    looks fake to me. a45 off the line being quicker is understandable but once the CLS pulls ahead there's no way the a45 can be quicker

    so 4wd accelerates better and then cls power overtakes him which is usual in drag races, more power wins, but not here, suddenly weaker car is faster after this one already passed him. there is actually someone who believes this is not fake? idiots..

      Both of them already mentioned the CLS messed up one of its gear changes, that’s what let the A45 back into the race. If that race was run again and every gear shift was perfect, that CLS would have won. That’s why nobody thinks it’s fake, because it isn’t lol

    No hates here but very obvious this is fake. How can a 550hp twin turbo v8 with 700+nm give credit to a 4 cylinder with 360hp and will slow down after 200kmh? CLS will smoke that lil a45 all the way up to 270kmh

      +JeremyLoveTech123 usually the cls is a lot faster, but in britain they have freking right hand drive and the 4wd system used in amgs doesnt fit into that shit so this cls is only rear wheel drive which makes its 0 to 60 time a second slower

      Arman 180cc ofc its retarded. theres the left hand drive standart in almost every freaking country, but some need their extra. but theres one thing even worse: the usa not using the metric system xD measuring lengths in feet and temperature in °F and shit like that

    The CLS has more horsepower, but weighs a lot more. The weight plays a HUGE part in acceleration.

    Driver is a total wash. The CLS63 S AMG official 0-60 is 3.6 sec and the A45 AMG 0-60 is 4.6 sec.

    As mentioned by Mercedes driver in the CLS it had a transmission blip this happens in mine occasionally feels like you hit brick wall. However it pulls like a train right up to limiter a right animal with no blip would of walked it.

    Lucky you. i had the opportunity to drive it yesterday. I hope you have ordered the Performance exhaust because I tell you one thing. It is SPECTACULAR! It sounds like a rallycar! Audi RS3, S3, or VW Golf R are NOTHING against it, no matter how much money they have spent for aftermarket exhausts
    Have fun with this badass car!

    Yes it was, it was sold as 400hp version only in the UK. It was tuned by UK's importer.

    Pretty cool video. :) I'd love to see that A45 on the corners though. Crazy power to wait too. But remember there's no replacement for displacement and if the turbos on the CLS63 had 26psi boost as they do on the A45, there'd be no competition. CLS with 18psi just needs to stretch its legs a little more, but I love that A45. Don't take it too seriously.lol It's good to see an AMG 2l turbo.

    The current C63 with the performance package has been tested by several different companies and they have all achieve around 3.8-3.9 second 0-60 times. When they make the AWD edition of the C63, which they will at some point, and with the dual-clutch transmission, it will easily get from 0-60 in around 3.3 seconds.

      Dazzlaarr W Yes, those cars are made of better materials, look better and are packed with latest technology, but you miss the point.
      AMG and RS is for snobs that want to shine and show off their wealth and for kids that buy regular 2.0 diesels to feel that they belong to group of company that is able to produce those high power monsters and M division is a BULLSHIT, they have good marketing though, they made a good brand, but it has NO motorsports history, just good marketing and budget focused on paying magazines that kids read. Even Alfa Romeo has better history in motorsports.
      A rich guy that search for 10000% comfort and luxury would rather buy a S600 or a Bentley.
      STi and EVO offers all you need to eat corners and feel safe when you drive at speeds that are crazy and are so reliable that you can tune them to supercar power.
      Trust me, I work on a track where many rich people have like 5x EVO or few GTR's just to have fun and they drive with their Land Rovers daily.

    Ralliart were owned by Mitsubishi. Your comparison actually proves the alternative point. The reason everyone forgets the FQ400 is because they were UK only but they were official Evo X variants. The only Evo X variant that isn't a production model is the FQ330. That's classified as post production tuned. I know this because I have one. It would be easier to insure an FQ400 because that's an officially recognised model.

    yeah I agree on your points. Like Mitsu SST gearbox, it was well done too and lots of after market parts to make it handle 600awhp but that is a tuners car. Will see how the time will lead on this, since Mercs are not much of tuners cars - yet..

    I have just ordered my A45 AMG and as much as I love it ... it doesn't have the most BHP per litre ... The EVO FQ400 has 200 BHP per litre and there are atleast 10 other cars I can name !!

