I listened all the way to the end and as a wife that has recently become more detailed with budgeting this video was VERY helpful and given us new easier ways of doing things to be honest. We are much more aware where things are going and where we are spending our money and I love it, so thank you so very very much!!!
I can't thank you enough for these videos. You are so generous to make them, and I am sharing them happily with my husband, children and friends. My son is still in grad school and was lamenting that he had no clue where to begin creating a budget. I was shopping for books, but your advice is so much better and more palatable to beginners and experienced budgeters alike.
Made it to the end & LOVE IT! Getting married put my hubby & I into budget mode, 6 years later, all debt paid off & we sometimes go back to our natural tendencies of not paying attention. Your videos are jump starting us back into consistent budgeting. Thank you, Both!
This was a great video. My husband and I have been married for 13 years and have never applied a 'budget'. We know what we make vs. what we spend and know where we are financially, however, after hearing Michael explain your family's way of budgeting has convinced me that I need to do this ASAP. Thank you Michael and Marnie for this series. I look forward to more!
Just purchased my first property, this video was super helpful.. you never think about your budget till you actually lay it all out. Love your bucket method. Thank you for the valuable information!
I made it all the way to the end. I love these videos, my husband and I are literally at the same point in our marriage that you two were in, he is a service member and I currently run a military child care facility out of my home (cdh). We have been married for nearly 5 years and are starting to become vastly more serious when it comes to our incomes budgets and expenses. We are always looking for simple yet effective accounting tools for our family. I believe the envelope system is the next target for us. I really appreciate these videos and Michael's advice and your honest perspective on it because I think I can say I am struggling with coming to grips with having to be much more strict than I currently am to meet the goals my husband and I have for our future. So thank you so much and as you can see I really love these videos so please keep them coming!!!
Right now I'm struggling a little bit to balance all of my bills and I was really happy when I found this series in your feed. I made it all the way through and really appreciate the information! Your husband is pretty great, he's so patient and calm.
I love watching your videos and greatly appreciate you guys for taking the time to share with us. I essentially do this already setting up different accounts for savings vacation and extra money to shop but I think it was a great idea at least for me to set money aside as you mentioned in an envelop to physically see the money. Thank you and can't wait for more videos!
Great series! I made it to the end. People think a budget limits them but it actually gives you control, you are in charge of where you spend your money instead of it just "disappearing"!
Very helpful video. I'm a 27 year old mother of two, also from San Antinio,Tx (Castle Hills area). My husband and I watch your videos, and has given us an idea on how to manage our money. Thank you so much! Very easy to understand. Can't wait for the next one. ✌🏼️&❤️
Thank you so much! Michael is perfect for this. He's calm and smiles and is completely non-threatening. I tend to get anxious when financial planning is discussed, so he makes it easy. It also helped to hear Bosley drinking! Thanks again. You two are great.
Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and recommendations, you are a lovely couple! I found this extremely informative as a young married woman. Financial awareness/management is one of the most important foundations for a relationship to be successful and happy. Some lessons do have to be learned the hard way but debt doesn't have to be one of them. Looking forward to the next videos!
Totally jelly of your lavish lifestyle!!! Stay at home mom of two grown up boys with a house keeper you've totally got it made Marnie. Appreciate the series my husband and I just got married and will be applying all your tips to our new life together. Thanks again looking forward to future videos.
Thank You Marnie & Michael! This is so necessary! My Dad Gambled away everything his parents left him. He was a compulsive personality period. Though I Loved him I didn't RESPECT him. This because he refused advice, assistance and argued for his limitations. It was as if he enjoyed being stubborn. He died at 55, broke and bitter. I saw him lead a miserable life' sick & sad at his own insistance. He was extremely handsome & very charismatic, so he played alot of women for their money. I was left as the elder child to pay off his debts. Today I am a recovering codependant because I was forced to be the adult. Please keep these videos coming. Many of us were deprived of good money handling habits.
+Aminada DNIEMBE thank you for sharing that. I am in a similar boat. I look at people with such self control and organization skills (like M & M) with awe and admiration. I was not taught any of this stuff either. And I am married to someone who has his head in the sand.
I made it through to the end and I enjoyed every minute. I am the one that handles our finances and I do things a bit differently than you, but I must say, I have learned a bit from these two videos and I will probably be making a few changes. One change I am going to start immediately is paying the credit card charges as they are made instead of waiting for the bill in the mail. That is genius!
