    Spent the last 20 plus years driving my 1967 VW Deluxe 13 window bus and the move to a loaded 2012 Kia Soul 5 months ago was something else for me..Yes it has soul just a way updated one.....Great car really like it...

      glad you're enjoying it! Seems a big move from the VW, but I do see the similarities.

      Both really good cars. Have you driven both? Mazda 3 review: th-cam.com/video/6N2dOidkHtg/w-d-xo.html

      DFWs Cars only the golf I haven't driven the soul or Mazda yet. atleast not the current generation Mazda. But the kia' s chassis concerns me and some the packaging I've seen online

    • @DFWsCars
      @DFWsCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      HX Re ya I would take a Mazda over a Kia based on what you're looking at. That said the new Elantra Sport seems pretty impressive, but nothing is going to feel like the Mazda or VW

    • @h3e44
      @h3e44 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      DFWs Cars that's what I'm starting to gather and the driving feel is very important the android auto in the golf is an edge though

      If you're looking for a hatch with this engine in it and are open to buying used....you can grab a Forte5 sx for under 17k fully loaded.....the tune is a bit rich on these so YMMV but it is a great car. I was between this and a M3 and decided on this....it was close though, and some days I wish I'd chosen the Mazda (more economical), but that turbo power was a first for me and addicting...

      Yes, I was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Not the type of car I am in the market for, and there were areas of improvement as I pointed out, but overall it was more enjoyable than I thought.

    Lol we live in a time where a 12 inch front set of rotors is considered " small " yet the kia soul instelf has suprising acceleration for how " big" it is.. its more of a small suv yes but the car is definitely not big and the weight is very respectable for the size.. also the 1.6T used in the soul is 201hp and 195ft whereas in the sister company using the same powerplant the hp is 175hp and i believe 175ft the torque may not be exactly correct but its around there. I cannot currently search the torque for the others at the moment. This is a substantial increase in both torque and hp over the other members of kias immediate family and is kind of interestingly hidden if not directly looked for comparisons... the transmission is a major plus for sporty fast driving as well because not a single alternative transmission has the ability to shift faster than a dual clutch even the very quick ( when designed properly which is rare) CVT transmission. The dry clutch system kia uses makes the drive early on very clunky if not outright AGGRAVATING! It was the pretty much single biggest complaint that I was able to locate.. the jerkiness and clunking has for the most part subsided and actually shifts smoother and quiter ( yeah quiter) the dual clutch at early miles had a very distinct and almost alarming noise ( not too alarming though the amazing 10yr 100k mile warranty generally gives an aire of confidence) unfortunately I cannot really even describe the noise perse without being disturbing to some that are not familiar with EVER VEHICLES "BREAK IN PERIOD" No matter the make model or design EVERY SINGLE NEW VEHICLE HAS A PERIOD OF TIME that it will undoubtedly get a lesser MPG number and have odd noises in this case the dual clutch ( dry type) was uncomfortable and jerky. To give an idea of the " feeling" anyone whom had either ridden or taught someone how to drive a manual transmission vehicle knows the unavoidable and unsettling jerking and back and forth crazyness that accompanies improper clutch manipulation and alignment of proper gears for the desired speed and acceleration. Back to the new car " break in" also common are odd odors that sometimes can even overcome the AMAZING AND UNDENIABLE HEAVENLY SCENT OF A NEW CAR!!! Up to and including most commonly random smells of " burning" plastic or often rubber smells that are a common new car owner complaint or simply a very understandable FEAR OF DAMAGE TO THE NEW CAR OR WORSE SOME KIND OF POSSIBLY LIFE THREATENING DEFECT THAT CAN AND WILL HAPPEN AGAIN NO MATTER WHAT COMPANY THE WEAK LINK BEING A LITTLE SOMETHING KNOWN AS " HUMAN ERROR" FYI I HAVE WORKED IN 2 REPUTABLE AND LONG STANDING " STEALERSHIPS" OH I MEANT DEALERSHIPS AND WAS THE LEAD FOR THE MAINTENANCE DEPARTMENT. DAMNIT I WROTE A DAMNED BOOK... ANYONE THAT HAS READ THIS FAR I APOLOGIZE WHEN SOMETHING I HAVE PASSION ABOUT ( ANYTHING VEHICLE RELATED) PEAKS MY INTRIGUE I USE TALK TO TEXT WHIXH IS THE DEVIL BECAUSE THE HORRIFIC GRAMMAR MISTAKES AND THE INCREDIBLE EASE OF WRITING A DOCUMENTARY ON THE TAX CODE FROM INCEPTION TO TODAY WHEN I BEGAN WRITING A SIMPLE SENTENCE RELATED TO THE SUBJECT MATTER... KIA HAS SERVED MYSELF AND MY FAMILY WELL OVER THE YRS SND DURING THAT TIME I WAS MOCKED AND LAUGHED UPON FOR MY THEN NEW 2005 KIA SPECTRA 5 AND THATS THE YR IMO KIA REINVEMTED THEMSELVES!!! THE SPECTRA AND THE SEXY SPEC5 WERE CO-DESIGNED BY A GROUP OF LAMBORGHINI DESIGNERS AND IT SHOWS IN THE GORGEOUS UNIQUE LINES THE CAR POSSESSES.. IN KOREA THE SPECTRA IS THE CERATO AND HAVE VERSIONS REACHING OVER 300HP OUT OF A 2.0 TURBO!!! AND THE BOTTOM HALF HAS THE ABILITY TO SAFELY SECURE AROUND 400HP WITH FACTORY STOCK INTERNALS! AFTER RETURNING FROM IRAQ I SPENT MONEY ON THE ENGINE AND SUSPENSION AND SHE TO THIS DAY RUNS ABOUT 320HP AND HAS ZERO LABELS OR BADGES TO GIVE HER AWAY!! point being this suv has been along time coming and the trans can and does smooth out greatly at around 10k miles. With minor effort and money this kia easily reaches over 350hp but rememebr wait until the warranty expires to mod except plug in tuners because the point of having this car is amazing price point respectful MPG and the still unbeatable 10yr 100mile warranties! ( for the nimrods who are stuck in the late 90s) why would a garbage auto maker have a warranty that kicks the competition in the gonads? Exactly hope someone takes time to read this novel masquerading as a youtube comment REPLY not even a damn OP... and between the talk to text horrifying grammatical issues and my passion filled brain damaged ( yes from deployment to Iraq permanently brain damaged) having a undeniable habit of getting sidetracked on various points of contention and sometimes returning to make the point snd other times... not... my oratorical abilities exceed my deranged writings.. thanks for reading if not able to finish congrats your life is healthy and you have something much more important lol

