That screamer was their founder, lead guitarist and main composer, he couldn't play the guitar for a long time because of his hand injury, so in some songs he only played part of the guitar, but luckily He has recovered a lot now
Shiren used to play guitar before he get to vocals but due to his arm disease he can't play that much anymore but since he's also main composer he likes to make himself some space for growl vocals in newer tracks
The song is based on Final Fantasy 8, with the words Time compressing, Lion's heart, Squall, GF ruining memories, witch, etc they also use final boss quotes. Shiren is a big FF8 fan and Fuki dress's like Edea. It was also released on the same day FF8 released. Hence the way they are dressed, and the sounding of the song. To be fair you've not really touched any of their popular songs, then again they haven't really released video's for the songs that are popular, the songs you want to hear them play live. Also live, like a lot of Japanese bands, they are much better. Another thing with Unlucky Morpheus they stick to a Japanese sound, stuctures and feels that Japanese people reconise. To be fair they are not really interested in the western market, if it comes then great, but they are not going to change to get there. Infact they are surprised by the number of overseas fans they have. Are they the best band in Japan, well that is really sujective, but I'd say they are likely the most tallented. They also do not really have a fixed style, they started in 2008 and the 1st metal album they did was in 2014, before that it was Touhou arrangement albums with a metal edge, such as "Unknown Child". As others have said Shiren is the lead guitarist and co-founder of the band who suffers with Tenosynovitis, for a while he did know what he was going to do, maybe have to quit. He started to play a headless guitar on a stand and also sat down while playing live, so he was not putting weight on his affected arm. He has slowly got better over time, but not completely, he still uses the stand from time to time and he did cut down on the amount he plays in a song. there are a couple of songs he stopped plating in, and Jill on violin took over his parts, inc solo's. One such song, which is also popular is "Angreifer" th-cam.com/video/gGKWgM4IOgc/w-d-xo.html Jill is just a beast on the violin (words you do not normaly expect to hear, when talking about a metal band), but she can do almost anything on a violin that some people can do on a guitar. This song is based on Final Fantasy VIII. Edit* Shiren the harsh vocalist he has Tenosynovitis of the arm so he can't play guitar for prolonged periods. That is why they brought in Jill, the violin player on songs where Shiren can't play the guitar live she plays his part on violin.
Jill was part of the band before Shiren found out about his arm/wrist (Japanese don't have part names for the arm, it's a all in one), by about a year.
Probably my favorite of Japanese metal bands. They have a certain gothic feel that's generally missing in their contemporaries. This one certainly has an unusual amount of harsh vocals. Of course what's always appealed most to me is the use of the violin as a lead instrument. The lead guitarist was injured and unable to play for awhile, they brought in the violinist to cover his guitar solos(which she does very well) I do agree they need to develop their songwriting to equal their musical skills but based on what I've heard they're making progress and distinguishing themselves from their competition. Great reaction!
As has been said it's about the main concept of Final Fantasy VIII and Edea's idea of time-compression, so I find the video quite fitting, although FF8 is a bit on the weird side, story-wise. Obviously things like that only work if you're familiar with the source. That said, Fuki's a kick-ass Edea :) Not gonna say too much more, other people are more knowledgeble, but seriously I can listen to their Vampir EP all day. I do enjoy Ankimo a lot, but if i'm completely honest I liked Fuki better in Light Bringer (just a tad...).
I have a sad story about FF8. I usually nevber played turn based RPG's but my older brother convinced and i went for it on PS1 back in the day. 40 hours into it my brother erased my save file lol
Está claro que no son una banda para ti y siempre te van a parecer mediocres. A mí me parecen geniales aunque no hayan inventado la rueda, son más que suficiente. Gracias por la reacción y por tu honestidad
Honnestly as far as their current stuff, and unlike many recommand you see below, I would say go fo their latest "M" Anthem MV. It's not a live performance, but yet it showcase the whole talent all over the place, from their own music talent to the visual super production and sound studio work. Unlucky morpheous productions is a whole, not a single act. It's definitely not my preferate Japanese metal band currently (ok they are second or third 🥰 so I'm a bit biaised), but I can recognise the overall talent they have. I can't really think of western current NEWER bands that is able to have high talents all over the instruments as much as they do. Many of the bands you name (when I know them) are older bands (I'm a 110% fan of Iron Maiden) so I sort of know the feeling you have, but yet, you have to put a perspective on your view on the music. First, there are bands that shapes your teenage and early adult life, and IF one of those bands is an ICONIC band (like Iron Maiden) it will always be hard to challenge it, as you are totally biaised due to your own memories. I have seen Iron maiden live 6 or 7 times and even while beeing a big fan, I can tell you I have seen only 2 almost perfect live from them, and 2 absolute trash lives due to technical sound problems (so mostly not the band's fault but yet you have paied to see them) Then you have aged... and as time passes by, you have listened to a LOT of music, so hearing something fresh is getting harder and harder, specially even more if you listen to a lot of various musics. Nowadays (50 y.o grumpy