Easily made it to the end. This is very interesting to me to learn how you manage your budget, as this is not a subject generally discussed in my circle of friends. I think it is important to honestly determine what type of money person you and/or your partner tend to be... spenders or savers... and that will also help in determining how to set up a budgeting system that will be most advantageous. The fact that you both communicate openly and often about your finances is a fantastic example for others. Couples that argue over money would do well to watch this series. Well done, Michael and Marnie.
Great as always, I am really liking this series. Beauty and lifestyle things are always a joy, but real life/world tips and suggestions are so interesting and helpful.
Marnie - this was a wonderful video. I'm sending it to some people who need it!! Thankfully, we have no debt, not even a mortgage payment...and to live debt free is tremendously freeing! Thank you! Love, Jeanie
Watched entire video--love M&M videos. I typically have all our bills paid automatically and others I just pay in full. We also have a few bank accounts and have money sent from my hubby's check directly to those for savings accounts for certain things. However, this series is making me think of re-vamping our system. My husband is always on board so I know he wouldn't mind! Thank you so much for the incredible time this series is taking. You have to know, this is such invaluable information to so many people!!!
You guys are the "Kelly and Michael" of TH-cam ! No wonder you have such a great relationship. I did watch all the way through because the information was presented in clear, step by step terms. I believe most everyone will be able to set up or revise their personal finances ( if needed) after viewing this tutorial. Great job! I am loving this series.-
Love the new series! A disgusting amount of divorces root solely to money. My husband and I ONLY argue about it. We have been together since I was 15. (32 now). Our income in recent years has changed drastically but we never developed a budget. In return have fights every month about where our money goes. The more money you have coming in the more you have going out is the excuse. Every month. We have been looking for a system and this I am loving. I look forward to more detail. Thank you!! Ps- you did a great job at letting him talk this time LOL. Do not worry about time. These videos deserve the extra time! Thank you and great job!!
Loving this series which I watched to the end btw! My husband and I are in our mid 30's and never really have budgeted our income. He's a saver, me on the other hand, I'm a spender! I never really liked the word budget because I just felt restricted but I think now it's not about being restricted at all, its about being smart with finances. Thank you both for this very informative information. We will definitely put it into action!
I really enjoy this series guys. My husband and I use the same type of expense system, but have taken away some other great tips to add into our process. I can't see anyone not enjoying these. Thanks so much for taking the time to share and break it all down for us. Loved the length of the video too, a lot more covered. xx Jen
I enjoyed watching this week's video. Paying off your credit card every month to a zero balance is important. When I went off to college 30yrs ago my Father taught me budgeting and the importance of not carrying a credit card balance. I had a monthly budget and my first credit card was an American Express. I had to keep track of my Amex purchases each month. Every month, the day after the closing date I had to write a check and mail it to my Father. One month, I wrote the check to my Father and it was $0.01 short because it was all I had in my checking account. My father charged me $100 to cover that $0.01 shortage. Having $100.01 less in my next month's budget was hard. My Father taught me a life long lesson. Spend only what you have and make a habit of saving a percentage each month for the unexpected.
My husband and I have a good system going (17 years of marriage!), but you have given some really good ideas I'd like to put into practice. We put everything on credit cards and pay off the balance every month. However, I didn't realize you could pay it immediately after using it and not wait for the statement! I thought that would affect the rewards we earn by using our card. Thanks for sharing!
Watched beginning to end in one sitting! Great job Micheal, very clear, and great job Marnie for letting Micheal be clear, keep the series coming you have valuable info
Hi Marnie & Michael, Yes I watched till the end, I live in Australia, Michael you are spot on with the way you budget, my Husband & I have being doing nearly the same thing for over 30 years & it works very well, we use our points from our credit card purchases to fly overseas, coming to America next year. I look forward to your next M & M session.
Loved this and made it to the end! My background is financial, but there is always something to learn. Michael seems much more relaxed here and I love the dynamic between you - thank you!
Marnie and Michael, what an awesome job! I am passing this along to my oldest daughter. Great ideas for someone who needs to learn how to budget. My husband and I having been doing something very similar for over 30 years. It definitely is smart and yes, what an eye opener it can be.
Marnie, it's great to hear your hubby's point of view. What a great idea to mix things up and that he's supportive of your youtube and even participating. I'm enjoying the series.
Love this series and watched to the end! While we pretty much do exactly what you do, it's still reassuring and satisfying to watch you talk about it. I look forward to more!
Made it to the end and looking forward to the next! It's awesome to have a "real couple" talking about how they actually manage their money. You guys are great together!
I absolutely love these videos, they have been very helpful for me and my husband as we are newlyweds. I look forward to your next budgeting video! Thanks to Michael as well!
