I second the replacement too. Cake flour is expensive and over rated when all purpose, unbleached white flour can be turned into cake flour by reducing and adding cornstarch. Thanks!
I made my first ever tres leche cake. Came out delicious. I don’t care for over soaked so this is perfecto! Please, don’t take this off. I need it!!😊 thank you!!

My mother was always so busy working my whole life she wouldn’t always have time to make food let alone teach me so now that she’s getting older I wanna do something nice and surprise her. This gave me such mom vibes and I love it
I've been making this for the last 3 years, I’ve made it around 20 times so far, the first time I made it, it turned out prefect although From the 20 times I’ve made it not all of them came out perfect. Some of them came out dense and none of the milk mixture would absorb, I got frustrated because I knew there wasn’t anything wrong with the recipe because the first 8-10 times I made it it came out perfect. Now I made it again last night after about 8 months and it came out perfect once again. From what I detected my mistake was with folding the egg whites into the batter you have to be very careful during the process, if you over mix it and too much of the air comes out of the egg whites then it will come out dense, and also make sure you mix it evenly, there shouldn’t be any streaks of batter without the egg whites or else that spot in the cake will be de dense and won’t absorb the milk. So if you try this recipe once and it doesn’t work out then try it again!! Because this is a great recipe (hence why I’ve made it 20 time 😂)
I made this for my boyfriends birthday the other day. Mind you, I've never made a cake before. This was my first time. I was nervous and I had been watching this for the past week just to get familiar with it. Honestly my first attempt was pretty bad, my cake shrunk. It was probably because the temperature on the oven was too high, and the batter was too runny, and I didn't get the air bubbles out... My best advice? To anyone having a hard time, listen when she says if its too runny to add more flour and everything else lol. I did use the Swans Down cake flour. But I am a beginner when it comes to baking. My second attempt was much better. The cake came out great. I paid a little more attention and took more time with it. So patience is important. Just don't rush, follow the steps carefully. My blending of the eggwhites took more than 6 minutes, I'll say it took me about 10 minutes or so. But she does a great job of clarifying everything. Everyone enjoyed the final product. There was no left overs :( But I was so happy that everyone loved it. I was almost worried I would have to go buy a cake from the store. Annnnd I actually put more strawberries in mine because I looooove strawberries. :) This is a fantastic recipe. I will make it a few more times throughout this year just to get more confident with it. Thank you so much for sharing this with us @Views on the road P.S. I Used Cool whip! Sorry! :p Just kidding! I took the extra step. Thank you for teaching me how to make whipped cream. :) Subscribed!!!
@@irenegonzalez1144 baking is a science. The ratio of ingredients has to be correct. The temperature has to be accurate (so preheat that oven if baking!) Add the dry ingredients little by little to the wet, not the other way around. Make sure to use a non-plastic bowl for beating the egg whites, and make darned sure not one bit of yolk gets in the whites. I could go on and on. Don't give up. Read a few baking hints on Google. Don't give up! Homemade baked goods are fantastic - no weird chemical taste, no cheapy ingredients, and your friends and family will be so appreciative!
@@irenegonzalez1144 Don't worry, you'll get it just keep trying. Make sure you use Swans Down flour. I basically went through the video and matched every single brand she used in the video! Good luck!
My boyfriend loves tres leches cake so I went on youtube and stumbled across your recipe and I was so excited to try it. We finally got a new oven since our other one wasn't working and I was like well what better time than now. I bought all my ingredients and my first time making it (not gonna lie was terrible) the batter was too runny and I think it might've been because the eggs that I used were huge and I added more flour to even it out but it didn't work. I was pretty bummed out because my boyfriend was coming over soon so ended up throwing it away and starting over. My second time was so much better. The cake still shrunk but not nearly as bad. It is SO important to listen to everything that she has to say and especially when it comes to having patience. My cake had trouble absorbing all the liquid but everyone loved it. I wish I had a picture to show you guys but it was gone quickly. For anyone wanting to make it don't feel discouraged and take your time! Lastly, I just wanna give a huge thanks to Stephanie for all the hard work she puts in. Sometimes making Mexican dishes can be very tedious. I'm looking forward to trying your new tres leches recipe because my family LOVES a fluffy tres leches and also many of the other recipes you have on your channel. Thank you for encouraging me to get back in the kitchen and for being so lovely!
My daughter asked for this cake for her birthday. I’ve never made this before, but you made me feel confident enough to try! I think it’s the most amazing cake I’ve ever made (and I’ve made some pretty great cakes) but this was gone so fast. And honestly, it was really fun to make. THANK YOU! This really boosted my baking confidence.

