LYRICS
We stumble down the avenue
Like fairy dust and ballyhoo
They promised us forever
But we got less
There’s no such thing as promises
Just secret codes from alphabets
They promised us forever
But we got less
These are the best of times
Twisted and borrowed times
These are the loneliest of times
Strange days are here to stay
Ever since Bowie died
It hasn’t been the same
All the madmen going mental
Grandma’s on the fentanyl now
Strange days are here to stay
This is how the world will end
When superheroes play pretend
They promised us forever
But we got less
It’s the return of the blob
And Jesus gonna quit his job
He promised us forever
But we got less
These are the best of times
Twisted and borrowed times
These are the loneliest of times
Strange days are here to stay
Everyone is racist
And the Uber is running late
I just lost my sense of humor
Gen-Z killing baby boomer now
Strange days are here to stay
Lonely boy
With a heart made of hate
Baby Babylon
And making guns made out of clay
Are we in hell
Or is this just a fantasy?
I can’t see this ending well
Now that it’s too late
Strange days are here to stay
Ever since Bowie died
It hasn’t been the same
All the madmen going mental
Grandma’s on the fentanyl now
Strange days are here to stay
Strange days are here to stay

Moved from DC in 95 to Western NC. Listening to Dookie on cassette tape the whole trip down. Better believe when I clock out at 7am, whatever 1st shifters took Friday off, aren't gonna get to sleep in, album to MAX VOLUME 🤘🔥🤘 Taking the long route home, Hello weekend! 🎉
I can't play it loud I woke up really early to listen to this
Waiting for you here in Montreal Canada!! I can't wait! 😁😁
@@Paul-z6u there's these things called headphones or earphones. They are little speaker jusr for your ears
Thanks for all that you're doing.
“Ever since Bowie died it hasn’t been the same” Best green day lyric ever one of the best songs on the album 👍
yeah man the lyrics on this track are so cool !
Grandmas been on the fentanyl 💀
@@almightysamwhich4203 heellll yeahhh 😂
*One eyed bastard:* "Allow me to introduce myself"
this song feels like a combination of all of their great songs, so many familiar vocal melodies
yeah it sounds the same as everything borring & repetitive
@@BobSmith-mx4zowhen GD release a new type of song you said it sucks, when they stick to their classic you said its boring, repetitive. Well sir FUCK YOUR OPINION
its very basketcase feeling
It sounds like Basket case, scattered, Rusty James and Letterbomb!
@@coryvyner4722It is played like basket case with diferent chords on guitar
How come Look Ma No Brains got to be a single and not this awesome piece of art!? Don’t let it die forgotten!
They wanted to save it for the big release yk and also look ma no brains was sick
I would counter with "slap my brains, i'm so high" :)
I really like LMNB but this one could’ve been a stronger single for sure.
If what I saw/read is true, look ma no brains is the favorite song of billie from this album
this song is like"stay the night" and "letterbomb" had a baby
Perfect comparison! I was trying to put my finger on it! 😂
Couldn’t agree more 😂
I was thinking Basket Case and Letterbomb
I was thinking Strange Days are Here..
basket case on the start, stay the night on the chorus and letterbomb on the melodies and the lyrics
This song is like the Letterbomb of this album 🤟
It’s basically letterbomb 2.
Indeed
With Combination of Basket Case, Stay in the Night & Revolution Radio.
@@DiegoSandovalLopez4579not even close to stay the night, it's more rusty James. Speaking of stay the night, it has the best bridge I've ever heard in a song
That is Coma City
letterbomb + basket case + rusty james
Nice! Got a Basket Case vibe from this tune, keep on rocking guys!
The beginning a bit but it definitely turns into a letter bomb vibe after
I get alkaline trio vibes
I heard the Revolution Radio chorus melody in the first 2 verses
I audibly gasped and started shaking my hands when I heard the opening guitar riff! Sounded like something straight out of Dookie, or American Idiot!!! :D (This was after 12am, because I was waiting for the second the album released, so I’m glad I didn’t wake up my family 😅)
Almost all their other songs off this album they released remind me of early green day
@@DanielJamesPeart Fairly true! I just feel like this one opened in an especially “Dookie” style with the partly muted power chords ‘n stuff 😁 (Mainly reminded me of Basket Case)
@@SuperStarStudiosPlush I was thinking that is straight-up just the basket case riff. Great reference, if it was intentional.
More like straight outta nimrod but more crunchier and silky smooth audio engineering. And bass nice
The anthem we needed with this one. Best song on the album.
Strange Days Are Here To Stay, Coma City, Goodbye Adeline and 1981 are definitely my favorite songs of the new album
I’d put Suzy Chapstick in over Coma City and add in Dilemma for my list. Coma City is good but it just seems so repetitive to me.
@CaptainPlanet792 Suzie Chopstick is probably my top 2 in Saviours, but there's Living in the 20's, or Corvette Summer, or this, or Fancy Sauce. It's just so hard to choose
Favorite song from Saviors.
Mine to
Same
Same
Hell yeah dude, same!
I've also been waiting to hear this song in full, and I'm happy to finally hear the full album shortly after being released.