Thank you both for taking the time to do this. Great info and great tips. I appreciate how detailed you've been and how simple to understand you've made it. I am NOT a good budgeter and this has given me a nice blueprint to change that. And of course I made it to the end!! You guys rock...thanks again!!
Made it to the end of the video! I'm really enjoying this budget series. It's so helpful and chock full of information and usable ideas and plans. Thank you both for taking the time to do this
Love all your channel's content, but this new series with you and Michael is really fantastic for multiple reasons. There are great pieces of advice for sure, but it's also inspiring to see a couple who are obviously very open when it comes to money and demonstrate full transparency in managing the large task of household finances and budgeting. I commend you both and thanks again for all the great videos!
I handle the finances for my family and have a pretty good knowledge and overview of where the money is going but tips on the actual budgeting and sticking to the budget are helpful and seeing somebody else's view on things gives me inspiration! Thank you from Iceland 😊
I made it all the way to the end!!! These videos came at the perfect time as I have been going through the last months of receipts trying to come up with a budget and work towards saving for a down payment for a house!
I made it til the end! Yay! I love hearing from a real-life couple who is successful at managing their money. I always read tips in magazines and websites, but it's nice to hear from an actual couple. The video isn't too long-- it flies by! You're motivating me to organize myself! My budget planner is out on my lap as I type this. Thank you! :)
Made it to the end! Thank you both for these videos that I look forward to every week. Thank you, Michael, for sharing your financial wisdom. I am excited about next week's video.
Thank You for sharing! Michael seems to have everything under control. We are finally getting our finances in order and listening to how others do it is very helpful!
I feel so much better now that I am doing things the right way. I also use 3 accounts. Each pay, I tally the monthly bills, and move that into a bill pay only account. That was created mostly so I wouldn't accidentally bounce check or over draw. Also, I have an amount automatically moved out per pay, into a savings account for emergencies or things that require a chunk of money all at once, like school shopping for 3 girls. Then what is left in the regular checking account, which is hooked up to our debit cards, is for everything else - groceries, gas, clothes, necessities. Unfortunately, entertainment is not in the budget as an "expense". It all depends on IF we have it at the time. Thanks for these videos!
I made it to the end! I'm getting married in November, so these videos are great key points to consider/great guidelines to follow as my fiancé and I begin to merge finances and start our lives together. Thank you Marnie (and Michael)!
Really great information. If everyone watched this (and especially youth starting out), we would eliminate, or extremely reduce, debt, divorces, and confusion in the world. Thank you for your time and for caring. I have started implementing some of these things awhile ago but this gave me some tweaking to help identify areas further.
I am loving this series of vlogs! It's been super insightful and very helpful! We've done Financial Peace University with Dave Ramsey but I love how you guys run your family like a small business....same concept. Makes sense to me and so practical! Thank you for doing this and sharing your wisdom with us! Love you guys!
That was fantastic!!! I am hooked on your M&M Mondays videos, and I am scribbling notes down every time you talk. You've made the topic of budgeting fun and "on trend" for me...because I'm so used to looking at you for fun fashion finds! Now I can think about something that I OUGHT to, in the same lovely place that I go to for my fashion discussion fix. Thanks, Marnie and Michael!!! Can't wait for your next one.
Really fantastic video, rich with pertinent and helpful information. I have to say, Michael seems like such a nice, laid back guy who really loves and is invested in his family. He certainly appears to have the financial aspects down to a science! You're blessed, Marnie. Can't wait for next week's video.
Oh my gosh, I just found this video...AWESOME!! I'm just thrilled that someone with Michael's background is so great at relaying this message!! THANKYOU!!
I made it to the end... and I'm waiting on the edge of my seat for the next installment! Thank you Marnie & Michael for this series. Don't worry about the time; take all the time you want. I'll be replaying this a few times to be sure it all soaked in! ~Susanne
What a wonderful thing you two are doing. Thank you both for taking the time to educate and explain something so very important to us all. I couldn't believe the time flew by so fast and cannot wait until the next session.
This video couldn't come at a more perfect time for me! I'm divorced and just bought my own place and I'm been nervous about managing my $. I've developed a budget, but now what. I enjoyed the video to the last second. Please continue this topic. Also if you recommend any books on this I'd welcome your suggestions. Thanks!
I'm really enjoying this new series and watch the full videos so I don't miss anything. My husband and I have been married for two years and I'm in charge of the money which can be... a challenge. I really liked the analogy of running your household like a business. I'm heading over to your blog to get the worksheet and lay it all out. Looking forward to tips for budgeting the extras/fun stuff - that's an area where we need to be more disciplined. Please keep making these videos!
