Very talented voice. The strength and confidence in Delta's presentation is what makes it not really fit this song, though. When Olivia released this in 1974 she was criticized for having a thin, wispy voice... but that's really what made this song so great. It's about that timidity that comes with professing your feelings to someone who may or may not share them, and not being sure you want to admit those feelings, and not being able to be with them anyway. Cher boldly belted out "If I could turn back time" with essentially the same story, and I expect Delta's voice could do justice to that song as well. I don't know of anyone else who could match the emotion that Olivia was able to put into this song, though (maybe Tori Kelly?).

It's a different style, beautiful too. However, fully agree with what you said, expected that timidity for this song ...
