Slash has said he would wear his hair in front of his face in those early days because of stage fright. He didn't really like looking out into the audience....said it would make him sick. The hair in his face or the sunglasses allowed him to focus on his playing and performing....well that and all the alcohol and other things he and the band were consuming in those days lol.
In the short story that the song is based on, he cheats on her and she loses it. He apologizes, but shes destroyed and kills herself. He falls asleep and dreams of the wedding which never actually happened. Only the funeral is real. Dont feel bad about being less cool than Slash. Very very few people can smoke in a church with no undershirt on and not have at least 1 person ask questions.

Got Use Your Illusion 1 and 2 for Christmas from my sister that year! I was going though some serious child custody issues at the time and songs like this were my escape!One of the best songs ever!

The guitar Slash is using in the video used to belong to Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry who sold it as he needed money. Joe found out that Slash had it and asked Slash several times if he ever wanted to sell it back but Slash said no. Out of the pure goodness of his heart, Slash gave it back to Joe years later as a birthday gift. It wasn't a dust storm when Slash was doing the solo, it was caused by the helicopter getting camera shots, especially the close ups which terrified Slash as he said when the helicopter got really low and close, he thought he was going to die. The little church he walks from before doing the solo was used in the movie Silverado.
True! Slash used to have a poster of Joe Perry playing this guitar and many years later, when he could afford it, someone told him that someone was selling this guitar. Just like you described it, Joe wanted to buy it back but Slash kept saying "I'll think about it" and after a while, Joe gave up, not wanting to keep asking him. For his birthday, he brought the guitar to a show Aerosmith were playing, gave the guitar to Joe's tech and at some point during the show, the tech handed him the guitar, which was a total surprise for Joe Perry.

I was hoping someone would point out that this is actually song #2 in a trilogy!!! This year is my very last 40’s birthday and I’m celebrating by going to the “Summer Stadium Tour” for The Steve Miller Band, Journey (less Steve, of course) and Def Leppard!
I became a Guns n' Roses fan when I was about 13. I'm 44 now, so I know a thing or two about them ;-) This is Axl's baby. He hadn't figured out how to end this song yet but he used to play it every time there was a piano around, even before their first album Appetite for Destruction. When they were recording the Illusions albums, they recorded several versions of this song. They tried a version with acoustic guitars, one version even lasted over 20 minutes! The orchestra that we hear on the final version isn't a real orchestra. Axl tried out a lot of different keyboards until he found the right sounds and recorded the whole orchestra part all by himself, instrument by instrument! Can you imagine the amount of work to get that result?! During the MTV music awards in 1992, they played November Rain with a real orchestra and they invited Elton John as a guest to play the piano, together with Axl, facing each other. For me, the best part was when they played the last part. Slash stepped on the piano and played that famous, haunting solo and Axl and everyone else gave a fantastic performance that evening!
Damn, that was a great era of music, specifically, rock! Mid 80's to mid 90's was the best music decade of all genres, No competition!! Miss those days.

That's one thing I've learned over recent years..... go the the concert. Do it. I totally agree on those yrs being the best. By the mid-90s music was heading downhill then the 2000s music is mostly garbage. High school and college in the 80s was the best, always thankful I experienced that.

I disagree. We can't go back just for the Music. If we did that, there are SO MANY other complications! We would also need to bring modern Medical technologies with us. FFFF the Insurance Companies, though, they can all go take a long walk off a short pier, they are a GIANT reason for the cost hikes in almost every area of our existence these days. Inflation has staved too many people to death since Big Pharma took over and started making medical decisions above the heads of the Doctors.
I never got the experience the 80's in it's full glory but I got some. I still remember watching E.T. then running to grab smokes for my parents at the store with a handwritten note. Was nice when people were allowed to be responsible for themselves.
I alway felt like this was the 90' s version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Until November Rain we we hadn't had a rock opera since Bohemian. The 90's were awesome only surpassed by the 80's. Slash was rocking a Cross on that chain. This sweeping 9 minute song was on heavy repeat on MTV & the radio. Guns & Roses was the biggest rock & roll band @the time.The bride Stephanie Seymour was the # 1 Victoria Secret model @ the time; put all together with expensive budget. Epic.

This video was beautiful and terrifying story at time it was released and was to point out that people happy on the surface often hurt inside... awesome song, perfect video.
I'm 51 yrs old & I Love All our music growing up. I didn't listen to much of rock when I was younger but Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi..."Livin' On A Prayer" which u must react from it I was born & still live in a kinda small city Terre Haute, IN. A few years back a couple here made a outside music venue called The Mill. Now this summer Slash will be here to perform. If anyone will be with him, I'm not sure. But I can't wait.
I was watching a young UK reactor yesterday watching Soundgarden for the first time, he must be @24 and he said, man "I was born in the wrong era". He's been listening to Rap most of his life. You said the same thing. Nothing wrong with Rap but 80's, 90's music just hits different.