Made it to the end. Had to pause a few times for 2 phone calls and my golden ret. needed to go outside, but came back and finished the video. Lots of good advice.
I think it is great that you are doing this. I really don't know how people function without some kind of a budget in place to know where their money is going. I have been married 46 years. About year 4 we set up a very similar budget system which we are still using with a few modifications along the way. We don't use all the latest technology for paying all of our bills (probably an age related stubbornness LOL!) so we do still write a few checks but minimally. Our pots for our working budget are 2 checking accounts and a money market. The categories in each pot are on paper....yes PAPER😁 (but no envelopes😉lol) entries are debited and credited on the paper ledgers. It has worked and continues to works beautifully for us. We each have a portion of the working budget that we are responsible for but in the event something would happen to either of us we both know the other's portion. I hope viewers will take what you are teaching and adapt it to their own needs. It is a very freeing and empowering tool whether one has little or lots. A budget can make little seem like much more when it isn't evaporating into the unknown but rather deliberately used in achieving one's financial goals. I watch your videos all the way through.
Marnie, I am really loving these M&M videos on budgeting. Your first one rang so true- I'm 26 now, but when we first got married 4 years ago we both took care of paying bills and it was confusing and we often double paid bills! Now I take care of it all since I'm type A like Michael. After last weeks video I went through all of our debits and credits from January to now and categorised them. I'm really looking forward to following along and getting on top of creating an actual budget.
Hey Marnie and Michael. Really enjoyed this weeks installment. The info was incredibly helpful. I'm really looking forward to next weeks installment because sometimes it can be difficult to gauge how much to set aside for various "buckets or envelopes". So to have a percentage as a guideline will force us to operate truly within our means. If that makes sense. I never know how much to allot for certain optional expenditures. So great job!
Thanks for these Budget videos. I am loving them. I am retired on fixed income. This is helping me categorize and prioritize my life in a better and understandable way. Looking forward to more. Michael is a very good instructor. :)
I'm so glad you two have started this series! My husband and I have been struggling to get a good hold on our finances and this is helping so much! I'm always excited for Monday's videos!
This is so helpful. I marvel at the self control and organizational skills you two have. Boundaries are so important in every area of life. Your sons are going to make great husbands some day. M and M you two are adorable.
Definitely made it to the end of the video and already look forward to next Monday! Thanks so much to you both for taking the time to do these videos. Very informative and motivational!
Great advice! I loved the idea of having an operating account. I watched the whole video and it didn't feel long at all. Thanks for taking the time to share this with us.
Amazingly informative videos, Marnie and Michael. The structure and breakdown you provide for the buckets is very helpful and it is always useful, even for those of us who have been paying bills for decades, to get another's perspective. I'll be making some adjustments to my money and bill management process as a result of this video series. Would love if you both would do an update to these videos if you've modified anything over the last 3 to 4 years.
Thoroughly enjoyed this video. Fantastic advice. I love the idea of having a separate checking account for the MQA; it will make my "bookkeeping" more orderly. I don't know why I didn't think of this before!! And, yes, I watched all the way to the end. Thanks.
I made it to the end!..thank you Marnie for listening to my previous comments about providing samples for us to visually understand! I will be heading over to your blog to check them out! Looking forward to the future videos, great job Michael! Your knowledge & insight are extremely helpful! ☺
Very detailed and informative, Michael does a very good job explaining what has worked for you so far, my husband and I are not very good are budgeting, I am going to start following your method, obviously tailored to our situation, but can't wait until the next video.... and will have my husband watching!!
Superb financial planning video. Yes....I stayed until the very end. Excellent informative examples of financial planning. Thanks for taking the time to share.
My husband and I watched together on Monday night and even though this is basically how we run things in our household, we did make it to the end. Of course! :) and I am just coming back bc I meant to comment and forgot but I wanted to say-- I hate Mondays. I think we all have a certain dislike of Monday. But thank you, thank you, for giving me something to look forward to on Monday. I am enjoying these and I can tell they are going to be a lot of fun and good info!
Great video! I watched from beginning to end and appreciate so much your time, experience and wisdom. It's helpful and practical. I will be setting up our buckets immediately.
Awhile back in one of your older videos (I think on your other channel!) you spoke briefly about budgeting and how money was handled in your house with the extra bank accounts. I just want to say, I have followed with your words since that video and it has helped tremendously! I'm that much more excited now with Michael chiming in with his advice, I really need it to help get my household's finances that much more in order! Love you both and this series you've got going on :D
I watched till the end and found it all VERY interesting! I will be checking out your blog to see the break-down on paper....thank you Marnie and Michael!
