Absolutely. My wife surprised me with tickets to a show for Christmas one year and I was over the moon. They sound just as good live as they do recorded - if not better!
My favorite female celtic group!!! 😍 I'm also super happy you listened to numerous clips, because the group members have changed so much over the years! My favorite was when Chloë Agnew, Lisa Kelly, Órla Fallon, and Máiréad Nesbitt (violin) were together! 💕
I don't mean to be dismissive of the new ensemble as they're fantastic but the OG 6 of Chloe, Lisa, Orla, Meav, Hayley, and Mairead is the best that they ever were and nothing will ever top that show they did at Slane Castle back in 2007.
Saw the one of the newest lineups of theses ladies in concert twice. They sound even better live then in the recordings. The legend playing the fiddle is Mairead Nesbitt. She’s absolutely incredible. The girl in green during Tir Na Nog is Oonagh. She’s a German singer that does a lot of folky type music, some of which is Tolkien themed. Her stuff is really cool. Highly recommend.
There's always a built in Level of timbral depth to Altos and contralto voices. It's just unfortunate that they don't get as much individual recognition in the mainstream as the sopranos. They tend to be included as part of ensembles. They often have richer more expressive voices without having to do excessive ornamentation and dynamics like the sopranos. They can sing plainly and it still sounds expressive because of the richness, so when they lean into dynamics and expression - wow! Karen Carpenter, Anita Baker, Akiko Wada, Keiko Kubota, are among some of my favorites.
They have amazing voices and they harmonize beautifully. I first saw them on a PBS special when they were at the castle. I'd love to see you listen to their rendition of "The Voice" from that same concert.
Had a lot of sessions in my dad's workshop listening to them whilst working on some project, years ago. It's really great listening to music that's not Pop or Rock but just simple folk music that tells simple stories.
I have been a fan of Celtic Woman since their very first PBS special in 2005. Being hearing impaired and not often able to pick up lyrics that were being said in popular music my mother had the wherewithal when we read about it in the paper to think I might just “enjoy the beautiful sounds” and boy did I ever! I can’t begin to express the joy this group has brought me over the years and I loved hearing your breakdown of their style and clarifying how and what they’re singing. ❤
Oonagh was a special guest vocalist for the song Tir na nOg. As far as I know, she only recorded the song for the album, did the music video, and the taped live performance for the DVD/Broadcast show. She's also a German singer, not Celtic.
3:57 It comes a lot in irish music both vocally and instrumentally. Grace notes flipping everywhere. By giving more of a space for the grace note it can add the feel of a slide similar to a slide up in a violin without the actual vocal slide which can be too heavy and full for such delicate tonality. Similar to the trills in other spaces, a more tighter controlled vibrato just between two or three notes at the end of a line. Vocal and instrumental folk music share many commonalities.
Oooo Tara, your irish pronunciation is impressive! I grew up singing irish music being born and bred on the Emerald Isle. American country music was derived from irish music. I sang 'May It Be' for my music exam. My daughter sang Spanish Lady last year in school. xx
I love the fact you did this to me it's relaxing I like watching there shows don't understand some of it but love it anyway and I love your take and reaction love your work
One thing you didn't mention on Spanish Lady they had the added voice of Hayley Westenra, and on Tira Nog they had a special guest Oongha who was in green.
Absolutely love Celtic Women! Great reaction Tara! You're right, it's ethereal and angelic sounding. The only other voice that comes close in my opinion is Alison Krauss.
When I first watched Destiny and heard Eabha's voice I nearly fell out of my chair! She has the most enchanting and haunting voice. I believe Eabha is a contractor (sp?). Eabha actually wrote and performed a song on the Ancient Land DVD/CD, Garden of Eden that is quite interesting both lyrically and musically. She also performed another solo, Moorlough Shore that starts out acupella and you can't help but feel the heart break of losing your love to war.
Last song was my favorite. I'd heard the melody from an acoustic song by "The Corner Room", and thanks to you just realized that it was an old folk song (1605? 😮)! I agree with the You in the timbral richness of the last that started the song. Reminded me of *Julie Fowler*, who I think is Scottish.
Hi, Tara! I absolutely adore these women, it would be wonderful if you'd react to them singing Christmas songs live at the Helix for the month of December! They will not disappoint!
Yeah they're good. There's also the UCD Dublin Choral Scholars who are worth checking out. They're a choir, but so many of them are soloists in their own right.
Lisa Kelly is amazing and always loved her and Chloe Agnew. I wish I could get my voice back up to where i want it to be but after 3 pregnancies I think more altogether is right for me, but Chloe I wanted to be like her cause we are around the same age and I was sounding like her.
Beautiful! You should also react to Bulgarian Folklore! It's mostly straight tone and the sound is mostly produced in the throat as opposed to western singing. I'd be interested in your reaction.
They are masters at evocong emotion without over singing and being minimal at the highest quality and picking their spots when to sneak in some more complex notes.
Your enunciation is fine it's better than most Irish people that try to do it. It should be noted that one of the original Celtic women was not Irish. She was a Scottish woman. I should know, I married her.
first of all not to be rude... they are called Celtic Woman fyi. secondly i absolutley love them, ive been listening to their music since i was very young!!
Just to throw out something different, how about some reaction to some classic singers and songs, I'm going to suggest four, one very new , one a few years old and two that are much older. I know they can all be found on TH-cam, I hope you take them into consideration, 1. Adrianna Hicks "A Darker Shade of Blue" from the upcoming Broadway show "Some Like It Hot", second is Maureen McGovern "Little Jazz Bird" originally done on the MDA Telethon, but she did record it on her album "Naughty Baby." Third is Johnny Mathis "I'm Glad There is You" and finally from the 1953 movie "Young At Heart" Frank Sinatra and Doris Day duet "You, My Love." Just some thoughts of something different from what you normally do.
I’ve been trying for over a week to post my reaction but it keeps getting blocked 😩 Please help me by reaching out to Dimash on Instagram and asking his team to release the video