      Very in depth reply with some good info. Can def tell you’re a Kia fan. The Soul was a weird one for me because I didn’t really know whether to review it as a car or SUV, because it’s kind of both.

      Auto Autopsy you may not from all- ironically high end dealerships have been more responsive (but not ultra high end lol). I can send you my form letter latter. Did you find the new cars sales manager to email too?

    thx for the review, but it seemed like a lot of incomplete thoughts stitched together one after the other...I am considering the Soul+ w/designer pkg to replace our 13yo pathfinder as it hits a price/feature point few other cars can match (and the wife isn't opposed to it)...I tried hondas in this range and was let down (cvt)...the soul reminds me of my 04 GTI in almost every dimension - wheelbase, weight, brakes, suspension, and volume...as long as you see it as a $22k car, it meets its expectations just fine, IMO

    • @DFWsCars
      @DFWsCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ya we had a lot more content than could fit in there, so tried to get as much as possible. Since this is near the end of the life cycle of the Soul with this suspension, etc- you can probably get a good deal. The one I had was fully specced out to the mid-high 20s- but discounts exist.

      I have the Hyundai Ioniq ev and love it. Guess a lot is the same since Kia and Hyundai are coorparating.
      Surprised how much better an ev is compared to ice.
      Will never switch back to ice unless Im not forced to do so.

    • @DFWsCars

      ya pure electric limits your range, but a plug in Hybrid is the future at least for now until fast charge takes like 10 minutes or so.

    • @pigedehekkan
      @pigedehekkan 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      for my use and 90% of everybody else, the range is good enough.
      sure, if you drive more than 150 miles in one go and dont want to stop for a brake, i guess a hybrid is a good option.

    Do not cut the clips without pause in the audio. Very irritating to listen as you cut multiple sentences into one audio flow...
    Otherwise, nice clip :), I am having my Turbo delivered in April!

    • @DFWsCars
      @DFWsCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks, that's helpful feedback. And congrats on your order! Did you mean cutting with a pause? I'd always thought that sounded more abrupt, so wanted to clarify. Eventually will do voiceover as most people do, saves time.

    • @Doupik
      @Doupik 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      You crossfade both video and audio - ok for video, but not for audio, as the words from the next video actually overdubs the end of previous audio, e.g. 3:14, 3:30, 3:40

    • @DFWsCars
      @DFWsCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Doupik totally see what you're talking about, and that is a weird echo- appreciate it good sir!

    • @Doupik

      Btw, in Europe, we also have "Eco" mode of the transmission, upshifts sooner to help MPG. Still, the consumption is pretty high, considering the rival's numbers.
