  • I got the seats out of the van, and found the electrical problem that was keeping the back seat from folding up and down to fold a bed. Also bought the items I am going to need for the next phase of the motor maintenance. I still love my 1992 Chevrolet G20~

    Was looking for a "how to" so I can remove my own seats... and that's the part you didn't video. DOH!

    I think im the follower that tossed Ravishing Ruby into the mix? Maybe another follower as well?
    In my church van (former) for a bed, ive made plenty of careful measurements...and figured out a Queen sized mattress will fit side-to-side, above the wheel wells...with a few inches to spare. Queen is 60" wide by 80" long. I'm 6-5" and can't deal with cramped sleeping situations, not at my age.
    I steered away from a wooden mattress platform to go towards an Amazon-sourced Zuni brand metal bed frame. I'll have to shorten one of the legs in the middle down one side that will rest on the fender well, but will still have about 14" of free vertical clearance under this frame for plastic tubby tote boxes for storage.
    Frame will need to be secured to floor somehow to prevent sliding forward while breaking. But seems easy enough.

    You have a good plan, Joe. I'm glad you will be doing the work before getting out on the road. With the van sitting for so long, the systems need to be checked at the least, and replacing the fluids and belt and hoses is good sense. Best of luck with this new project, it seems like you got a really great deal. Linda and I send our best.

    Joe,
    I probably don't have to say this but, just in case, boil that thermostat before you install it to make sure it's working. Ask me how I know. Back when I was a pup, I change a thermostat twice in about an hour because of a "bad" new one.

  • @artwebb6939
    @artwebb6939 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    All the electrics in mine worked too, even the windows, and, yes, the dustbuster
    My switch for operating the sofa-bed however was in a wooden panel behind the driver's seat
    I think there was also one of the back of the same location yours is in
    In fact, aside from the bad gas mileage, the only problem I had was a leaking heater core, and a non-functional air conditioner LOL
    I did not, however, have a high top

    I doubt your heating problem is the thermostat. Most likely the vacuum motor that runs the heater control valve, or possibly low vacuum.

    • @StBernardAcres
      @StBernardAcres  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's not the heater not working per say. The engine itself is not warming up. I get good oil pressure and amps, but barely a rise on the temp gauge. I'm hoping it's this, and not the temperature sensor.