I absolutely love this song. Just got this video in my recommended, I'm fairly young(23) and have only listened to pop and rap my entire life. I've heard a Kiss, Guns n Roses etc song every now and then because my mom have listened to rock since she was young. Last week Spotify for some reason added some old rock songs when I listened with smart shuffle and I was amazed, I've pretty much only listened to old rock now for the last 2 weeks. Even tho I love rap and kinda wish I was born during this time, it must've been amazing hearing these songs live with no phones in sight, just people vibing and enjoying themselves. When I enjoy songs I really like to read up on the artists/band and the story of them and their songs etc so I guess I'll give you some information I found when looking up this song. This song was extremely hyped, I've seen some say there was a countdown on MTV for like months for this song. The guitarist is named Slash, he's considered one of the greatest guitarist ever and the solo he did in this song is considered one of the best guitar solos ever(I'll have to agree). The outside shot when he played was awesome, I just thought "oh what a nice drone shot" but then I saw a comment saying that this was shot with a helicopter because there were no drones back in the 80/90's and that honestly makes it even cooler. MTV, leather jackets, boots, long hair, muscle cars, motorcycles, swap meets, drinking, smoking, working hard and hanging out with friends, going to concerts, playing guitars, drums and getting into trouble. Then going to work, using your hands and doing it again after work. Loving life!
I love that youre branching out into other genres! I am forever grateful to my dad & his brothers for exposing me to rock music (my parents had me young). I still love Guns N Roses and got me into alternative rock afterwards. My parents did a really good job of exposing my brother and me to music early in life. I was born in the 80s, 90s 00s music is always it for me. I listen mostly to R&B, Hip Hop (none of that mumble rap crap), Chicago house music..then later kpop in late 00s..music has no boundaries in my ears.

All of us couldnt figure out what killed her, i assumed maybe trampled by everyone running maybe or struck by lightening. The 90s had some of the best from the hairbands, as we called em lol. I alway felt like this was the 90' s version of Bohemian Rhapsody. Until November Rain we we hadn't had a rock opera since Bohemian. The 90's were awesome only surpassed by the 80's. Slash was rocking a Cross on that chain. This sweeping 9 minute song was on heavy repeat on MTV & the radio. Guns & Roses was the biggest rock & roll band @the time.The bride Stephanie Seymour was the # 1 Victoria Secret model @ the time; put all together with expensive budget. Epic.

I didn't listen to much of rock when I was younger but Guns N' Roses, Bon Jovi..."Livin' On A Prayer" which u must react from it I was born & still live in a kinda small city Terre Haute, IN. A few years back a couple here made a outside music venue called The Mill. Now this summer Slash will be here to perform. If anyone will be with him, I'm not sure. But I can't wait.
I was watching a young UK reactor yesterday watching Soundgarden for the first time, he must be @24 and he said, man "I was born in the wrong era". He's been listening to Rap most of his life. You said the same thing. Nothing wrong with Rap but 80's, 90's music just hits different.

I absolutely love this song. Just got this video in my recommended, I'm fairly young(23) and have only listened to pop and rap my entire life. I've heard a Kiss, Guns n Roses etc song every now and then because my mom have listened to rock since she was young. Last week Spotify for some reason added some old rock songs when I listened with smart shuffle and I was amazed, I've pretty much only listened to old rock now for the last 2 weeks. Even tho I love rap and kinda wish I was born during this time, it must've been amazing hearing these songs live with no phones in sight, just people vibing and enjoying themselves.
When I enjoy songs I really like to read up on the artists/band and the story of them and their songs etc so I guess I'll give you some information I found when looking up this song. This song was extremely hyped, I've seen some say there was a countdown on MTV for like months for this song. The guitarist is named Slash, he's considered one of the greatest guitarist ever and the solo he did in this song is considered one of the best guitar solos ever(I'll have to agree). The outside shot when he played was awesome, I just thought "oh what a nice drone shot" but then I saw a comment saying that this was shot with a helicopter because there were no drones back in the 80/90's and that honestly makes it even cooler.

It was fun growing up when this stuff was coming out. MTV, leather jackets, boots, long hair, muscle cars, motorcycles, swap meets, drinking, smoking, working hard and hanging out with friends, going to concerts, playing guitars, drums and getting into trouble. Then going to work, using your hands and doing it again after work. Loving life!

I am forever grateful to my dad & his brothers for exposing me to rock music (my parents had me young). I still love Guns N Roses and got me into alternative rock afterwards. My parents did a really good job of exposing my brother and me to music early in life.
I was born in the 80s, 90s 00s music is always it for me. I listen mostly to R&B, Hip Hop (none of that mumble rap crap), Chicago house music..then later kpop in late 00s..music has no boundaries in my ears.
Cliff this is indeed a masterpiece from my time. I was a teen when this video n song came out. All of us couldnt figure out what killed her, i assumed maybe trampled by everyone running maybe or struck by lightening. The 90s had some of the best from the hairbands, as we called em lol. For me personally, i think the 70s had the best music though lol