man), I'm simply happy and enjoys the fact I can discover, listen and have fun listening to bands that at least delivers TRUE music, with enough complexity it's entertaining discovering what they do, and yet not "elitist" enough that the only focus is techicalities above musicality, making music a cerebral work to apperciate (like Jazz is in my ears). And to me, Unlucky Morpheous is right on that edge. Technically sound, with a lot of greatness in technicality, while beeing a very fun and somewhat "easy" to listen band. My only downside to them, while Fumiya (the drummer) is great, I definitely feel he's way too often on his comfort zone at a high BPM, and I would love more drum's variations (like in Iron Maiden), and some songs with a slower BPM and far less druming. Best band ever ? nope, Best band in Japan Metal scene ? right on the top 2-5 to me. (my very #1 is NEMOPHILA) Is currently the Japan metal scene the metal I listen the most ? 100% as they are creating and pumping out amazing content at a high rate with AMAZING female singers (which I prefer the voices over the bold, fatty & beardy western screamers), with a load of lesser known bands that all deserves some serious respect for their musical talent. NEXT [ Too long to read part about Japanese metal scen in general ] you can skip that and yet, you may find some gems in there. Also what I like with Japan metal scene, it's still a"niche" scene, and you have to dig to discover bands you like. It's not offered to you on a silver plate, and while I can enjoy the Big "mainstream" western metal bands, I have more fun discovering niche Japanese bands / songs / EP's.Totally not in a ranked order NEMOPHILA, Wagakki Band, Bridear, Trident, NECRONOMIDOL, Mada Mitakoto No Nai Sekai, FateGear, Gacharic Spin, Hanabie, etc Oh, and see what I did there ? No Band Maid, no LoveBites, no Mary's Blood, etc that also makes the most of react videos from Japan metal scene. I'm simply not into those bands that are probably as equally great. That's now what... More than 10 Japanese "recent" to "very new" metal bands that are worth listening to. That just shows how that scene is active, and most of those bands would never ever make more than a 1000 peeps venue in the west. And yet they are all great bands worth discovering and listening to. By the way, an other note here... Ever wonder the age of those band members ? how young they may be ? How many 20-30y.o band members do we speak of that are as talented as those ? We usually compare those "young adults" to the bands we have seen on stage for us in western countries that are now nearely 50 y.o or more. Is that fair ? Go check NEMOPHILA, and give me ONE SINGLE BAND in western music scene that had that much talent from drummer to 2 gutarists to bass player to singer and were between 20 to 30y.o when we began to notice them. And by that I mean ALL members (4 or 5), not one band member carrying them all, like Sting carried Police, or Kurt Cobain carring Nirvana, Flea carring Red Hot (that's exagerated but you see the point) etc. We talk what, Beattles, U2, Iron Maiden ? Probably some other iconic band for sure ? Point me to one single western band this young I should go check for their music and I'll run do that. Let's get real, Japan has an incredible pool of great musicians and it shows if you dare to dig. Even their more "mainstream" rock/hard/metal rock scene with high money production can pump out some great fun stuff to listen to (Raise a Suilen, Roselia, just existing through a Mobile game and then an anime 3 seasons long), BabyMetal for their live perfomances. And then you can dive into the "older" stuff Japan has produced and yet still not truely listened over western borders, Like Aldious, PassCode, Scandal, X Japan, Maximum the Hormone etc. One example with some insane metal / electro mix like the EPSILON album from Blood Stain Child. Probably none of that Japanese metal scene will never ever top the Ultimate game changer bands western has seen over the past (from any of the metal hardrock monsters) to the Doors or the Beattles, even Sting, U2, etc. There are Iconic bands for sure and while we may not like this or that one, we can all agree they are iconic from their past, but yet I can say I mostly never listen to them. I know their songs, I enjoy them when I hear them, but I'm not actively listening to them. Yet most Japan metal scene worth listening 10x more than any of the shit any "Justin" can ever produce, or any of the R'NB shit that's mainstream actually. Finally, when you say you have "heard" that kind of things before, yeah Japan music has it's own vibe, but just as much as you can mostly say "oh this is a northern european metal band", "this is an english punk/rock band", "this is an american metal band". Many have their own local habbits tied to the music they usually write and play. How many of those northern metal bands are so often sounding the same ? (yet I like to listen to some of them ofc) Music is mostly a feeling thing and we all have various taste. We can not (and that's fortunate we still aren't) like all the same music and bands If we were, we woudn't be on your channel but on TikTok instead, listening to some stupid 50 seconds sounds many nowadays call music. And yet we are all very partial to some bands we love, because we are all somewhere emotionally linked to a specific band or song that is very special to you, should it be a band with 200 followers or +2 millions followers. If any of you dared to read it all, thanks for the effort, keep sharing the words of great music & stay safe out there

Happy birthday to my queen, FUKI. Her and Shiren the guitarist really are the backbones of Unlucky Morpheus.

Yes, it's Fuyuki Tenge's birthday today! 🎂🎉🎌 Go Live next like 'Angreifer' MV by them🤘
I will recommend reacting to more Japanese bands, Dir en Grey, Galneryus, Versailles, Seikimaii, Maximum the Hormone...
Maximum the hormone are amazing!
tower of the blood(the more recent live version with Jill) and cadaver/revadac have better song writing.
