This recipe was so well loved within my family! Even the chocolate cake by itself was good but adding the milk stepped it up and made it even more awesome. I made the cake a bit more wet than I would have liked but I saved it by adding mini chocolate chips on top of the cake which gave some texture. You could customize the toppings on the cake to make it your own and I love that about this recipe. Thank you for this delicious treat!

Adding the wet to the dry is a technique used in devils food cake. Devils food is more known for its moistness, not fluffiness. Chocolate cakes have a bad reputation for being dry. Since it’s a tres leches, you could probably use any cake making technique, since the milks will keep everything nice and moist.

I made this and it was delicious. I looked up this video because I had a lot of extra chocolate milk in the fridge that I didn’t want to go to waste. With that being said, I did modify the “leches part” and replaced the “half n half” and “evaporated milk” with chocolate milk. But I still used the same amount of condensed milk as noted. The cake was good on its own but this was a bomb recipe and everyone loved it. Thank you!!!

Just made this (but only half the recipe because I didn’t want as much cake) and made two 9 in layers and also added half the milk but the cake is very soft and moist that when I soaked it it became almost mushy and too wet. I layered it and it started cracking in the middle so that wasn’t fun, it’s a good chocolate cake but tres leches cake usually have a sponge cake so I’d probly use it without the milk.
You make things look so easy to make. I've already tried a few of your recipes and my family loves them. Thank you and thank you for this one I've never tried it chocolate style so I'm excited to try.
For the cake I can just make it out of a cake box right ? Instead of making it from scratch And for the whipping cream I can just use “cool whip” lol? I want to make this tonight 😍

Just a tip to help in the future: Mix all the wet ingredients first then slowly add the dry ingredients
