    Welcome to the SW sir from sunny Dartmouth.
    Enjoy your time over the border in (Celtish bandit country) Cornwall. Hope it was a stress free and enjoyable ride.
    All the best.

    Yes, a good bakery made beef pasty to keep you fortified & ballasted so the atlantic wind don't blow you over. Cream tea mid afternoon and you can take on anything.

    Very nice, I'll have to get that route done. We are tackling the Scottish NC 500 in September which takes in John O'Groats. The route looks quite spectacular. 500 mile loop starting and finishing at Inverness. Get that one in your diary.

      Well spotted David - I decided the Arrow was too noisy for longer rides, so I put the Zanussi back on.....actually I quite like it now!

    Another great vid MF - you always motivate me to get out on my GS and do some touring. Lovely views. Been to Lands End before - I was very disappointed - too commercial and spoilt in my opinion. Nice to see you get wet for a change! Look forward to part 2. Picked up my S1000R on Monday - wow!!! Street Triple now gone. Kind regards, Jon.

    as always TMF, lovely video, I love riding the coastal roads, did Ludlow North loop "ride 33" on the 17' july. love the smooth wide "A" roads with sweeping bends. That's the only trouble with some of these rides it's a 3 day camel ride to get to some of them, still can't have it all. bfn.

    A very good video, which I enjoyed watching. i managed John O Groats this year (as part of the NC 500) and hoping to do your trip so as to get to Lands End in the same year. Have just bought a GS and wondered what you are using to mark 30, 60 & 70 mph on your speedo? I do have difficulty in seeing the GS speedo clearly compared to my other bike

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I just have a label printer I bought from Staples and stuck those on the speedo - just gives me an "at a glance" view without straining my aged eyes!

    My neck of the woods, I am from the most Southerly point The Lizard which is basically just across Mount's Bay from your side (lots of very nice views there try Kynance if you go that side again, also Cadgwith is a lovely little fishing village and the Helford River is always good to have a look at). Thanks for reminding me of home (as I live in Germany now!), it's not always raining there just most of the time and with such thick fog you can just about see 5 feet! Hope you enjoyed your time and if you are ever in The Lizard and fancy a nice pasty my mates mum owns Ann's Pasties then pop down to Lizard point to eat it and watch the world go by. Keep up the great work (you are making me want a 1200GS now!) and ride safe

    Excellent trip. I know some of those roads, as my brother lives in Cornwall. If you walk west from the Lavant mine you come to the Twin Crowns, two very famous engine houses. En-route, if you know where to look, there are some old Roman mines you can clamber about in.

    Really enjoying this series. We have toured Cornwall in the car in the 1990s when holidaying in Dorset and would to revisit the areas on the bike. I remember us trying to find the two Indian restaurants in St Ives! We did find them and chose one. I seem to remember that we did enjoy the meal. Funny though, we visit a typical Cornish seaside town and decide to eat Indian! I can imagine Land's End being even more commercialised now than it was back in 1998 when we were there. Ride safe.

    Not quite. Keep going and the next stop is Newfoundland's Northern Peninsula, about a degree south of the Viking Settlement at L'Anse aux Meadows :)
    Sailing/flying straight west from any point in the UK, the next bit of land will be in Greenland, Labrador or Newfoundland.

    Thank you for this video. This area does not look much like Phoenix, Arizona in the U.S.A..Im currently on a my14 RT but thinking about returning to the GSA and this ride just encourages me to do so.Mind if I lay all the blame onto you if the wife should ask "why"?

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Out of interest what is it about the RT that makes you want a GS back? I'm thinking about swapping out my GS with an RT when the time comes...??? ....and no, please do blame me if it helps....

    • @atdrs
      @atdrs 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +TheMissendenFlyer I have a disease when it comes to man toys. I have had 9 RTs since my first 2005 model RT and 5 GSAs along with a few other bikes thrown in for good measure.
      I have one perfectly good bike then I think that I want another . I always come back to the RT though.
      It's my height mostly that makes me want a GSA as I am 6'6".
      Hard to go wrong either way but as I have gotten older I've come to enjoy being comfortable over being fast.
      Thank you again for all of your videos. I enjoy them very much as it is a bit to warm here to ride during the day. 113f

    • @TheMissendenFlyer

      @davidt343 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      shouldn't the RST adventure gear be waterproof ?

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is if you have the waterproof liner fitted - which I don't in "Summer"(plus I'd rather stop the rain at the outside rather than having a sopping wet jacket albeit dry inside underneath the liner)...

      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would have thought if we're talking the UK then somewhere in Northern Ireland would make a claim on that....British Isles I would concede Scotland may have it....Great Britain, Lands End has it ;0)

    • @ColdCoffee122
      @ColdCoffee122 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah Uk mainland (not including NI) is what I meant. :) Lands End is 20 odd miles futher east.
      Is Great Britain not the same as Uk mainland ? :P

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yep pretty much - Great Britain is the name of the biggest island in the British Isles - i.e. the chunk of land containing England, Scotland and Wales....

    • @johnmcqueen1740
      @johnmcqueen1740 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The most westerly point on the British mainland is Corrachadh Mòr at 6 13 37.70"W (a couple of miles south of Ardnamurchan Point), Lands End is a poor 5 42 56.56"W. Out of interest Ardnamurchan Point has the most Westerly Lighthouse. If you decide to do the most northerly tip its not John O' Groats, dunes Head us the most northerly point on the British mainland with Duncansby Head the most North easterly.

    • @TheMissendenFlyer
      @TheMissendenFlyer  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah it was pretty darn cool I have to say - perhaps I should have made a film out of it!! We cruised down at around about 130knots (150ish mph) - took us 6 hours flying time from Maidenhead to an airfield near Palma and no hassle with check-ins, airport security, baggage, etc, etc... :0)