FIRST TIME everrr making Tres Leches for my boyfriend's birthday per his request. I stumbled across your video and followed your recipe step by step. I still made it "comfortable for my home" like you said by adding more vanilla extract and Carmel condensed milk on top and OMG!!!! IT WAS A HIT. It was so so so so sooooo good. He had 4 slices and I brought some to work and everyone loved it. You are amazing. Thank you for making me look like a professional. Thanks for posting! Now I'm a forever returning viewer 😋👌
Hi Devyn Fish, Thank you for the love & support🤗 I'm so happy to hear that you made the recipe comfortable for your home & that your boyfriend loved the cake, OH YEAH💖
Thank you. I appreciate that. This recipe is a difficult one and I tried to give as many details as possible. Considering it took me a few times to get it just right. 💞
I have been researching this cake and watching so many videos on how to make one, because my daughter's step mom bought one for her dad's bday and she raved about it. With her bday in 2 days I want to make it for her! I have settled on YOUR recipe and technique as you seem the most realistic presenter! Ty for this video!!
@@Mari-lj7cp i used everything she did except i ran out of regular milk so i used half a cup with the other half being almond milk. i'm not sure if it made a difference
This is the 8th or 9th time I’ve used this recipe and it turns out perfection every time! I have it saved in my videos, and I’d be lost without it!! Thank you for a thorough and easy to follow tutorial ❤️
Hands down, the best tutorial for this cake. Thank you for not speeding up and assuming us newbies know every step or what it’s suppose to look like! Especially helpful when you slowed down and took the time to say “if it looks like this then it’s not ready”. So detailed and helpful 😊
Several years ago, I was in Mexico and loved all of the different foods on the streets! We were sitting on the beach eating oysters at a small oyster stand, where they were freshly gathered out of the water. There was a family there having a birthday party and had a tres leches cake. They brought all three of us a piece of this cake and it was the absolute best ever! It was so good that I got home and had to look up the recipe and find out what kind of cake it actually was! ;-) Keep on doing what you do!
Dang, I watched this whole thing like I was gonna get a piece or something, lol. It looks really good and I wanna try to make it. Thanks for sharing! 😊
I love this recipe. I think I’ve made it at least ten times. I always learn more as I make it. It use to take me so long to make the peeks with the egg whites. I realized what I was doing wrong. I was getting just a little bit yolk in the whites and that wouldn’t let me make the peeks I needed. Just making that change and being careful when separating them. I MADE THE PEEKS IN 5 MINUTES!!!!!! I just wanted to share this in case this is happening to someone. I remember taking 20 + minutes making the peeks lol cake still tasted good. But this time with the right peeks it was wayyyyyyy better.
Thanks for sharing the bloopers for us beginners I know I appreciate it! I can cook but cannot bake 🤣 lol I will be trying to make her recipe and keep your pointers in mind! 😉😊💕
Also your bowl and your beaters have to be CLEAN clean. Idk why but if you have any water, bits of batter, etc, they will not make any semblance of peaks.
I have had tres leches cake and this looks like it's totally doable...but I just wanted you to know how impressed I am with the way you handled your son. He was polite when he came in (a testament to the way you talk to him), but when you reminded him you were recording, he quieted right away until you invited him to come and say hi to us. You weren't short or snappish or critical in any way and his smiles and willingness to cooperate are obviously the product of this being the main way you deal with him. Good parenting is a product of good parenting, so your mother deserves credit as well. Enjoy every moment with that little boy...you and he both deserve it.
Love your videos. You explain things like my aunts did growing up. I love it! Mixing tip - Always beat your egg whites first and if using a hand mixer try a glass bowl as the metal with interact with the whites. It will take less time. Ignore that if you use a stand mixer because they are stronger in beating. Egg whites also get beat first so everything stays clean any egg yolk or oil will cause them to take a long time and/or not stiffen at all. Also, you can go directly to beat the yolks and won't have to wash the beaters in-between.
Great recipe😋 I have a suggestion...If you pour the milk mixture onto the cake when it is still warm, wait at least 7-10 minutes after taking out of oven. The cake will absorb all the milk and you will not have to poke holes. No worries that a part of the cake has more milk than others. I have been doing it this way for years. It works great.
I'm waiting on my cake to absorb the syrup now. My Abuela used to make this when I was little. Its been 2 years since she passed away now so its time I made it. Thank you for this video. And the ramen tortilla were amazing.
I made this and damn near ate the whole cake by myself! I didn't want to share 😂😂😂 I wish I could post pictures but it came out perfect, EVERYONE LOVED IT!!!
I made this for our big Christmas dinner dessert!!! You are a genius! I did this exactly like you suggested, I didn’t take any short cuts and listened 3 times before I even started and even played it while I made it. This is the most “worth it” cake ever! It tastes amazing, the cake is so perfect for holding all the syrup without falling apart but still the most luscious and delicious treat you will ever want to serve your loved ones. I added both the cinnamon and 🍓’s took it over the top. My family thanks you too!
I'm overjoyed--yay!!! I love that you did your homework and listened before making the recipe! I find this is the easiest way to retain information and make sure the steps are followed. Give your family my best! Happy New Year🤗

