Apple made an Apple II on a chip back in the 80's with the Mega II chip used in the IIgs, which was also used in the IIe in a card used with the Macintosh LC. Making a small retro system should be a piece of cake! But I doubt it would command the profit margin that Apple would demand.

Imagine playing fury3, hover, rodents revenge n such, quake, doom, duke3d or even older dos games, with a full qwerty keyboard and mouse like device (perhaps a d pad and two buttons or the ibm nub) that fits in your pocket, tactile buttons and easy data storage... Hell you could do powerpoint presentations too haha
It is such a shame that Apple doesn't celebrate its history more. They basically started the home computer revolution (along with the Commodore PET and TRS-80), but they don't seem to care about that legacy. I'd love to see an Apple II Classic (mini or original size, like the C64 mini and maxi) with a bunch of games and stuff included. That would be really cool in my opinion.

Hey Adric, I have never tried this before so I have no idea... But I may be getting a 14-inch iBook G4 from someone and the battery on it is dead. I have working one for 14-inch iBooks, for it's for the 2001-2002 snow iBook G3. I read on iFixit that they are interchangeable, but iFixit is dumb enough to sell a $4 coin to open up the battery compartment.... So I can't trust 'em. Do you know about the two batteries and if it may work on the G4?
Yes, the batteries are interchangeable between the iBook G3 and G4 series.. Obviously the 12" battery only fits 12" machines, and 14" only fits 14" machines.
That is Apple's business model. Take cool stuff other companies have already done, use their ideas and pretend like it's new. When Apple does this, inevitably millions of their fans will be proud of their chosen preferred brand and praise Apple for their 'innovation' and 'customer oriented design'.

One thing I'd love to see.. is a "modern, classic system" Basically a 128 or 512 case, with a modern MB, DVD, and LCD.. pretty much take the old style case and build a modern day computer. It would pretty much be a geeks-only type machine because an AIO with such a small screen wouldn't be very practical.. but I'd LOVE to see it.

They failed for a good reason. They weren't competitive. The quicktake was a bizarre camera and if I recall it required owning a Mac to even download the images.
The iBookGuy Atually it was much like many other digital cameras that followed in the early 2000's. The problem was that it had two settings, high quality with like I think 12 pics & low quality with like 30 pics. If you picked high quality & were on a trip, you had to clear the memory by downloading it to your computer so you could keep on taking pictures. Problem was that computers as you know cost a fortune back then so you basically had all this inconvenience for several hundred dollars worth of a camera.

Well, the problem in American English spelling here, is that pedo- (having to do with feet) and paedo-/pædo- (having to do with children) is not distinguished since both are spelled pedo-. AFAIK, British English still has this a or the some might even use the digraph æ (ash). I don't know how this is in Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, South Africa, Guyana etc., but I'm sure some follow the American spelling and others the British one.
because linux gives me the possibility to understand how a system actually works, it is a very stable and secure system and I love programs like emacs, gimp, libreoffice and lots of terminal applications that run on linux. And also because linux is better software than windows.
I'd love to see an Apple II model, but I doubt Apple will release one because they are not in the business of encouraging people to tinker with devices. Just look at how much harder the current MacBooks are to repair compared to the older models. If people know how to repair and tinker with their devices, they are less likely to buy a new device when their old one breaks or pay Apple Care to repair it, thus hurting Apple's bottom line. It's all about the money unfortunately.
Each video can take anywhere from 4 to 20 hours to shoot and edit. Being that I work full time and have a family, and that I have 4 youtube channels to divide my time between, I spend almost all of my free time working on video.

Well yeah, they make products for consumers mostly. I would say the MBP is a business level machine however. I personally don't think a good strategy is to make 9000 different products. Apple focuses on a few and they are pretty damn good. Quality, not quantity my friend.
Well you can kind of get this with the iPod Touch, but without as great a quality or zoom. I'm totally with you on the car OS though! My partner just bought a new Acura RDX and the dual-screen system is so hard to use that we still navigate using our phones. It's just too difficult to figure out how to switch to navigation, put in the address, and then go back to other things like music during the trip. Also, we found the voice and UI were just awful for navigation the one time we tried. Would love to just have an iPad in the dashboard!

