    Imagine if Tau learned that kroot eating a bunch of navigators would allow them to do actual warp travel instead of small warp jumps, opening up the entire galaxy to the greater good. Wonder if they would actually attempt the attacks on imperial ships needed to foster the required traits. Either way it's an interesting possibility.

      Kroot already have advanced Warp Technology far in advance of the Tau.
      That's why they are exploring the Greater Galaxy while the Tau are stuck in the Galactic South.
      The fan theory is they got it from eating Orks.
      The Kroot keep this a deliberate secret from the Tau, whether they think this is doing the Tau a favor by restricting them, or because the Tau refuse to share their more advanced technology is up for debate.

  • @darkalman
    @darkalman 3 ปีที่แล้ว +224

    Kroot: "You're what's for dinner"
    Kroot seem to view Empire building as ultimately self defeating. Seeing the Tau and Human Empires as constantly under siege from all sides and having to waste resources to simply survive. Kroot meanwhile maintain few permanently holdings in the Galaxy, including Pech that they consider sacred, while other locations are merely meeting grounds or trading posts that can easily be wrapped up moved. This is partly why the Imperium doesn't consider them a threat, because for the most part the Kroot don't threaten the Imperium or its territory.
    Their ships are also fascinating as the Warspheres are bioplants. They scoop up a part of jungle and encase it in metal turning into a spacecraft with a living ecosystem. They are also the only capital class ships in 40k that can land on planets.
    The working fan theory is that Orks invaded Pech at some point in the recent past (roughly 1000 years ago) and consuming Ork DNA is what gave Kroot their advanced technology. As a lot of what they use does draw similarities to both Orkoid and Tau tech. Their Warp technology is far in advance of even the Tau's which is why Kroot are exploring the greater galaxy while the Tau are still stuck in the Galactic South.
    Ironically the Kroot don't share this technology for the same reason the Tau don't share there's. They both think of each other as to primitive to deserve it. The Tau think of the Kroot as backwater Tribal savages while the Kroot think of the Tau's empire and territorial conquests as ultimately self defeating. They honestly believe they are doing the Tau a favor by keeping them stuck in that area of the galaxy.

    • @StumpyDaPaladin
      @StumpyDaPaladin 3 ปีที่แล้ว +50

      Well ... considering the galaxy in 40k and the state of warp travel ... those Kroot really ARE doing them a favor.
      Besides assuming the galaxy is still there in another millenia ... the Tau will have figured out a means of FTL that doesnt use the warp at all. Or make craft world sized sub light colony ships because a small planetoid /trade hub that can just get up and leave is way easier to defend.

    • @mojo_joju
      @mojo_joju หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I think the funniest shit is that the Tau were still yet to discover safe warp travel, but the Kroot already had that technology.

      Ackshuually when combing Tau and kroot if you take the avian beak and thin but strong build of a kroot. Then combine it with the blue skin and hooves of a Tau you get a tzangor with no horns. You can sort of get the horns from the kroot porcupine quills on their heads.

    Fun fact: The scientific community now consider birds and dinosaurs as basically the same thing. It's been found that the DNA of many dinosaurs is extremely similar to birds. So similar that the difference is roughly the same as that between ancient crocodiles and modern ones. Both of which we consider as the same general animal; one just got a lot bigger mostly due to environmental factors.

    • @merpking748
      @merpking748 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      All birds are dinosaurs ultimately, but I would advise staying away from saying the "same general animal" for them or crocodiles. The problem with dinosaurs and birds is obvious but crocodylomorphs used to be very diverse and modern crocodilians are still quite noticeably different from them, even if the same niches are being filled. Also, considering we don't really have proper Dinosaur DNA not sure what that statement is about, it is hypothesized they are similarly due to the proven relation, not the other way around.

    • @Loserstakethebait
      @Loserstakethebait 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@merpking748 No. You missed my point entirely. In the last couple years we have sequenced quite a few strands of dinosaur DNA and the general consensus among the top biologists in the field is that birds are not descendants of Dinosaurs. Birds are dinosaurs. They are the same thing. The group we define as birds is the exact same group that dinosaurs would be in. And idk where you got your crocodile information, but crocodile DNA has not changed for millions of years. The Crocs here now are the same Crocs since pre-humanity. If you look back far enough, shit changes. But even then, the traits that make a croc a croc, are the same. Species differ, but the group crocodiles are in is the same one they have been in since prehistoric times.
      Edit: We began finding DNA from dinosaurs in 2020. This is a very new occurrence.

    • @merpking748
      @merpking748 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Loserstakethebait Descendant and grouping are not that important to distinguish phylogenetically, so I wasn't debating that, merely pointing out that "modern dinosaurs" are very different from "prehistoric dinosaurs", as are modern dinosaurs to eachother and prehistoric dinosaurs to eachother, etc. etc.
      That dinosaur DNA you speak of is a valid discovery but is so old that you can't conclude much useful from it so while neat it doesn't change our current understanding of their relation to birds, that was my argument.
      When it comes to crocodiles, they are also not the same. They may appear to be similar on the surface but DNA is ALWAYS changing, mutating, evolving. Those past crocodlians and crocodylomorphs are fundamentally different from current ones as the modern crocodlian lineage only appeared in the late Mesozoic in actuality.

    • @Loserstakethebait
      @Loserstakethebait 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@merpking748 You say all of this, but you are providing no evidence. Just acting like you know something. Crocodiles are one of the animals that have not changed for millions of years. Again, if you look back far enough sure. But modern Crocs have been around since before humans have. And you're acting like environment plays no role in development. Insects are the size they are now because of the environment, same with reptiles and birds. Increase the heat and raise oxygen levels and they'll grow way bigger. We know this. Just like how mammals and fish tend to grow bigger in colder environments. Though there are exceptions. I just find it odd that you're trying to correct me, yet you're making unknowable claims yourself.
      Edit: prehistoric is a term to describe time before history was ever recorded... The mesozoic was prehistoric and was millions of years ago. Why even go out of your way to say I was wrong, when you just proved me right?

    • @merpking748
      @merpking748 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Loserstakethebait I never argued anything about environment because you were entirely correct there, not sure where you got that from. Furthermore neither of us has provided "evidence" in an academic sense, but this is a youtube comment section and tbh you can just google claims you find debatable; I don't really care.
      In the crocodile topic again, yeh, if you just mean generally prehistoric then something that looks like a crocodile has existed for hundreds lf millions of years but my point was purely that up until relatively recently there were far more divergent crocodylomorphs, especially in the Triassic and Jurassic, but even during parts of the Cenezoic. My entire point here was just to call attention to this frequently ignored collection of animals to show crocodilians and their relatives were not always the "same animal", it was never even meant to necessarily disagree with you just correct what I viewed as an oversimplification of crocodilian (and avian, for the dinosaurs) evolution.

They have toepads that help them cling to the walls so that they can reach those sweet mushrooms, bat-like ears that help them find prey, and giant eyes that help them take in as much light as possible when the sun goes down and they leave thier caves. When they do leave the caves, they massacre and devour anything that they can fit in thier mouths. They can speak a very primitive version of the common tongue and they can use a few tools but they have no idea how to make thier own.