This recipe sounds wonderful! I must try. One thing I really appreciated about your video, is that your instructions are VERY detailed! This is so needed for the person that has never whipped eggs and sugar together, whipped egg whites into peaks or folded anything into a batter. Showing this to my granddaughter that needs to learn these tricks. Thank You. We may be making this for a Christmas dessert. Pies get boring after Thanksgiving!
Thank you for your kind feedback. We are reaching a generation that hasn't been taught to cook. I believe that by sharing this way in a more open mindset we can all learn from each other. 💞

On my way to the store to get what I need to make the cake because we know I’ll be up at 2-3 am eating it in the dark trying not to wake my husband and kids lol 😂 #viewsclub
Oh my goodness, YESSSSS, I love the way you roll! Okay, I love eating in the dark too 🤣 Save some of that syrup You will not regret it🤗 #ViewsClub Pls tell me how it turns out, amiga.
When you mentioned plating, I chuckled and thought about what my son says, "Quit apologizing for the food, Mom ... it may not look pretty, but it eats good!"
My 7 year old nephew and I LOVED this video. Thank you so much for all the details. Don't be upset but we used a Box mix. But it's the method, the understanding, the cultural aspect, and history that really made him proud of his final product. I normally order a 3 leches cake for my birthday every year for years. Sorry ate it all and forgot to take a pic.🤣 We love all your videos but this one is very special to us.❤
I commented 1 year ago and said how I failed at making this. Here we are 1 year later I have mastered this recipe! I make it for every family function and my son has requested it for his birthday this weekend. This is the best recipe ever! Now my family hates store bought tres leche 😂
This is the only explanation and demo I’ll ever follow going forward!!! It beats all the other recipes and instructional vids out there. Thank you! I’ve followed a similar recipe for a few years now though it incorporates butter early and coconut milk + coco crema in the milk mixture. So yum!
I bake this cake for my 21-year-old sons birthday. He is a food snob four years of culinary classes… Absolutely love the cake and so did all his friends. First time in this house a cake was gone, we don’t eat alot of cake. This year he said can you make the Tres Leches cake Mom? I said of course. This cake is a HUGE hit in my house. Thank you for sharing, explaining and being real in your video.
My daughter wants a tres leche for her birthday. Last year a friend bought her one, I think it was $60. Too much but she was so happy. I’m excited to make it this year. Thanks for sharing this recipe! And it’s in English too! 🙏🏼
@@lynnb1674 it depends on the size and where you purchase it. I allways get a quarter sheet cake for $40, 1/2 sheet I think is $60 and full sheet is $120. Some places charge extra for filling.
The only place that even knew what I was asking when I called quoted me the same (and I’m in a pretty strong Latino area of the city, surprised by the lack of bakeries). I was told those were “white girl prices”. Had my Spanish speaking friend call back and it was $20. 😂
Used to recipe multiple times. Best tres leches recipe on youtube! Your egg whites must be whipped correctly and folded with patience to get the desired results. Sift the flour too if you can.
I’m making this for thanksgiving. Thank you! My boyfriend said he loved this cake, so since he’s meeting my family I thought I’d bring something that he was also equally obsessed with that has his culture in it as well to share. I appreciate this recipe! I was on the look out for the best one out there.

