I'm a Chicago Bears fan but I gotta tell ya.....this brought tears to my eyes. I became a "Football" fan in the 70's when "The Steel Curtain" was the best show in town. I tip my hat to these "Pittsburgh Steelers." Thanks for the memories!!!

The other aspect that made this team so special was the era they did it in. The 70's in Pittsburgh were rough and saw the Steel industry die. The Steelers became a source of pride to a town that was falling apart. That's why the huge bond with the fans to this day.

May all those feeling the pain of Franco's passing find comfort ......

I'm a Cleveland Browns fan, but the Steelers of the 70's were the greatest team I have ever seen. I can still name all of the starters. This probably makes no sense, but Jack Lambert is my all time favorite player. He said that he was a Browns fan growing up in Mantua Ohio. Watching the Browns in training camp at Hiram. He said that when the Browns didn't draft him in 1974, he would always take it out on them. He stood by his words.

Born and raised a fan, and I can truly say it has been an honor. I was lucky enough to be a young boy during the 70's, and the Steelers' ride has been the best ride I've ever been on.
The amazing thing is how this team is always the same. It was then, and it is now - solid, tough defense with a straight-up running game and high-flying passing.
You could almost interchange the players, the generations - and the Steelers are simply Old School -- simply the best !

I'll never forget when I was a kid--walking through North Hills Village (back in the early 80's)... I wasn't much older than 7 years old. My mother and I strolled up to the GNC store, and out in front was this HUGE hulk of a guy. I really didn't know much of the older Steelers, so he wasn't anyone that I recognized. This guy spoke out at me and invited me into the store. Took me towards the back and sat me on one of his knees and just chatted w/ me for a few minutes. He then signed a picture card and I was on my way... Life went on and I moved to Ohio and forgot much of the occasion; other than the man was a former Steeler. I later found that picture card and it was a signed picture of IRON MIKE WEBSTER!! Wow!!

Not just great football players. God knows there are many of them but these guys were all around good men in general. Good team mates. Great contributors to society even after football and NEVER forgot where they came from. Men playing a boys game that didn't treat it as a job but just as a game. That is why they were as good as they were. Other teams also. Cowboys, Raiders, Dolphins, Redskins 49ers......sense the trend? Real men played during those times. That is why they were all great. Chuck Noll hit the nail on the head. Team work. This team saved this city during that time and that bond will never be broken

Couldn't stand the Steelers and still can't but those were some of the greatest teams to every step on a football field. Art Rooms deserved every bit of success he had with that team.

Remember how Hollywood Henderson insulted Terry Bradshaw, and later waved at Franco Harris on a draw play for a touchdown.

A lot of times people get caught up in the moment, and look at things with rose colored glasses especially things from long ago, But when you look at the 70s Steelers one thing comes to mind. Perfection. The Standard is the Standard. Could you imagine putting the team from 76 against any team today? There would be no competition.

Awesome video! Those Steelers teams had so much character. Each player seemed to have a persona all their own. Coach Knoll knew what he had.

One of the things that shows how good these 70s Steelers teams were is the competition. Oakland, Dallas, Houston, Miami were all good teams, especially Oakland. Ravens v Steelers has been great, but the Raiders v Steelers was in another dimension. Those were some wild violent games.

The Steelers of the 70s may have been the greatest team ever assembled. By my count, there were 5 hall of famers on the offensive side of the ball and 4 on the defensive side. Not to mention a hall of fame head coach. And think about the other great players not in the hall such as LC Greenwood, Donnie Shell, and Rocky Bleier. What a team!
