I'm really enjoying your news segments. Your perspectives make a lot of sense to me. Thank you for keeping the TrimUi Smart Pro out there. It's such a great device, for its price ... and one that really needs more up-to-date coverage after all the ongoing performance improvements.
Agreed on the need-to-know on Miyoo A30. Wifi is almost a make or break now. From updating, retroachievements, scraping, etc... Hard to maintain a retro handheld without wifi support nowadays since there are tons of good options that do have them.
I really hope the best for an eventual KT R2: we need a 3:2 device, with good performance on 6th gen and good controls. I would love a kind of fusion between the RP2S (for controls and speakers) and the KT R1 (mainly for the screen), with a little bit of additional power.
A couple of potential Newscast Topics: 1) Apple announced earlier today that they're relaxing their rules in the App Store that has prohibited emulators on iPhones and iPads. Nobody quite knows what this means yet. Will we be getting Retroarch and a bunch of free standing emulators? Or is this intended for companies like Sega to be able to sell old games in the App Store wrapped in an emulator shell? Hopefully we'll find out before your next broadcast. 2) The Russian government announced last Thursday that they want to develop their own home grown game console. Not much more is known about how they intend to develop it or what platforms (software and hardware) they intend to use.
Bought the TrimUI Smart Pro for less than 50 usd in the Aliexpress Anniversary Sale plus a cupom! Still waiting for delivery, but I think it was a good purchase!
I was initially really excited about the KtR1 for its 3:2 aspect ratio as well as the option to put Dpad top or button, but I was saddened by the chipset not being able to handle GC/PS2. Hopefully the second iteration may be worth looking into. The Miyoo A30 looks great but if its not powerful enough for n64 emulation the joystick seems overkill.
I think its an awesome device. Yeah you cant go on the internet or take pictures with it lol. It wasn't made for that. There is net play though. I have alot of fun and nostalgia with it. It plays all the classics and playstation 1 perfect. Sega, atari , mame , super famicom and even PSP! I been playing god of war ghost of Sparta on it just fine. I play king of fighters, game boy advance perfectly. Super mario world etc. it saves multiple states! I really reccomended buying a preloaded 256 gb sd card! Man oh man literally in the hundreds of each emulator. Sonic, gta , tony hawk pro skater 2 and 3 and 1. I love it.
Damn the portal was almost worth something, the dude had to ruin it. Not like id ever get one when you can get a RP4P for 200, but im sure PP owners wouldve liked that
TBH 8GB storage + no expandability SERIOUSLY limited it's value even for PSP emulation, and with the way the exploit worked, it's likely Sony would have patched it shortly after it got released to the public. The thing isn't worth anyone's time IMO. Sony chose to lock it down and in a way I'd rather it be useless, sell poorly, and demonstrate that people don't WANT a product that's that locked down and narrow in the handheld space when offerings from Valve, Asus, and even smaller companies like Anbernic, GPD, Ayaneo, and OrangePI can offer way better price - performance, and in some cases even just price.
Yeah let's be real, most of the people buying the PS Portal are either not that smart or just completely ignorant of the Gaming scene. This is what happens when normies take on Nerd Culture.
im the weird one that still enjoys playing on it, especially since it has the same cpu as the Unicorn giving a great insight into that devices limitations
Trimui Smart Pro 2 might actually manifest because it appears to be a massive success so far.
My Trimui Pro came today and so far so good.
Honey wake up, new Joey Newscast just dropped!
OMG A RETRO TECH DAD COMMENT

In the same thread tgecko confirmed it has wifi, though apparently no BT.
You're the best.
Complaining about ads and being interrupted by an ad.😂 That's my kind of humour.
Thanks Joey 🙂