Hey guys...I watched all the way though and enjoyed hearing your method. This is our second marriage, so we decided to keep separate accounts & that has worked for us. It wouldn't work if we weren't both very responsible with money though. I am happy to say we've never once argued about money. Love the series! Julie
I made it to the end and I think Michael has great advice and thanks for sharing and I love to hear him talk LOL.... really loving these M&M Monday videos!
These are great videos and of course I listened till the very end! You two have such amazing chemistry - fun to watch - and very informative. I appreciate the detail you're giving and can't wait to dig deeper into the specifics. Thank you!
I love your videos but I like these also. So many people don't know how to budget. That is why so many people are in debt and live on credit. Good job. These videos are very helpful ..
Marnie, you did great, please no need to apologize. This is a great video, great series & I am keeping all these in my fav's for reference. Such great & very helpful information & I feel like I am hearing this from a Pro, Michael is a tremendous wealth of information on budget etc: Michael's voice is calming, not preaching, which is important to me. You 2 together have a Fantastic way of explaining everything where I can understand & it seems so simple really, I cant do complicated. I sure did make it to the end of the video, I want to learn more, this is very interesting to me. Looking forward to more on this topic. I am really enjoying this series & learning from it, so thank-you both very much for doing this.

Melody Champion Be careful with that auto-pay. We had that set up and caught quite a few errors in their favor. Now Michael won't allow any auto-pay!
Marnie Goldberg | MsGoldgirl Very good advice-Thank you!

Thank you so much for these videos! Not only did I make it to the end but I’m planning to watch again with my husband.
Heather P my mother in law does it that way and it's what i'm trying to move towards. very similar to what m&m are doing!
So glad you watched this!
Made it to the end! Michael did such a great job! Please continue with this series on budgeting, it's an excellent resource.
THANKYOU!!
You two are amazing! I love watching and learning from the both of you! Love your channel, Marnie!
EXTREMELY helpful!! Go Michael!! I'm loving these videos! Made it through to the end and watching it again with my hubby!!
I really love M+M mondays, such great tips especially for yound people like me who are just starting out having to manage their own bills etc.
This is so helpful. I marvel at the self control and organizational skills you two have. Boundaries are so important in every area of life. Your sons are going to make great husbands some day. M and M you two are adorable.
I can't begin to tell you two how much I LOVED this video. Thank you!
Definitely made it to the end of the video and already look forward to next Monday! Thanks so much to you both for taking the time to do these videos. Very informative and motivational!
Great questions!
Thank you so much for taking the time to make these videos! They are so clear and well put together and very much appreciated!
Superb financial planning video. Yes....I stayed until the very end. Excellent informative examples of financial planning. Thanks for taking the time to share.
I made it to the end and I cant wait for more! This needs to be a channel or at least a regular series. Great information and thanks!
Love these videos i've learned so much already....what a joy it is to have Michael on now. thankyou for sharing these tips with us....hugs
As a single mom, I appreciate new ways to make the most of my budget. Thank you so much for the information and entertainment!!!
Awesome series! Thanks Michael & Marnie! This is a very important topic & Michael seems to have a lot of knowledge to share!
Watched the entire thing. Really enjoying these types of videos. Loving Michael and his advice.
Hope you ll make a playlist for this series. It will make it easier to share. Thanks Marnie and Michael.
Kris Pope Definitely will-I'll set it up right now!
Very helpful video; especially for those of us just entering the working world, new to handling income/bills, etc. Thanks!
Julie
Great video. I have a very similar system in place. It is so sweet to see the love and respect in your marriage. Many blessings to you both.
Made it to the end. Thank you so much for taking the time to do a video on a topic that is so important.
I made it to the end and I think Michael has great advice and thanks for sharing and I love to hear him talk LOL.... really loving these M&M Monday videos!
I took notes & I am finding this soooooo helpful! I can't wait to share it with my husband ! I'm already looking forward to next Monday !!
Just moved in with my boyfriend and we are going to sit down and discuss budget tonight.... rewatching the whole budget series you guys did!!!
You both make a great team! Thanks for the lesson. My hubby and I are taking notes.
Made it to the end! Loved it. We already have our own system that works for us but love hearing about other techniques!!
I made it and I loved it. He can do as many financial videos as he would like. He is very helpful!! xoxo
I watched the whole video. Very informative and something to discuss with my husband. Thank you for taking the time.
I just want to have dinner and talk to the two of you! You guys are one of the most pleasant couples I have ever seen!
