  • Let's take Maschine Mikro MK 3 from Native Instruments for a spin and make a quick little sample based beat on it!
I hope this will give you some sense of what it actually is to use it when making sampled beats. I have a quite strange way of chopping my samples but it works great for me with the Mikro MK3!
A nice and simple beat, some scratching and some good times :)
    BOOM!
Hit me up with questions below. I appreciate the crap out of every last one of you!

I was considering getting a MK3 for myself.
    I'm not considering it anymore.
    I'm sold. Take my money.
In all seriousness, I love the looks, the way it plays and how it operates and the beat you made with this in a short amount of time is just incredible. The usage of slicing the sample and how you structured the overall beat was just genius. Personally, some minor vinyl crackle or distortion on the chopped sample and some Foley noise in the background would of really given it a lo-fi feel. A filter on the drums during the beats' intro would of been really lovely too, especially if you put in an 808 or backing pad that kicked in just as the filter came off the drums. Absolutely amazing, you've sold me on this thing. Incredible content, immediately subscribed.

Way cool demo Accurate! Inspiring. You got sick skills operating with sampling on full Maschine. It is great to see and get a feel of doing this on Mikro /with mouse and monitor instead. Makes it more approachable for Maschine flow newbie, very drooling to try (burned my computer at the moment). I mean not vinyl samples like you do, but in my case I like to connect guitar playing some licks or hardware synth with unique sound and play with it more creative. Never got right environment designed for that trully. Trying to make it in large linear DAW usually goes tedious and feels awkward. In smaller grid approach apps, it might not be as handy to chop a piece and (by-design or the tool) have it tuned to the pads right away. Sound like new horizons for the flow! TNX!

    • @AccurateBeats
      @AccurateBeats  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

It sounds like you could develop a great little workflow with Maschine and that kind on raw material! I think the Maschine Mikro MK3 could be great for that stuff but the full size Maschine is definitely a better device overall.
Thanks for watching and commenting man, I appreciate that!

    • @samprock

I’ve been watching yr live session, took me couple nights to enjoy. Like reversing guitar is one of my fav lil tricks too. Watching how it’s done with ease..... don’t get me wrong, I still trying to convince myself that Mikro will do (and it’s shape is the only phisical space I have in two setups), but more I get into playing it realizing how full MK3 is the Komplete (no pun intended) living organism :) today spend an evening with it again. Had to take Moog (subsequent 37 cv) off the table, but MK3 just sings and responds. Intaking more skills and watch less monitor or reach to mouse, but only can imagine how much more fun it can be at kraft level. Puzzled and can’t decide. Maybe just need both Mikro and Mk3? lol, and a bigger table ... and quit job :)

I've been more creative with the limitations of the iMaschine app vs. other beatmaking apps including Beatmaker3(powerful but very involved) this looks like the perfect move for extending the feel of the iMaschine app. Thanks AB!

If you're trying to figure out whether to use the extra money saved from buying the Mikro towards an interface, keep in mind that the MK3 does have its own interface built in as well. From what I saw in this video, I'd say that a sample-based producer would probably have a much easier time with the MK3.

Thank you for reviewing this micro maschine.. good price but like you said not like his big brother and now i understand how good and easy the Maschine is to work with and edit, chop and modulate samples almost direct, like on the spot with the 2 screens..
This mini version of it works also realy well but it's like taking much more time and is not that straight forward to use.
The price of the 2 maschines is now most important in my opinion. Do you want to spend like 2.5X the price for the normal device and create tracks/beats faster or am i happy with this mini version at the lower price and struggle more at a beginners standpoint. 🤔 .. Also in my head is the novation keyboard/ pad that comes with ableton 11 software for free .. but then again i might have to buy a laptop for the music extra ..

right, they were making this sound for Detroit and New York AND Japan before they had easier software. just tapes, old school turntables with vinyl. still I respect anyone that get to this level of sound engineering. if you look at groups like the roots, they turned this sound into an actual band long before the jimmy fallon show

Great tutorial but how do you match the tempo of the session and the sample? Thanks!

I’m curious why you choose to work across so many different platforms? Native instruments, Akai, OP-1 and although I don’t recall seeing one but it is a safe bet there’s a DAW involved as well for mixing down and recording scratch’s, vocals and live instruments?
I ask because I loath learning new software the keyboard short cuts get jumbled in my head and I feel like I could be making music instead of learning another user interface.
What are the significant difference between the Akai and the Native instruments that make them unique enough that you continue working with both? Is it that their work flows are inspiring in different ways, or can you hear a discernible difference in the audio quality between the two? One is better for drums while the other for is better for pads and instruments? Do you prefer the filters on one over the other but find the sequencer is more intuitive on the other?
I recognize that the OP-1 isn’t just a sampler but more of an environment plus the sampler has its own unique sound it has it limitations while having a unique sound specifically when samples are pitched down. I’ve worked on sp1200, s950’s, mpc 3000, and Roland’s s760. Each has its own sound characteristics that the others lack (primarily because they allow for individual samples to have variable bit and sample rates unlike today’s samplers and DAWs as far as I know)
Sorry for the wordy message I hope it makes some sense :) cheers

      Hey! Great questions.
Well.. There are many parts to this. For starters I do run a TH-cam channel about these kind of things. Sometimes I get equipment sent to me and sometimes I just buy new stuff because I like to try them out for a while, show them om YT and then resell them.
Another part of it is that Im just a geek who's really interested in gear and tech in general and third I get a lot of inspiration from trying new techniques, products and workflows.
If I'm under pressure and I need to produce music quickly I always go to Maschine MK3 and nothing else. That's just because I know the workflow of Maschine as the back of my hand.
When it comes to audio quality you're exactly right about the OP1 and the unique sound of it. Besides that the MPC and Maschine sounds pretty much alike. The MPC has something going on that makes drums feel more punchy but thats not reason to keep it.
I just enjoy having options to choose from and the difference in workflow triggers different parts of my creativity.
      Thanks for asking!

Thank you for the video! Just bought this today and I'm loving it so far but I'm obviously new to it.
How do you set the sounds for each button to cut each other off as you press each one? Is there a setting for that? I see you have it set up that way already in this video if I'm not mistaken.

So this is perfect and exactly what I’m looking for, to create jazz percussive improve jams, my only hesitation is that I can get a second hand maschine for say £100 more second hand than the micro mk3. Is the micro capable enough for fast mash ups of loops in improv setting with say a couple of other bits of hardware, bass synth etc. or is it worth investing more for the full maschine, pretty dam easy to get one second hand. I’m lost in the weeds abit coming from studying classical and being locking in a DAW, I’m trying to brake out and build a little tabletop hardware setup. Semi modular. I could take midi out of the laptop with the micro and have that sync and trigger other hardware modules.. anyone any thoughts?

    Maschine skill 10/10; cuts 5/10.
But! I’m sooo envious of your tech skills. Mad skills. Help…

Hey, do you recommend getting a pad controller and a keyboard? Or should I get a midi keyboard that has pads on it?

Hi! Would the Maschine mk3 be a good option to add drums to a dj set? I'm running traktor and would like to add some drums... Any suggestions? :)