Interesting. I couldn’t listen to a more than a whole song, cause wayyy too much constant head voice for me, but I like how you present different music styles

One of my favorite female groups of any genre. Just something about it puts my heart and soul at ease
Same here.
Absolutely. My wife surprised me with tickets to a show for Christmas one year and I was over the moon. They sound just as good live as they do recorded - if not better!
Lisa Kelly has one of the most hauntingly beautiful voices I've ever heard. Thanks for the reaction, and keep up the good work.
Her, Hayley, and Eabha are my three favorite voices of the entire Celtic Women run
To me, Lisa Kelly was the heart and soul of Celtic Woman. It's just not the same without her!
The main cast changes quite a bit, with the violinist changing the least.
Tir na nóg is actually by far my most favorite song from Celtic woman
My favorite female celtic group!!! 😍 I'm also super happy you listened to numerous clips, because the group members have changed so much over the years! My favorite was when Chloë Agnew, Lisa Kelly, Órla Fallon, and Máiréad Nesbitt (violin) were together! 💕
I miss Mairead. Her faerie spriteness was a joy to watch. I'm glad I got to see her live before she left the group.
I don't mean to be dismissive of the new ensemble as they're fantastic but the OG 6 of Chloe, Lisa, Orla, Meav, Hayley, and Mairead is the best that they ever were and nothing will ever top that show they did at Slane Castle back in 2007.
Eabha McMahon is one of my all time favorite voices. I didn't know altos could sound like that; her range is AMAZING.
technically she is considered a Contralto but her voice is stunning!!
I agree with Tara Simon that Éabha McMahon has the best voice. My favourite line up is Mairéad Carlin, Megan Walsh and Éabha ❤
My favorite female Irish group! I love them SO MUCH!!!!
I love the alto singer at the end too! "Home girl" as you called her. I forget her name.... She has an amazing voice.

Her name is Éabha McMahon I'm pretty sure. She's amazing

great song and great album equally!! love CW!!

