Name her Ruby!!!! She is a gem! Love it!! I remember my first bf had a van like this , he removed the back seats, used the upper in the back for storage, installed a small fridge and closet above the fridge, along both sides and the back he built bench seats with covers, one held a compost toilet and tank for a portable shower when we went camping, he added extra carpet padding in the middle so we had a huge cushioned bed area, it was very nice. We stored a small portable grill in one of the benches and a few food items that were no fridge. The small fridge held quite a bit of food. We lived in that van on the weekends, and looking back now I think my husband and I could live in one like that full time. Excited to see you and Gail put some love into this :)
I'm jealous! What a great deal you got and a super opportunity to recreate a classic. We had an '88 conversion van and loved it; you'll have a blast working on this.
We had a 1994 G20 for 5 years. Loved it. We had the low top, so it was always garage kept. Black with grey leather interior...have never seen one like it since
what a gem...I see a little kitchenette, porta-potty (first thing people my age think of) lol... and a mattress pad and you guys are good to go...of course the engine has to work...
Wow, you brought back some memories Joe,we use to have a 69 ford conversion van with the pop top and screens it had a booth at the back that the table top laid down and the cushions made a bed, a porta pot in a cabinet,a closet, a 4 burner propane stove,a small sink with a pump for water and a built in ice chest.we used it several years to camp in when the kids were small , you got a really good deal and will get a lot of enjoyment with it.
Just bought mine 4 months ago. 1993 $1000 kinda rusty bottom but nice interior. Had rusty gas tank. The previous owner had cut an access hole for the fuel pump. I put new pump, filter and injectors. New plugs, ignition module ,lug nuts, bent push rod, antifreeze, rear ac fan.. $1200 in solar, tv fridge. Took it to Colorado from Florida. Broke down in ft worth. Rusty tank killed new fuel pump. Bought another pump and ordered a gas tank into denver. Got to denver after getting new tires in Memphis texas. Put tank in when I got to denver. Also did front brake caliper and pitman arm in denver, before going into the mountains. I put her through a few 12000 foot passes out there and now back in Florida. Only other issue was egr valve getting a major vacuum leak and having to fix that in Alabama. Got back 2 weeks ago. Gone for 2 weeks
I'm so to buy me an 91 Chev. And hasn't been on the road about ten years also. I'm in the same situation as I so I keep an eye on your situation and hope for the best for you.
That's a steal at $300. A few comments... Lube that chassis. New hoses and belts. Maybe light boiled linseed oil on the various interior wood trim ...looks dry. That black thing under the driver dash is an electric trailer brake controller. And don't power up and key down on that CB unless the antenna is connected. Will fry the CB. And some fine weight lubricant on the window tracks. There's a place in Allen, TX that sells exact mold foam van seat replacement parts. Near Dallas. I've seen their website recently. Swap out that old TV for a flat screen version...much lower wattage required. That's an awesome van.-!!!!
I've got a 1984 E350 that was once a custom conversion van, but a previous owner gutted the seats and plywooded the floor. Still has the lights and velour walls. Its a 6.9 diesel. I had the transmission rebuilt, then drove it 1 mile, parked it, and lost the keys. Later someone robbed the batteries and radiator. 12 years later it still sits in a field.
This video is so funny to me. I bought a 93 CHEVY G20 THAT Ws sitting so long it was outside under trees cover literally in pollen and dirt. Sat for about 3 years. And I bought it FOR 300.00!!!! It had under a hundred thousand miles.
Wow. What a steal. Worth more in scrap , not that you would ever do that. I just picked up a 95 and got a steal at $4k. They have really gone up in value.
Very well might buy one in a couple days for $3350, the owner said he rebuilt the transmission in and that it runs great. It has a pioneer stereo system and new tires so maybe I'm getting a deal. 95 chevy g20 square body.
@@brandonbenoit6828 awesome. Sounds like a deal. I’m going to put the video out on mine this week. I’m sure you will love it. I had to change my brake booster today and it was easy and cheap.
Wander Van just needs a little interior decorating and upholstery work on the seats. Add a dvd player you will now have it up with times. Color matching the interior will be hard but if she likes the color then stick with it. Yah baby!!!!
I bought one just like it in oregon last month. I paid 1350 you scored my man. Mine has a handicap lift in it for my wheel chair. I am having a heck of a bad time locating a window for the drivers side rear bay window. The company that made them is outa biz these days. I also need the ladder and spare tire an rack. I would give ya 400 for those items if ya ended up parting yours out .