So glad Green Day is back. Enjoying this way more than last album.
@@sincerelynotme3522 lmao not a hard bar to pass, but yeah this is actually even better than expected :D which I'm really happy about lmao I was a little worried
@bambampewpew32 Yeah, but it's still good feeling regardless. Father of All was just...not it. The only album of theirs I will actually say is bad. Glad they didn't disappoint with this one.
@@sincerelynotme3522 🤝 me too man
@@sincerelynotme3522 Personally, I like Father Of All. It's definitely their most experimental album but I liked a lot of the songs on there.
Classic Green Day sound, love it. I hear so much Nimrod and some Insomniac in this one. This and dilemma are easily the two highlights of the album for me. The chorus has a tad of 86 in it.
It's scary how relevant this song is becoming throughout 2024.
1981 and this song is the best of this record. It's kick ASS
I agree so much!
But corvette summer is better
The song that nobody ask but everybody needs.
Letterbomb + Rusty James = Strange Days Are Here To Stay
It is such a lame thing to "compare" songs like this, but clearly you are a fan. Never heard anyone talk about that tune before. I always held it dear.... Haven't heard it in forever, so thank you for the reminder.
Although it's hilarious that 20 years ago, no one paid attention to Letterbomb. Billie Joe talks about it on Howard Stern, & you people suddenly act like it's quintessential Green Day. It is, but everyone slept on that one. It was always my favorite on American Idiot.
I'm 15 years old, and sometimes I wish I was born earlier so I could be around during the golden eras of some of my favorite bands. So glad Green Day is still going on strong so the younger generations can learn to appreciate good music :) Rock on!
Im 21 and i feel the same way
Same
Mad stay the night x basket case x letterbomb vibes (some of my faves) THIS IS A BANGER!
"Strange days are here to stay, ever since Bowie died it hasn't been the same" ...Wow
“They promised us forever but we got less” that line is already iconic
Really? Because Billie REALLY misses the point on that one. He can make really poignant lyrics, that one shows his high school education. 😂
@@kaitlyngault3987 bro fym its an amazing line. It doesnt have to be a masterful use of the english language to sum up an entire generation in a single line.
@@EliaAl-Nims As a Christian, I normally like references in songs, even negative ones. This lyric is really sad because it shows the entitlement of most people, & why they can't grasp God. We are not promised ANYTHING in this world. Only the next.
I'm not trying to be an ass, I mean it's really depressing. It's a great lyric to sum up the desperation of our lives, but it lacks impact. My all-time FAVOURITE Green Day lyric is "Not every Sunday can be Easter."
@@kaitlyngault3987 same. Its a sad lyric but a true one. My favorite green day lyric is from letterbomb, “where will all the martyrs go when the virus cures itself, and where will we all go when it’s too late?” It says so much in only one line.
@@kaitlyngault3987 also as a christian, i dont think that line is referring to jesus himself but rather the world and the system. In the line where it says he promised us forever but we got less, i found it works really well when american idiot is taken into context. The jesus of suburbia’s arc was that he left a life of rebellion to live a normal life, but now when people do the same, ifs basically hell in this day and age. Its impossible to live an honest life and not be on the brink of starvation. Especially in the US.
The sound of this album is so nice. I like hearing Mike again
if THIS MASTERPIECE isnt going to be released next, i don't know what song will be. This is the song of these days... i am literally crying about the lyrics because i could not agree more to them
What do you mean released next? The albums dropped as of yesterday, so all the songs are out now
Ever since Harambe died it hasn't been the same
Letter bomb vibes. Love it so much!! ❤❤
This is giving me basket case and stay the night vibes😭
I LOVE IT!!!
This, 1981 and Dilemma are my fav songs from this album but i enjoyed most of the songs as a whole!
Very happy with this album overall nd ide personally give it a 9/10
i was trying to think of the other song it reminded me off
Na, stay the night
my fav song in the record
Within 10 seconds of this song I knew it'd be one of my favs. It's very Alkaline Trio with the melody and the chord progression as well, I get that vibe anyway, not sure about anyone else haha. But loving this album and really satisfied.
I thought alk3 for sure!! Like all the greats are becoming one big supergroup, borrowing from eachother. Of course there'd be none of it without GD.
My favorite part of this i whe these are the loneliest of tiiiiiimes and the drums in the background it just sounds like real rock
One of those Green Day songs that makes you feel seen
The views on this are criminally underrated compared to the rest of the album!
Quintessentially Green Day, there's no other sound like them!!!! So worth the wait ❤
This is probably my favorite song on this album. I live on the other side of the world to you guys so I stayed up all night just to hear it the second the album came out (on Spotify). You guys truly are the greatest band ever.
I grew up with Green Day, still living life with their music, old or new.❤
this is defo the best song on the album! it slaps so much

Es increíble, y a Perú también que vengan! 🙏🏻
I can literally hear 86 in the chorus
I can’t believe how good this song is!!! Why is this not on the radio?!!! Best song on the album!!
Reminds me of Letterbomb, Basket case, Rusty James.
