As for the gaps on the side of the rear window, it's because of the white trim that is preventing the glass from seating further back. I just bought a used cap that has a rubber over hang attached where your white plastic trim is. And my window is able to recess further into the cap. However, I still think yours looks better than what I have.
Thanks for sharing, I guess I won't get a Leer. I wonder what happened to the A.R.E. Concept with the spoiler? I had a 1998 Sungtop with my S10 and it was built well and fit great, it lasted 18 years until I sold the truck. Now I'm having trouble finding another of ANY brand that has excellent quality, they ALL seem so cheaply built anymore. Like yours the door gap is unacceptable, the rivets are loose, the fiberglass edge that hangs over the bed isn't finished and from what I see on Leer it's the same poor construction too, and I thought they were part of Sungtop.
Thank for sharing. I'd not be happy with any of those trim/fit issues. I'd get RSI or RLD if they fit my truck. Not the suv look and more utilitarian, but I care more about quality, function, and durability. Might just get a nice tonneau cover and call it a day. :)
I couldn’t tell from the video but are you able to take out the front window of the cap in order to open the truck’s back glass window to allow airflow? Asking because I will want my dog to ride in the shell.
What’s the exact gap measurement on each side of the door? Also: did you had to readjust the door because of hinges? My dealer says it can be an issue.... Thanks!
It’s been a problem since I got it. The dealer who installed it was an auto body shop. You would think they know what they are doing. The gate hinges probably could be slightly moved higher which would make the gaps smaller but not enough
$2900 in Summer of 2019. That included installation and wiring. The back hatch has been a problem due to freezing, alignment, fit, and the weatherstripping adhesive has failed. Not impressed considering how expensive they are
@@huntergibson1282 it gets wet if I go thru a car wash or if I park on an incline with the tailgate on the high side but just at the back corners. It’s not bad

Ouch made my decision very easy. Thanks for the review

i just saw a diff review on ARE and i said im gonna pass on that, now I'm watching this. Bro I appreciate it, im gonna go with smart cap
Nice ! I just ordered the same topper for my 2019 f150, also have the bed rug so looking forward ti getting it.
I’ve enjoyed having it but just wish the quality control around that lift gate was better
Interested if after 4 years from this video they made better job?
Thanks for the video, I'm looking for one and Leer looses points on this one.
That gap looks awful. Thanks for this review, very helpful. I'll pass on Leer.
No Leer for me after seeing this...thanks for the video
Just ordered mine wished I had seen this first
Looks great. Nice choice.
I like mine but the latch in the back sucks in the winter. It'll completely freeze up and you then lose access to your shell.

Thanks yea now I know why leer was about 1700 cheaper than the are I was looking at. Did you ever get that warranty done?
I never pursued it

Front window can be completely removed or just the center piece can slide open
what kind of clamps did you use to hold your camper down? just got my Leer 100xq sport and never got clamps with the camper

I "thought" I liked Leer . . . but, maybe not after seeing this. Or maybe just not Sport?
How much was the cap and how much was it to have it installed? Is it waterproof and do you have any issues?

Do you get dust inside the cap when driving on dirt roads ?
No not really. You could buy a tailgate seal if you do a lot of dirt roads. The carpet bed rug probably helps though
Looks good from a distance. Quality not there I guess
Waterproof?
How much was the shell? How much to install?
Approximately $2900 including installation and wiring. I had the Lear Locker overhead storage quoted for another $857 but didn’t end up getting it

$2900 in summer of 2019. They have cheaper ones but this is supposed to be a premium sporty one
how much was it?
$2900 pre-Pandemic

Pretty bad quality for Leer a supposedly top company in this field. I was thinking about this model but Not likely now.

Our ARE’s at work at garbage
Garbage workmanship for what you pay. Not even a sequence or fallowed screw pattern I noticed. WTH 😭 lost of money for crappy workmanship. No pride.
they done a horrible job, get a full refund
BAD, QC.???? LEER.????
Sucks should be done right and reimbursed you
That’s why you don’t buy Lear you go to a are