Greetings from Belize, Central America. I tried this cake on Monday for my mom’s birthday. I struggled with the topping but got it to the end. Everyone enjoyed.
I'm making it right now, I love baking and I've never made a tres leches cake, but my house smells delicious, the cake is currently in the fridge, I'm about to wake the frosting, just like you said, lol I don't like cool whip cream, I like to make it myself, kids are at school, husband is working but once they get here and eat, this will be a little surprise for them, thank you so much for this recipe you're awesome ❤❤
So I made this cake yesterday and followed the recipe to the T, it did come out exactly like the one in the video. The cake bread is really good, bouncy and moist. But in my opinion the only thing missing from this recipe is more syrup. We love our 3 leches cake to be extra syrupy, now don't get me wrong the edges of this cake are the best slices because they are drenched in sauce it's just the middle that is dry. So when making this cake if u like the cake to be all @ syrupy then double the syrup recipe. Other than that it is really good and I will be making again with more syrup
I hate when it's dry I swear I like mine drenched! When I buy it by the slice I make sure the container is at least 50 to 75% full of milk that's what makes this cake!
Wowers, thank thank you for this. I made it for my brother who is obsessed with tres leches cake and only a few family members like tres leches cake. Let me tell you something I made it this past Sunday and all my family ate it and raved about it. Ow everyone wants one for their birthday. Thank you!!
This is seriously my fave cake but I don’t speak Spanish and I can’t follow a lot of the recipes. I can never order it to be made here like this for some reason but this is exactly what I love and remember about this cake from my childhood! Making for my hubby. Or just myself. We shall see 😉
I was already enjoying your baking skills, but when that little smiling face popped up behind the counter my heart melted! Thank you for making such great videos!
I have made this cake more times than I can remember! My family loves it! My husband is always requesting it. He says it taste just like it came straight from the bakery! I recently made it for daughters birthday party because my husband's family doesn't like regular cake very much. I was a little nervous that they would judge it harshly but they all loved it! I definitely recommend that everyone that has not already tried this cake out GO FOR IT!
Tre leches is the best. If you are in a pinch, I found that a pound cake box mix works perfect for tres leches. Also, for my syrup mixture along with the extra vanilla I add about a quarter cup of vanilla rum. It is a huge hit. Great job girl. Keep doing what you are doing.
Looks yummy! I’ve been making TL cakes for years at my bakery/ coffee house. A fav of my customers! I instead use 2 spring form pans. That way you will have slightly mashed and lightly sweetened fresh strawberries ( or whatever fruit you use) in the center of each slice as well as on top. I also Rotate back and forth between evaporated milk and canned coconut milk. Best to cover with foil after you’ve forked and poured your 3 milks and made sure they are evenly absorbed throughout the cake for at least a full day and night. Also I use powdered sugar with heavy whipping cream instead of granulated sugar. Great flavor profile as it blends with the heavy whipping cream better. Just like most other bakeries make whipped cream and coffee houses like mine are use in their whipped cream dispensers to top coffee drinks. DELICIOUS! This cake looks delish too!
I make this cake from your video every October for my husband's birthday. He grew up in a very Mexican household and he LOVES this cake. Thank you for your help! I love this video, I watch it every year.
I made your recipe yesterday and loved it. I must admit that my egg whites did not get stiff (I used cold eggs, some of the yoke spilled in, and I added the sugar too early) and gave up after 15min of trying to beat them. It still came out wonderful! The real magic happens when you let the cake sit in the fridge over night! The husband already ate half. I can't wait to try this again and this time make it with the fluffy egg whites and see how it affects the cake. God bless! Love your channel!

Add the dry ingredients little by little to the wet, not the other way around.

I like how you showed how the eggs should look so people know what not to do to get the same results, nice job thank you

Hands down, the best tutorial for this cake. Thank you for not speeding up and assuming us newbies know every step or what it’s suppose to look like! Especially helpful when you slowed down and took the time to say “if it looks like this then it’s not ready”. So detailed and helpful 😊
Glad it was helpful! I knew I had to keep this recipe step by step because I wanted everyone to be successful 💖✨🌟
Me too lol over here licking my lips

I picked a piece from the large portion side and center already...😁
Same but I’ve made it 20 times 😉
Thanks for sharing the bloopers for us beginners I know I appreciate it!
I can cook but cannot bake 🤣 lol
I will be trying to make her recipe and keep your pointers in mind! 😉😊💕
Currently me!!! Thank you
Thank you for sharing! This was me last night - 20+ min for egg whites to peak !😅
Anyone else vibing with the sensual music during the whipped topping hahaha
That sensual healing hahaha I had to get sexy with my music!
I noticed that 🤭😂
You had to cuz that whipped cream was SEXY! Lol
I had Devo open in another window.
"if you don't like it you don't have to eat it, i'm just happy you tried it" literally me with my son lol ❤️
I'm waiting on my cake to absorb the syrup now. My Abuela used to make this when I was little. Its been 2 years since she passed away now so its time I made it. Thank you for this video. And the ramen tortilla were amazing.

Sarah S Woaaahh from where???
Yes tres leches cakes are more expensive
@@samilesamil9159 but not that expensive. Should be half that or no more than $40.

BEST TRES LECHES RECIPE EVER! THANK YOU FOR SHARING IT'S PERFECT!
LO MEJOR DE LO MEJOR, SALIO MUY RICO

Hi Jayceelu! It's the best part of cooking & baking for me- pulls at my heartstrings 🤗❤️