I use my original Apple clamshell rev A iBook with OS 9.2 classic programs... mostly use the games it has no firewire port just the single USB so I added a SATA 3.5" HD dock and use a 160GB drive where I have installed ALL my old classic software and games
You know what I would like to see apple do? I want to see them go bankrupt and stop making there shitty products. There's absolutely nothing good about there o.s. or there hardware. I mean you can drop any of there ishit from 3 inches of the ground and it will crack the screen. And don't get me started on there over simplified operating systems. The thing is, Apple doesn't seem to care about its past history, they are a forward thinking company, and don't really care for paying homage to there past successes. That's why we haven't seen the Apple 4 or anything like that. Cool idea though.
They already produced the chip... not in the product you are desiring, but such a chip exists on the Macintosh Apple IIe PDS card (for LCs Perrformas Color Classic). It came with a breakout cable that you could daisy chain external drives (As for 5.25" disk access) and an Apple II style joystick. Other A2 functions such as keyboard, mouse, 3.5" disk, hard disk, serial ports + more were handled by the Mac itself. I had one in my old Performa 475. It is definitly a great desk saver way to get 2 machines in one. They had the chip long ago. (Note I overclocked the Performa which caused a timing issue. Basically, the IIe PDS card software will fail to start 50% of the time. It was really no issue and a small annoyance, but the 68040 performance increase was worth the annoyance ;) )
CarPlay and iWatch are already coming, Apple does make a camera with iOS on it (it's called an iPhone), and Apple is the company I would least expect to step back in time and/or make something for the hobbyist market.
I am not so much into newer Mac products, but I do have a vintage mac collection. In fact my newest apple product that I own is a G5 tower. But I would like to see a product similar to the Microsoft Surface, a tablet running a full version of Apple OS X in it, instead of iOS.
i have personally wanted apple to make a miniature version of any of their older computers running on updated hardware in native form for the sake of size and power consumption. i know they can do it, hell someone else could probably do it if it was legal and they have all the information from apple. im a huge fan of the original PPC stuff and well, 68k too.
Part of the reason they don't adopt a popular system like Apple or Android, is that those are often targeted systems. That's why many of them either use proprietary systems or buy an off-the-shelf system from some unknown source (for example, Blackberry at one point sold an solution for vehicles (I believe it was part of the QNX platform), and they may still do this although it's not obvious to buyers).
Well, at least they do have a smart watch now, and a car infotainment system (or rather, a whole car) is coming soon. No camera tho, and as others pointed out, a retro Apple II isn't coming.

I'd love to see an Apple II model, but I doubt Apple will release one because they are not in the business of encouraging people to tinker with devices. Just look at how much harder the current MacBooks are to repair compared to the older models. If people know how to repair and tinker with their devices, they are less likely to buy a new device when their old one breaks or pay Apple Care to repair it, thus hurting Apple's bottom line. It's all about the money unfortunately.

Each video can take anywhere from 4 to 20 hours to shoot and edit. Being that I work full time and have a family, and that I have 4 youtube channels to divide my time between, I spend almost all of my free time working on video.

I personally don't think a good strategy is to make 9000 different products. Apple focuses on a few and they are pretty damn good. Quality, not quantity my friend.
Well you can kind of get this with the iPod Touch, but without as great a quality or zoom. I'm totally with you on the car OS though! My partner just bought a new Acura RDX and the dual-screen system is so hard to use that we still navigate using our phones. It's just too difficult to figure out how to switch to navigation, put in the address, and then go back to other things like music during the trip. Also, we found the voice and UI were just awful for navigation the one time we tried. Would love to just have an iPad in the dashboard!

It was Steve Jobs seeing the idea for a GUI at Xerox who then insisted that Apple head that direction and spend the companies resources it made selling the Apple II. They developed the Apple Lisa and later the MacIntosh at which time Microsoft was brought on to develop apps for. Bill Gates used his business savy to borrow what he saw Apple doing with the LIsa and MacIntosh to develop Windows for the PC market.

sumsung makes a great camera for a great price that same camera would be twice as expensive if apple would make it, apple is such a greedy company the loadign cable broke on my android tablet i bougght a new one for 2.99 euro, my moms cable broke soon after off her ipad mini she could buy just any cable she had to buy one from apple cause they changed the plug a little bit just enough so a normal plugg would not fit cost: 15 euro!! its a pure ripp off !!! , apple products are not better then lets say a samsung tablet or a windows operated system, i still think and feel that apple is bought by people who like waisting money! cause nothing justifies their inflated prices

