win of the day, if you are lucky and win right away, you can grab an off piece pretty easily. Given that the upgrades to the Honor Gear pretty cheap honor wise, you might even be able to max it out (to the artificial ceiling) in an hour. At the very least, doing winning one BG a day and banking up honor and then buying that elusive piece that won't drop for you when you hit Renown 7 so you can upgrade it to 190 might not be a bad idea.
our group had ilvl 150-154. Skipped HC dungeons, went straight to mythics - ez loot! Some kind of communication mandatory to discuss strats on the go. We managed to do 5 mythics in +- less then 4 hours

I did all mm0 with 150 ilvl group. The fact is the lower u are, the most difficult is and u can really learn about strats. With 165 and above u can actually destroy everything, what is not really a good thing if u attempt to push a bit after. Sry btw if my english is a bit crap aha
I don't understand why people rush to hit endgame so quickly. I did that in BFA and spent the entire expansion bored out of my mind. I feel like these speed levelers don't take time to enjoy the actual experience of the game before they cap in just a few hours after release and then complain that there's little-to-no content.
Understandable, different for content creators they have the be first with info or they fall off. Although most og wowers hit cap to enjoy the endgame power grind. They revamp a lot for this expan so making a lot of older systems more viable again.
For some people endgame is where the fun is, namely serious raiding. Those guys don't have issues running out of content at the start since they have multiple alts to do.
Leveling is just a pain in the ass and not enjoyable in the first place so we rush through leveling phase to have that shit done to get the real content
For anyone who has played through most of the zones, are there any faction related quests? Or is it entirely covenant specific? I love the writing for the Horde. There’s always been that quirky, funny writing style. Last night while In Bastion I felt like I was missing something.
It’s covenant specific with ties to other Covenants. At the moment this isn’t a faction based expansion, it’s about the holy crap, the people who died , continuing your service in death making the time in the living feel small. It’s world scope versus faction war .
I’m currently ilvl 165. Here’s what I did 1. Crafted a set of 151 armor 2. Ran dungeons until I was roughly 152-153 3. Did the pvp quest (collect 1500 honor) reward 500 honor. I used this honor to buy a wep and max out it’s upgrades along with a trinket as they were my lowest pieces of loot. 4. Heroics/Mythic whatever you feel comfortable with. Happy Hunting!
People had issues logging in? I started 1.5 hours after launch and I had zero queue, basically no lag and I also didnt see many players in the world. It was... odd
Okay, day one was crazy. I got a 190 boe drop that'll give me a few 100k gold. I am ilvl 148 and farmed rares that drop mounts. Got no mount sadly haha imagine that would've been crazy. I wish you all a lot of fun, shadowlands seems promising so far.
Dark Moon fairs coming up so reputation grind might ease up a little bit this would be the time to get a recruit-a-friend stacked with Darkmoon Faire and you should fly through it
What do you guys think about the Set gear ? You can level it by the same vendor via Anima. Yeah you set yourself a bit behind on upgrading the sanctum but i got like 15 Ilvl from spending a bit of anima to max them to my current renown lvl. ( 177)
You can get a full 171 gear set from pvp in one afternoon of random battlegrounds. It's currently the fastest, most reliable way to hit 170. Just spam epic bgs and you'll easily get 1k+ honor per run.
I stopped playing in cata I dabbled here and there but thats when I quit. Came back for this honestly didn't even know it came out until like 2 days ago im 58 on my druid tank right now and having fun honestly I like the level squish and the cinematic kinda questing and stuff. I'll hold my judgements for after I hit 60 and start really doing dungeons and stuff and join a guild. Last hard-core anything I did was heroic icc 25 I was a blood do tank ranked 2 on runetotem back in the day because the person above me had the legendary axe which wasn't even best in slot for the role it just had a higher item level. One thing I do like is the random upgrades you can sometimes get on gear making them blue or epic one concern I have tho and a reason I didn't like later expansions was the ring factor going into things not looking for specific gear but luck rolls on gear is that still a thing?
Guys hit max level, do torghast/dungeons for conduits. To acquire sweet loot just spam rbg snd go to pvp vendor in Oribos which will then be able to go up to rank 3, renown weekly capped, at rank 3 you’ll have ilvl 171 gear. After that do mythic+ or wait till the weeks go bye and slowly unlock the renown gear