I saw a 1996 dodge ram van 2500 for $1250 the problem is it wont start i really want one plus i also Heard Conversion Vans Suck At Gas Mileage Is It True? I Really Want One
If the van's a rock'n, don't bother knock'n! 15:52 The Joe Mobile! The Joe Man Van? The Man Van? (even though it's pink) Mount a gun turret on the roof, install a 50 cal and call it the The Road Warrior? The Road House? The Bug Out Van/BOV for short?
Most likely place for rust is indeed behind those running boards That fold down rear seat is almost comfortable if you sleep on it diagonally, or mine was You might be able to borrow some ideas from this www.vanlifecrisis.com/2015/09/the-320-1-hour-van-conversion.html?m=1 Or you may plan more of an actual build, just figured I'd share because in my opinion it's a pretty good quickie setup, and easily modifiable
Joe, your one lucky old sob, 300 bucks you stole that dog. after you clean out the gas and filters, make sure too do the trans fluids and flush out the radiator, those trans filters are known too hold crap then do the brake fluids too, as they do clog up after sitting for too long. hell I had one of those costumes they are great on the road. hell pull that bad chair ,move up the back one and put in a freg. and sink set ya got yourself a nice camper van. but here's a hint if ya do make the mattes a form one, denser the better. if it is just you and Gail. those vans are known for over heating. 9 out of ten times it is the water pump, if you change that do the timing chain at the same time as the tremor value. at the price ya paid you can afford putting a few pennies out too get her running.once ya do the trans fluid, use a strong magnet on the lowest point of the pan, let it run threw the gears a few time ,then change the fluids again. best of luck with it. I know if I could of found that van, I'd of had your luck, I've be on the road that quick.
Congratulations on the van! I know there are plenty of van build videos, and there may even be some of your exact model, right here on TH-cam. I looked quickly, didn't find a link to VanTique vans, but there is probably some stuff out there, although if you are going to do a major refit, you may be better off just building your own manual as you install the new stuff. www.ebay.com/itm/Haynes-Repair-Manual-New-for-Chevy-Express-Van-Chevrolet-G20-G30-24080/371601826288?epid=79127123&hash=item568531e1f0:g:pTcAAOSwPkFdXghZ Here's a link to the Haynes manual for the basic van, at least it would give you basic troubleshooting and repair information. The conversion parts aren't covered, because that would be dependent on the shop that did the conversion. The Uniden units there seem to be a CB (Pro330e) and possibly a radar detector(?) Although radar detectors are legal in both West Virginia and Ohio, that one is so old I'd trash it, it probably wouldn't pick up all the bands they use now, and would give you a false sense of security, not that you would ever exceed the legal speed, right? If you want one, I'd get a new radar detector. But more important is making sure the van itself is safe and reliable. It should make quite a nice camper van for you. I'd recommend a compression check, with that many miles on the engine. With the TV and VCR, you should already have the wiring for a nice flat-screen TV and DVD player, just waiting to have them installed in the place of the old stuff. It sure looks like you got a heck of a deal on that van. It will give you a nice project to work on in your spare time, since you have no other projects at the moment... :-) Linda and I send our best.
It's the 3/4 ton chassis, so that's a good thing. The trailer hitch is a plus, too. I like the Haynes manuals, since they include wiring diagrams, unlike the Motor or Chilton's manuals. It will only apply to the base van, of course, not the conversion stuff that was added at VanTique. I know there are lots of vanlife videos on the Tube, I've been watching a few. They will have a lot of good ideas and information. Good buy, the body looks great for its age. Kind of like mine... HAHA! Linda and I send our best to you and Gail.
I had a 92’ for 18 years and I’m still sorry I gave it away, because friends kept saying I needed something “up to date”! Biggest mistake of my life! Old Chevy vans are the BEST!
Had one. Lived in it for a year on many different beaches. Loved it. If I didn't have my 2 year old I would be back in one. Best of luck.
👍

Awesome.
Beautiful. You sure find the bargains.💲. $300 is about half of some peoples monthly truck payment and you own it clear. Nice .
Sometimes we get lucky!

I just bought 1996 Chevy G30 Beauville!!!

Why pay someone? I'm doing it lol
What have you done with this van since a year ago?
Herbert Harrison where can I find one
I also have a 92 g20 conversion, doesn't have the raised roof though. Do you know any good sites that sells custom parts/ interior for these vans?
I don't know of any yet. This is my first!
