  • ETABS Training or an ETABS online tutorial was a sought out structural design training video asked by many of my students. I decided to do an online structural webinar on ETABS modelling. This ETABS tutorial focus on basic modelling.
The structural design course include basic modelling using ETABS and the structural points mentioned below
    Basic load application in etabs
    Load combinations in ETABS
    Seismic Analysis using ETABS
Some important design parameters in ETABS
    Result interpretation in ETABS
Fix or pin the base of a column in ETABS models
The structural video also covers a lot of structural design doubts asked by the civil engineering students at the end.
If you are keen to learn ETABS in a systematic way including all structural design aspects and structural consulting aspects, check my website www.civilera.com

    0.9Dl + 1.5EQ combination.
Generally we design for higher loads and hence we have FOS of 1.5 or 1.2. So that we have higher value of loads. But when it comes to overturning , ofcourse we don't want our structure to overturn. So what we will check ? We will check it for minimum criteria in which overturning is possible. Its simply the " worst" condition in which the building will overturn. I hope I was able to ans that correctly.
For eg. It will be easy to overturn a lighter body than a heavy body.
That's why DL is reduced to 90% of its value.

you are a very good instructor I have recently started my career as structural eng in middle east but there was a clear gap between my academic background and the industry relevant skills so I get a lot of self doubt if I will be a good structural eng but your video has given me hope based on how composed you deliver the knowledge, I appreciate your guidance. I am skeptical if I can pursue your instructor courses since we mainly use ACI and your course is based on IS. please advice.

Hello, Thanks for your kind words 🙂and nice to know you liked my way of teaching.
My courses and mentoring programs are all advance but as per IS codes and with a minor over view to BS standards.
What I can tell you is, the analysis and the concepts of and structural behavior remains same as per any code. The differences comes only in the design steps and some of the min and max rebars related rules. These are easy to tweak by referring ACI. With respect to ETABS, the only change would be inputing the relevant codes in the software.
You can probably try with my selfpaced courses and then decide if you need the mentoring programs. I would suggest you look at 9999 plan

Sir, As mentioned in the webinar moment of inertia should be taken 70% of I(Gross) for column and 35% of I(Gross) for beam. Is it applicable for both the axis 2 & 3?

Also is Etabs or Staadpro better for buidling analysis? I am from northeastern part of India