I geared with pvp. Did all the reward for winning the first pvp match for each category respectively and that helps give a good chunk. Then after did only Random Epic BGS. If you start losing do not give up. You want kills. Rally to just kill enemy and use your remaining time killing the enemy for honor. Im not sure how you get paid out honor, if its damage done or kills, but even on a loss on some BGS I walk out with 1k honor. Also, and this could use in game testing, I dont think the difference in winning or losing the match you get a huge difference in end match honor payout (I think you get honor even if you lose just not the 225 for winning). Only time i had a chance to see this was when i ended up with exactly 0 honor after upgrades, went into epic BG and near the end had 850 ish in my currency tab and match ended right after checking and had 1000 for final payout. Again this could use some testing. Hope this helps someone.
i ran around with a 164 weapon in offhand and hero weapon in mainhand until i got the weapon token from nathria normal lol. the weapon switch gave me 3 or 4 item level alone
Please help me: My friends and I used our lvl 50 boosts so we have that level 60 item level gear it gives you. How do we get better gear than that at that item level? Is dungeons reliable to just farm out gear pieces at a low item level?
Thats actually something that people should APPRECIATE. I mean you had the best gear in the game last "adventure" it shouldn't be so quick to be replaced from a random ass quest (except this expansion because going from earth, to heaven/hell... well you would expect your first piece of gear to be 100 ilvls higher
Hi wonderfull folks , im casual player and it looks like bastion is full of xp, i just complete zone bastion and im supoust to be at level 53 ready for maldraxxus, but Im already 55, and half of the way to 56, is this normal? i took a chance on a mythic pug today i dont normally as i just hit 60 today i was item level about 145 and i tanked it alrright we had a few death and i was getting carop tunnel from spamming ignore pain but we finished ....a couple deaths but i went back to normal its far easier and to gea rup better now im stuck at 152 and cant get anything to improve maybe ill try those quests but even those i think wont get me to 155
Got to level 60 on my alt today done lol I got a covid vacation due to working near a co~worker. And I grinder the hell out this game it was fun got 2 more days till I head back to work and then I’ll farm heroics every so often lol :D till raiding opens and farm mythics
How to gear up: wait next week cuz item level is gonna inflate when all major content will be available, so there's absolutely no rush to gear fast right now, you might even lose your time of life doing so. Same thing happened in bfa. What would be worth your time is to simply do dungeons to learn their layout, be prepared for next week and get easy gear. Any other investment seems useless
im sorry, i know this was posted a year ago, but... renown even back then was so ridiculously easy to level. I myself was able to get 1-40 renown in 3 days.
i literally spent a good 8 hrs today girinding dungeons or more and im only level 152 and this guy is 174 on one toon and hes 60 on more than 1...how long was he playing? i no lifed it but this guy.......
Some of it may have been beta footage. Also, if you have a group of friends and play in an organized manner; you can vastly increase your dungeon gearing up process by trading unneeded gear pieces to people who need them.
@@cullenshadow1007 I meant the lfg thing same as normals and heroics. Cause it's often not that easy, almost all groups either just need a tank or healer (I'm a dps) or have some ridiculous gear (a gear level higher than what the dungeon even drops is a good one) or other requirement.
@mitebg Not bad reasons, just wish it was an option, maybe they could introduce HC+ similar difficulty and gear as base mythic, but no key and on the lfg. Keeping mythic separate. I dunno, I just find getting into premade groups or getting people to join my groups a pain that's not worth it.
Enjoy the experience indeed. Streamers, most of them tho not all, are sending the wrong message to the community. A very small percentage of players have the luxury of living off of playing pc games, having passive incomes or simply not having any responsibilities so you can play all day long. Therefore, transmitting the feeling of rush, "I mist get my ilvl quicker than others", I must be the first farming that dungeon, I must get the maximum points of that asap... Is simply breaking the game experiences for the majority of players. Hey, we're all free to play for hours and intensively if we like the game and have the spare time. Just don't cast false expectations on others or be demanding telling them how they should play. And to the OV, thanks for the video it has sone great insights for new level 60s.
How come this guide wasnt released before Shadowlands dropped? I really liked it but it seems like information like this was what we needed before Launch so we could focus on them earlier
@mitebg In all of his guides to Shadowlands he never talked about mythic 0 being available, I personally didn't know that and would've started them way earlier.