I use my original Apple clamshell rev A iBook with OS 9.2 classic programs... mostly use the games it has no firewire port just the single USB so I added a SATA 3.5" HD dock and use a 160GB drive where I have installed ALL my old classic software and games
You know what I would like to see apple do? I want to see them go bankrupt and stop making there shitty products. There's absolutely nothing good about there o.s. or there hardware. I mean you can drop any of there ishit from 3 inches of the ground and it will crack the screen. And don't get me started on there over simplified operating systems. They just need to go die in a hole on the sun, maybe Microsoft can design the rocket with there vastly superior technology. Apple may be able to but it would probably break on the launch pad and if it somehow made it to space apple maps would get them lost and put them in orbit around Pluto or something like that. But what do I know I'm just a hater, a Microsoft fanboy, or whatever else you may want to call me, But what I say is just an opinion that me and millions(and I do mean millions no sarcasm) of others hold.
I'd still say that the comment on Mac OS X is incorrect. OS X is superior in ALMOST all ways. Whilst it does suffer for games and smaller 3rd party apps it overall has a better experience.

I've just watched this video, and I had to giggle when you mentioned what we now know as the Apple watch.
Um.... judging by this video, I have to ask.
Do you even do ANY research on ANYTHING related to Apple other than their wikipedia history?
1. They did NOT come out with the first personal computer.
2. Windows 3.1 and 95 popularized the GUI, not Mac OS.
3. What is the point of this? They already have this. It's called "The iPod Touch" and there's a cellular version called "The iPhone". You seriously take a Samsung Marketing scheme and use it for filler in your video.
4. They ARE making iOS for the car. You're "TheiBookGuy" and you haven't heard of CarPlay yet? Really?
5. Again, might wanna read up on a little more than Apple's wikipedia article and more than just the first paragraph. They ARE making a smartwatch too. Tim Cook himself admitted it at D11.
6. Apple already tried the Game Console and it FAILED. As for a console or what you are saying, just download an old game from the App Store and use AirPlay. They DO have something that competes. It's called the AppleTV. They don't need this when the App Store is so successful. In fact, towards the end, what does this have to do with Apple again?
7. Since when (excluding pre 1979) did Apple cater to "hackers"? That's the OPPOSITE of their market.

The thing is, Apple doesn't seem to care about its past history, they are a forward thinking company, and don't really care for paying homage to there past successes. That's why we haven't seen the Apple 4 or anything like that. Cool idea though.
They already produced the chip... not in the product you are desiring, but such a chip exists on the Macintosh Apple IIe PDS card (for LCs Perrformas Color Classic). It came with a breakout cable that you could daisy chain external drives (As for 5.25" disk access) and an Apple II style joystick. Other A2 functions such as keyboard, mouse, 3.5" disk, hard disk, serial ports + more were handled by the Mac itself. I had one in my old Performa 475. It is definitly a great desk saver way to get 2 machines in one.
They had the chip long ago.
(Note I overclocked the Performa which caused a timing issue. Basically, the IIe PDS card software will fail to start 50% of the time. It was really no issue and a small annoyance, but the 68040 performance increase was worth the annoyance ;) )

CarPlay and iWatch are already coming, Apple does make a camera with iOS on it (it's called an iPhone), and Apple is the company I would least expect to step back in time and/or make something for the hobbyist market.

I am not so much into newer Mac products, but I do have a vintage mac collection. In fact my newest apple product that I own is a G5 tower. But I would like to see a product similar to the Microsoft Surface, a tablet running a full version of Apple OS X in it, instead of iOS.

i have personally wanted apple to make a miniature version of any of their older computers running on updated hardware in native form for the sake of size and power consumption. i know they can do it, hell someone else could probably do it if it was legal and they have all the information from apple. im a huge fan of the original PPC stuff and well, 68k too.

Part of the reason they don't adopt a popular system like Apple or Android, is that those are often targeted systems. That's why many of them either use proprietary systems or buy an off-the-shelf system from some unknown source (for example, Blackberry at one point sold an solution for vehicles (I believe it was part of the QNX platform), and they may still do this although it's not obvious to buyers).