      +Thao Nguyen - The Evo FQ400 still has more BHP per litre regardless of its exclusivity and the A45 is tuned by AMG ... i am getting the new 2016 vehicle and it has 381 BHP but thats still 190.5 BHP per litre ... i get the fact that it has more bhp per litre for mass production cars but there are several cars which are tuned by other companies which have more bhp per litre ... im not putting the A45 AMG down, i love the car but some quoted facts may be misleading

      you buy a tuned car that's not mercedes that's got 200bhp per litre, go ahead.. but that engine will die much sooner that this one in the AMG. The AMG MERCEDES cars are pure quality matte :) Don't regret your order and drive safe. It's a monster...

      +Stefan Sestovic - I think i have been quite lucky with my 45 AMG order because some extras were on back order so i am collecting mine in 4 weeks and its the new 2016 Face lift model with 381 bhp lol ... i won my car from a competition called BOTB ... have a look on their website ... there is a winner every week :)

    I had a fight with that at Mercedes' internal test track, it goes as fast as the C63 Black Series, quite amazing performance.
    Brakes are really good too, lots of grip, nice bangs on upshifts: really well made.

    those evos (FQ-300, FQ-320, FQ-340, FQ-400) were only sold in the UK and by Ralliart UK.

    The good thing about the EVO is that it has a proper AWD system with lateral torque vectoring. The cheapest performance car besides EVO that has a similar system is the Audi S4.
    This A45, only has Haldex coupling, which is definitely inferior. The EVO's AWD is not without its faults. They set it to oversteer, which can be great fun. The problem is, that at higher speeds, these can come unpredictably and without a warning. Kinda Sucks when you're on a mountain road with a steep slope next to it.

    Tuned by Mitsubishi of Britain, same as AMG of Mercedes, which makes it stock. Evo X was also released in a FQ400 version.

    It might be fast, but i doubt it is going to be as involving or fun to drive as BMW 135i. Do not forget it is basically a frontwheel drive 1600kg hatch that only sends power to rear wheels when needed. (read when front wheels start to spin)

    Except this UK only FQ400 is the product of a third party tuner and not a factory. If one were to start considering tuning houses, I'm sure you could find alot of cars that will best the specific outputs of either the A45 or the lancer.. example the Alpha 12 GTR, with 275kw/litre...

    The Evo was factory spec, it was sold at Mitsubishi dealers with a full warranty and was an official modal that could be brought in it's own right, not just as a bolt on kit for the FQ-360 a car already more powerful then the AMG. Come to think of it many stock Evo's over the years have been more powerful!

    Most of the reviews say the ride quality is terrible and on no account choose the even stiffer AMG Performance suspension option. I have an Evo X FQ330 and that actually rides amazingly well. Much better than I expected it to. Won't stop me looking at the A45, mainly because the Japanese seem to have lost the plot regarding reliable rally rep cars. The Evo X has pretty questionable build quality (mine is waiting on £12000 of warranty parts) and my previous WRX STI blew a piston.

    The Evo X was already slower in a straight line than almost all of it predecessors, but i think an Evo FQ360 upwards should be a good match to the AMG.

    cls amg and are offering a 4WD model

    The older FQ400 wasn't a production car. It was an official grey import with extra tuning, but the Evo X FQ400 most definitely was a production model and had a much better engine.

    Correct me if I am wrong but isn't the 2004 Mitsubishi Evo 8 FQ400 more powerful per litre at 405 BHP from a 2 Litre

    Er no. Those where not factory cars but merely some engineers at the respective company in the UK that made them into that by basic tuning with changed injectors, turbo, intercooler, re-flash etc. Hence why they were also only sold in the UK and not the rest of Europe/the World and why they do not qualify as the most BHP per litre in a production car

    lol at people calling this fake are really clueless, yes the CLS63 is faster overall, but on a short drag race it is not, many factors play here (this is not a drag strip the surface state is bad and a mix of asphalt and ciment) :
    1- Traction(and dont if you can cut the traction control completly on the CLS)
    2- Weight
    3- DSG Transmission and this make a huge difference because not only the shifts are power lossless or almost they are instantanious which the total oposite of a classic Automatique

    I live in Edmonton AB, our roads are some of the worst in normal america for pot holes. Everything is repaved every 2-3 years. I test drove an Evo and it was quite exhausting, I drive a C63. I always assumed Evos were quite reliable. I never liked the STI, transmission sucked. AMG is really nice though. Excited to see the new 4matic AMGs coming. The new E63 4matic with a tune and turbo upgrade w/ downpipe will be a total sleeper!