Step 1: Level to 60 Step 2: For about 10k you can buy item level 168 gear with your best in slot secondaries Step 3: Grind Dungeons Bonus step: research which is best in slot legendary to get and hunt it down, then craft that legendary. All the additional info he gave was useless in the short term but could be useful later. It's a good idea to do your renown levels, but slow, it's a good idea to do PvP but its slow.

In case it hasn't been mentioned yet, the max iLVL for gear from World Quests is capped by Covenant rank and increases at certain ranks.

@@attinger117 depends on the server, mid to low pop had no problems but all the high pop loging servers went down

If you start losing do not give up. You want kills. Rally to just kill enemy and use your remaining time killing the enemy for honor. Im not sure how you get paid out honor, if its damage done or kills, but even on a loss on some BGS I walk out with 1k honor.
Also, and this could use in game testing, I dont think the difference in winning or losing the match you get a huge difference in end match honor payout (I think you get honor even if you lose just not the 225 for winning). Only time i had a chance to see this was when i ended up with exactly 0 honor after upgrades, went into epic BG and near the end had 850 ish in my currency tab and match ended right after checking and had 1000 for final payout. Again this could use some testing.

Gear while leveling is balanced around fresh 50s with 50-55 ilvl prob to avoid huge hp numbers again after level squish.
Until you hit 57 all the gear you'll find is useless
World quest rewards are based off renown not ilvl in this xpac

My friends and I used our lvl 50 boosts so we have that level 60 item level gear it gives you. How do we get better gear than that at that item level? Is dungeons reliable to just farm out gear pieces at a low item level?
Just quest through the campaigns of Shadowlands, u get better gear as u level up. If I understand you right:)

Thats actually something that people should APPRECIATE. I mean you had the best gear in the game last "adventure" it shouldn't be so quick to be replaced from a random ass quest (except this expansion because going from earth, to heaven/hell... well you would expect your first piece of gear to be 100 ilvls higher
Hi wonderfull folks , im casual player and it looks like bastion is full of xp, i just complete zone bastion and im supoust to be at level 53 ready for maldraxxus, but Im already 55, and half of the way to 56, is this normal? i took a chance on a mythic pug today i dont normally as i just hit 60 today i was item level about 145 and i tanked it alrright we had a few death and i was getting carop tunnel from spamming ignore pain but we finished ....a couple deaths but i went back to normal its far easier and to gea rup better now im stuck at 152 and cant get anything to improve maybe ill try those quests but even those i think wont get me to 155

Got to level 60 on my alt today done lol I got a covid vacation due to working near a co~worker. And I grinder the hell out this game it was fun got 2 more days till I head back to work and then I’ll farm heroics every so often lol :D till raiding opens and farm mythics
the item level is not fixed, if you hit 60 then go quest , those item will be 150 at most
How to gear up: wait next week cuz item level is gonna inflate when all major content will be available, so there's absolutely no rush to gear fast right now, you might even lose your time of life doing so. Same thing happened in bfa.
What would be worth your time is to simply do dungeons to learn their layout, be prepared for next week and get easy gear. Any other investment seems useless

you can't do them in the dungeon finder, you need a premade group of 5 or a guild.
im sorry, i know this was posted a year ago, but... renown even back then was so ridiculously easy to level. I myself was able to get 1-40 renown in 3 days.
i literally spent a good 8 hrs today girinding dungeons or more and im only level 152 and this guy is 174 on one toon and hes 60 on more than 1...how long was he playing? i no lifed it but this guy.......

Also, if you have a group of friends and play in an organized manner; you can vastly increase your dungeon gearing up process by trading unneeded gear pieces to people who need them.
you just freehold boost it, have 5 level 60's just party scale levels and it takes around 3-4 hours per char to 60
I wish mythics were on the group finder, getting a group together for them has always felt like a pain
It is though. You you go to dungeons and raids, then premade groups, click on dungeons and join whichever group suits you
@@cullenshadow1007 I meant the lfg thing same as normals and heroics. Cause it's often not that easy, almost all groups either just need a tank or healer (I'm a dps) or have some ridiculous gear (a gear level higher than what the dungeon even drops is a good one) or other requirement.
@mitebg base mythics not mythic+ there isn't really a reason normal mythics shouldn't be lfg pluggable they're only slightly harder than heroics
@mitebg Not bad reasons, just wish it was an option, maybe they could introduce HC+ similar difficulty and gear as base mythic, but no key and on the lfg. Keeping mythic separate. I dunno, I just find getting into premade groups or getting people to join my groups a pain that's not worth it.

This expansion I have 1 goal... just enjoy the experience. I'm tired of racing to max level and blowing thru the quests and quest text.
Enjoy the experience indeed. Streamers, most of them tho not all, are sending the wrong message to the community. A very small percentage of players have the luxury of living off of playing pc games, having passive incomes or simply not having any responsibilities so you can play all day long. Therefore, transmitting the feeling of rush, "I mist get my ilvl quicker than others", I must be the first farming that dungeon, I must get the maximum points of that asap... Is simply breaking the game experiences for the majority of players. Hey, we're all free to play for hours and intensively if we like the game and have the spare time. Just don't cast false expectations on others or be demanding telling them how they should play. And to the OV, thanks for the video it has sone great insights for new level 60s.
I wish they wouldn't lock the pvp weekly vault to rated bgs only. So casual pvpers are left out in the cold yet again

@mitebg In all of his guides to Shadowlands he never talked about mythic 0 being available, I personally didn't know that and would've started them way earlier.

Step 1: Level to 60
Step 2: For about 10k you can buy item level 168 gear with your best in slot secondaries
Step 3: Grind Dungeons
Bonus step: research which is best in slot legendary to get and hunt it down, then craft that legendary.
All the additional info he gave was useless in the short term but could be useful later. It's a good idea to do your renown levels, but slow, it's a good idea to do PvP but its slow.