In other words, it's the best.
yes, it's like this song captures all three eras
and 86 (the chorus) as well
This is the one. This is my favorite off the album. Bravo Green Day!
best song of the album
Such a cool song. One of my favs for sure!
"They promised us forever but we got less..." is a MASTERPIECE of a verse.
Keep on making music you guys are awesome 😎
Alguien más siente que la música de Green Day te hace disfrutar las desgracias?
Esa hermosa ironía que al final nada importa a pesar que el mundo es una mierda pero tú alma baila escuchándolos jaja 😝💚
I really appreciate your love and support towards my band, i hope you never stop loving our music.
The best in the world premiere
Another great song!! I can’t wait to cover this one!
Love this song and album so much.
That beginning is 100% basket cases type of thing. It’s pretty good. Main song pretty much sounds like something from kerplunk.
Getting near the end of the album and there's another banger
Masterpiece 🔥🤘🏽
MY FAV SO FAR! ❤
La mejor banda del mundo !!!
La banda favorita de Dios 🙏😇❤️🇲🇽
Y del Demonio?
Billie's guitar work is always solid....... even after all these years
As a guy who listened to older Green Day albums throughout high school, this song feels like something I'll slap into my playlist just for how good it is, but also I get nostalgic vibes from it already
My favorite song from yhe album
It’s like a mix of letterbomb and basket case but I love it damn!! Keep It Up!!!❤❤❤
This song reminds me scattered
Revolution Radio+Letterbomb+Rusty James+ Back in the USA+Stray Heart :D 😊
All I can hear is “Revolution Radio”
Jesus, a intense Basket Case vibes. Love this new album.
being a young canadian is rough. david bowie was awesome. good song.
It's one of the best songs in a while. Love you GD
With everything that has happened within this months, I feel like this song describes exactly what my thoughts are right now
The vocals during the verse sounds like the vocals for the chorus of revolution radio and I absolutely am all here for it
Nice tune omggggg
My favorite so far!
Hi boys, Gerson from Brazil here. You're my favorite Band. The album is SUPER. Mainly " Strange Days are Here to Stay" - "Goodnight Adeline" - "Father to a Son". But the whole album is very good. I can't stop listening to it.
Why is nobody comparing it to scattered? The vocal line goes almost perfectly over this song!
Green Day are awesome. They truly are.
I've been listening to them for about 6 years now, and have listened to (almost) all of their discography preceding Saviours. Yet somehow this album managed to mesmerize me. It feels new, and somehow nostalgic at the same time. It feels like meeting an old friend and revisiting the moments you've both shared together.
Love you guys. Thanks for being together for so long and giving us good music all the while.
Love from India
My fav from the new album.
Whenever a new green day song or album comes out you dont even have to listen to it to know its good.
Keep up the good work green day

By far my favorite off the album it balances such tragic lyrics with a super upbeat and catchy background
2:06 I love this part 🥰🥰
Classic green day tune
"And Jesus is gonna quit his job"
So? St. Jimmy (JOS) is Back?
SUCH A PRETTY MELODY
So far the entire album has been great, Blink 182s One More Time is amazing, and what I have heard from Sum41s Heaven and Hell has been great too. It’s great that three of the biggest pop punk bands ever are all putting out great music right now.
Sadly one of the big Trio are gonna damn break up this year! 😔 Sum 🤘🏻🤘🏻🖕🏻💔
@@mattykalwheeler182Yeah, it sucks that they are done after this album and tour. I’m hoping that a little bit down the road they decide to get back together and this just winds up being a hiatus and not the end.
this one and the 20s are here to stay are my favorite, love them both, ive been wih greenday since i was 4 or 5, listening to them in the car on cds with my dad, now theyre my favorite band and im 15, fucking amazing music
Green day fan for 20 years now. Thought they had lost the plot with the last album but how was wrong was I !!
Fool.
This song brings me to TEARS😢
I really appreciate your love and support towards my band, i hope you never stop loving our music.
Ok nah this is my favorite song from the album 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
One of the best
Every track on Saviors is an absolute banger, but this song is my favorite due to how similar it is to Letterbomb; one of my favorite GD songs. I also got Yellowcard vibes when I first heard this song. Also noticed that the first vocal melody in the bridge sounds similar to one of the vocal melodies in the Viva La Gloria intro. Also love that solo.
Muy WARNING VIBES de su parte ❤
Love this album so much grammy worthy i tell you
Why are the best songs hidden near the end of this album?!
I love this fkng album ❤️🔥
You all are the best, i really appreciate your never ending love and support. I hope you never stop listening.
saviors is what sounds most similar to the american idiot album
No este disco suena mejor que American Idiot
@@MariaDiaz-ti2re i disagree
Nailed it!!
I really appreciate your love and support towards my band, i hope you never stop loving our music.
The chorus reminds me of the chorus from "Baby, I Love Your Way."
INCREDIBLE!!! 😢
Give me rusty James vibes. Man i love this album . Great reminder to SEE how great the trilogy was !
This song gives me hard Revolution Radio vibes
Favorite song ever, my good, finally 90's are come back!!!!!
Billy Joe! Love from Russia! Thank you for your album!!!