    Sorry but it wasn't "factory spec". Every FQ was a tuned car. The kit was available through Mitsubishi dealers but it was a Rallyart UK conversion. The most powerful factory fresh cars of the time were claimed at 317hp/320ps. You can order Mountune kits through Ford dealers and keep the warranty but they're not factory production cars anymore.

    The CLS63 sure would bring some strength after the first couple of seconds where the dual-clutch, 4WD A45 shines, and ultimately win in big fashion. By judging the footage it pretty much stalled (if i'd guess, he hit the rev-limiter hard) ... But boy, that A45 sure puts power well in the tarmac - great piece of kit. The AMG department are doing things very well at the moment.

    Ok i understand that it was built at a different factory and then is fettled with by Ralliart, but this still happens before it hits the showroom, and unlike the Ford this is still a standalone variant of the Evo, and was Ralliart not a Mitsubishi owned company and basically a division within the company, a wholly owned subsidiary just like AMG? meaning it's still standerd production spec? So dose this mean that the Lotus Carlton for example is not a official car worthy of the records?

    remember the reason no one knows the output of a top fuel engine is that it won't last a full dyno pull, and around 1000hp from that 9000hp estimate is parasitically drained by the supercharger so its not really making 1000hp/l, I am more impressed by the BMW m12/13 f1 engine that made 1600hp from a 1.5L engine in qualifying trim and could actually last a couple of laps of the track and most importantly wasn't running nitromethane as a fuel source.

      2bach My point was that the presenter is wrong by claiming that the little amg has more bhp per liter than "any other car made in the world ever". What is yours? That the price difference magically reduces the Koenigsegg bhp per liter so that the little amg has more, or?

      ***** True true, not saying that I disagree with you, just that you got the wrong Koenigsegg =p. Though in the reviewer's defense, non of the Koenigseggs (other than Regera I think) can be considered as production cars, assuming there must be at least 30 of the same car models to qualify.

    The 2.5 STI engine is deeply flawed. Most will eventually blow a piston. Mine did it in under 20k miles and they still argued for weeks over it before replacing the engine under warranty. The Evo has a strong engine, but the dual clutch gearbox is a weak point and a £9k replacement. It's mainly sensors that go on them but Mitsu won't strip and replace it, you need a whole new box. The AYC pumps break frequently and mine also suffered corrosion on all 4 wheels and inside the brake discs!

    that is tuned (even still sold by Mitsu), this is stock base. you should compare with EVO X regular version. I believe with a chiptune and exhaust you can easily beat 400 mark, but having said I love Evo and it is much more tuneable or upgradable than this AMG... after market parts etc...

    well seeing the X5M etc cars with expensive transmission to be rebuild at high cost, I think after enjoying the car for a year or so I'd beef it up but surely the quality should be there. The border line is if you'd want to leave with bolt on mods, or go further. Surely the 4 drive mechanism and capability of handling more powers is a concern. It is a choice at the end, we will see in the future type of mods this car will get.

    You are pretty wrong then, as that car was launched for only one market I believe and that was the UK and was a separate tuner company that was not associated with the Mitsubishi dealership.
    It's like going to a West Coast Customs and buying a Tuned Honda that pushes 500HP and then making that same statement :)

    EVO, EVOII, EVO III, EVO IV, EVO V, EVO VI, EVO VII, EVO VIII, EVO IX --- the 4G63 and 4B11 have a much stronger following than this new engine could ever dream of - that's how we know - AMS builds 1200+hp 4cyl EVO engines - I doubt youll see anyone build a 1200hp A45/CLA45 to that level ever

    It would be interesting to see this up against the RS3 considering there the only two AWD hot hatches. I've heard the RS3 can launch a lot quicker than Audi states also. Those Germans underestimating!

    Car companies will always advertise a higher 0-60 time. It's supposed to be like a "worst case scenario" kind of number. You can always safely take off a few tenths when looking at the advertised 0-60 time. Especially with German cars.

    for people to have an idea about how fast the a class is: a Ferrari 430 takes about 4.0 secs to 60 and 12.3 secs to quarter mile.
