Thank you for sharing, Dr. Ellis. I am a mom of two boys, now 22 and 18. I enjoyed listening to your experience, as mine was very different. I am a stay at home mom. I didn't plan on it, as I graduated law school in 2002, but I felt a call to stay home with them and homeschooled them both. I really feel for working mothers. My job as a stay home mom was filled completely. I don't know how I would have handled a full time job too. I really recommend staying at home with your children to anyone reading. I know It's not an option for everyone. I know some mothers who can afford to stay home and simply don't want to. However, I cherish it and have enjoyed it fully and thank God that I could stay home. Time flies, and children grow very fast. God bless you, Dr Ellis and your sweet family ❤️

I’m 29 and pregnant with my first! I’m a dentist and a little nervous about balancing working and moming, but I know we will figure it out as we go. Thanks for the great tips! ♥️

I'm an RN and my husband is a cardiothoracic anesthesiologist. ASK FOR HELP! I had no family or friends to help. So the burnout of sleep deprivation, full time work, and full time baby care was exhausting. My husband worked 60-80 hours and helped as much as possible. Check the neighborhood for sitter exchanges, co-ops, and nanny shares to get help. And sleep training is LIFE~ we used the Weissbluth Method. His son was our pediatrician and was so supportive during our sleep training journey. Great tips! Oh, one last rambling. My husband and I were extremely honest about our parenting experiences. Numerous colleagues have said to us, "You were the only person that was honest about being a new parent."

It’s so incredibly exhausting and I feel like if you’re not honest about that, then anyone comparing their experience will feel like they’re doing something wrong, when it’s just the reality of parenthood!

Great video! I have a newborn and he’s my 3rd, but I’ve found you learn something new with each baby. I love your candidness & honesty. Motherhood is such an incredible journey - beautiful & exhausting all at the same time. ❤

This is such a beautiful video! I’m 25 years old and 7 weeks pregnant. It was unexpected but my partner and I are very happy. I feel even so lucky to have a good support system from our families and such a great, stable person to do this with. I feel for people who are in even tougher situations than I am because this is already so scary as is. I have worked with infants before so that was helpful, but your content is even more informative! Thank you so much for making these videos!

Love the mom content! Theo is so cute & you make it look sooo easy!
Also could you film your most used baby products now that you’ve been doing this for a year! That changing table looks so practical and helpful!

Happy to! And thank you, it’s not easy, I just don’t film when I’m having a bad day (or week 😅). Also why it’s so important to not compare experiences.

Thank you for the wonderful useful tips. I never heard the trick about the wet wipe and blowing on the tummy. Will try this in my 9 month old. And I agree with you about gaining compassion and empathy for other parents. I was also a late bloomer to this, and it took me having a child to really see into the struggles of other parents. And same experience about finding day cares. I should have signed up for the waiting lists while pregnant. My baby was literally competing against unborn children on that waiting list. I couldn’t believe it. I thought people were nuts telling me to sign him up while I was pregnant.

Thank you for sharing this. I have a 6 month old who wakes up at night I’ve been considering sleep training but I feel bad the idea of letting him cry I’m gonna buy the book you recommended. I’m so tired and I can use more sleep. 😂 regarding the robe I used mine all the time I had to throw it away for my own good. The first two months I lived in biker shorts nursing bra, robe and slippers.

I watched this because I like you, Dr. Sam. I don't have kids and never will, what with being on the cusp of 59. Never had any interest in building a family.

This video is such a treat. FTM here. My baby girl is 3 weeks old. My mom, MiL, and SiL have all offered to take her for few hours or a evening and I refused. I’m hoping one day I’ll be open to idea because I know I’ll have to.

Hello, regarding RED LIGHT THERAPY could you please answer these questions : are you sponsored by companies selling these EXPENSIVE devices? I am very careful with " influencers" who are paid or given FREE (expensive ) products to influence people to buy them. WHY would the Mito light bulb costs $108 and the VERY similar Wolezek light bulb on Amazon is at $38? I sadly see many naive and uniformed people ready to jump on any new Internet trend and I do not wish to be one of them! Thank you.