Yeah its all very pleasing to the ear
these girls sound so lovely together. I love worldly music like Celtic, irish and fok music. they all sound majestic.
Saw them live twice and both times I was blown away, they are so talented and amazing
Celtic Women was one of the first concerts I went to when I was around 10 or so with my sisters (I’m a guy) it was so beautiful and enjoyable :)
I love celtic women I have listened to them for years, 1 of my favs from them is Dúlaman. X
I play and own one of Mairead Nesbitt’s brand violins. (Just can’t move like she does onstage ha ha.) I love that you are so diverse in genres.
Love to hear u comment on Celtic Women. Pure grace and class.
Oooo Tara, your irish pronunciation is impressive! I grew up singing irish music being born and bred on the Emerald Isle. American country music was derived from irish music. I sang 'May It Be' for my music exam. My daughter sang Spanish Lady last year in school. xx
I’ve followed Celtic Woman for years. Eabha is my absolute favorite. You should do a review of some of her solo work
Love Celtic Women!!! Been listening to them for the past decade or so ^_^ I'm so happy to see you reacting to them. ♥
Been listening to them since their beginning!!!
I love the fact you did this to me it's relaxing I like watching there shows don't understand some of it but love it anyway and I love your take and reaction love your work
Eabha has another stage name, Ava. She's released a full album, Wildflower, and many singles.
May It Be was in the credits of one of the Lord of the Rings movies. Just wanted to point that out. It's such a beautiful song.
Yes, SUCH a beautiful song! (And I'm not just saying that cause I'm a huge LOTR fan lol. Hence my username XD)
7:57 I literally got goosebumps from the vocals 😌
The parting glass is a beautiful song
Enjoyed listening to your commentary. You know your stuff, just like the ladies do.
I LOVE Celtic Woman!!!!
You are positively glowing! Really stunning Tara!
7:49 this reminds me of 'the song of Durin' that is covered by an orchestra ahhhh I can see myself being obsessed with celtic or iris songs again🤭
When I first watched Destiny and heard Eabha's voice I nearly fell out of my chair! She has the most enchanting and haunting voice. I believe Eabha is a contractor (sp?).

Thank you for doing this review! I absolutely love Celtic Woman.
I was at the recording of the first song. My daughters make an appearance at :42 of this video.
I love Celtic Woman and Enya is out of this world
I love Celtic Woman so very much.
I love listening to Tara break down Celtic Woman and Pentatonix
“Home Girl “ as you so aptly described her, is the “Sean nos” specialist Eabha McMahon ❤
Oh my gosh!! This is so cool!!
The first song they did is my absolute FAVORITE!!!!
Hi, Tara! I absolutely adore these women, it would be wonderful if you'd react to them singing Christmas songs live at the Helix for the month of December! They will not disappoint!
Eabha McMahon is the voice you described as your favorite ❤️
Could you do The Soft Goodbye from their original debut? I've never understood why it's melody works my soul so much, but I would love to find out.
Omygosh!!! I grew up listening to Celtic women! I absolutely love them! Wanted to be one when I grew up! 😆
Celtic Women sounds like what first day of spring feels like.
More reviews on Celtic woman especially the current line up. ❤
Beautiful! You should also react to Bulgarian Folklore! It's mostly straight tone and the sound is mostly produced in the throat as opposed to western singing. I'd be interested in your reaction.
I’m not sure if you have done this already but please check out Stan Walker “ ultra light beam cover “ with the Levites
Gotta catch the band “Dead Can Dance” the singer Lisa Gerrard & Brendan Perry are amazing!!! Try & listen to the album “Toward the Within”
They are masters at evocong emotion without over singing and being minimal at the highest quality and picking their spots when to sneak in some more complex notes.
You look stunning as per usual 🥰
Next vid suggestion: “Ain’t no way” preformed by Cynthia Erivo at the BBC proms 2022, it is sooo good!!
I adore the Celtic Woman of song
Parting Glass - Cara Dillon is the best version I’ve heard. Would love you to react to that :0)
I would suggest doing the original 4 singers of Celtics women that in my opinion was the best
Lisa kelly!!!
Your enunciation is fine it's better than most Irish people that try to do it. It should be noted that one of the original Celtic women was not Irish. She was a Scottish woman.
I should know, I married her.
Lol! That’s awesome! Continued blessings 😇❤️

I assume they speak with Irish accents. I wonder how that influences the sound.
This makes me wish i were Celtic 😭😭😭😭
I know I'm probably not spelling this correctly but what is"binusen"@ :49?
I actually said “prime unison” there meaning they were all singing the same note.
Thank you hon❤
Very first person watching/commenting! SeemsGood
Wahahaha! Congrats!
Enjoying this! I really like learning about music while also hearing examples of it all. This video's awesome! :D
xD "Old as dirt!" hahahaha, that made me laugh a bit.
Please respond to more Celtic Woman! Just any of their videos.
React to Little Mix Confetti acoustic please.
Celtic WOMAN
I really wonder if they sing live all the time.. I've seen them live, I was certain they were lip syncing. What do you think?
Celtic Woman never lip sync... ive been to their shows many times most up close and you can totaly hear their voices!!
Can you react to Tasha Cobbs Power ft Kierra Sheard
