    This is just the epitome of the future of rock n roll. The thunderous drum fills, the smooth lick, simple chords, the voice and rhythm of the vocals, the perfect rock n roll song.

    Thanks for the lesson! I've always been a big fan of early rock n roll and Buddy Holly is definitely one of my favs. My high school pals thought I was born in the wrong decade. While they listened to Tom Petty I was blasting Buddy Holly from my cassette deck. Keep em coming. Please.

    This is Rock and Roll. This is the DNA blueprint of Rock and Roll at its roots.- its a song somenone wrote to capture the essence of a feeling, with a melody and some licks and some words too. and not too much feedback ( that'll come later). No doubt to be covered for generations - Rock n Roll music

    I haven't had a guitar for twenty years and I couldnt play a lick and I had no ear at all but I LOVE this clip. It's done so well. If I start playing again, I'll try doing "Maybe Baby". I'm glad I came across your clips. You take so much time to show people how to do a great pop song. Thanks.☺

    I'm determined to play this well. I have parts of this down pretty good and working on the rest. Playing my daughter's acoustic for past 8 months. Thanks for the lesson. Absolutely love this era although before my time. I'll take this music over ANY of today's utter garbage rap/indeterminate sex computerized crap that all sounds the same to me.

  • @xpmark1
    @xpmark1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Thanks Jimmy.I read that in the recording studio Buddy's guitar signal was split two ways between his amplifier and the same signal direct into the mixing board.This gave it a magic that is not duplicated in live performance.Hard to describe but you can hear the difference and I did attend Buddy and The Crickets live in 1957.Have you known about this and do I have it correct?Thanks

    • @JimmyParagalloGuitar
      @JimmyParagalloGuitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is interesting! I've never heard about this but I wouldn't put it past Norman Petty and Holly to try it. I think maybe I'll try a test on this and see what it sounds like. New idea for a video! What was it like to see them in '57? I bet that's a great story.

    • @xpmark1
      @xpmark1 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The show I saw in Tulsa,Ok.in 1957 the band may have been billed as The Crickets but Buddy Holly was the reason it was a full house.Buddy and the Crickets pumped out that raw energy from Buddy's Stratocaster and the great drummer. I remember Buddy would arch his back and then snake around on the stage when he was playing his guitar only.Very explosive is how I would describe it.The crowd erupted and was very turned on by this lanky Texan's talents and that of the entire band.

    • @xpmark1
      @xpmark1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you try that idea, it is splitting the electric guitar signal into two, one into the amp and the other the unamplified sound from the guitar pickups directly into the mixing board in a recording studio.If you try this in the recording studio, let us know if anything interesting happens.

    • @JimmyParagalloGuitar
      @JimmyParagalloGuitar  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Awesome! I filmed the video demonstrating this idea today. Just working on the editing. It should be ready soon.

    • @xpmark1
      @xpmark1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I first noticed this on the 45rpm record of Peggy Sue when Buddy did that explosive chord solo in the middle.I don't have recording equipment so I am anxious to learn if that's what was making the magic.

  • @Rossdink
    @Rossdink 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Ya know this is a very great video. But I can’t understand why many you tubers don’t play the song all the way through at the end or in the beginning. I can play along with the intro perfectly but then I get lost with doing each part slowly and separately and never piecing it together played at full speed.. just play the fucken thing lol but I like these videos either way. You have good Rhythm which I could use work on

    • @kat834
      @kat834 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I believe his mother helped him with the lyric and approved the chords but essentially the work was his own. Hey who wouldn't want Momas approval. Buddy was only in his twenties when he died sadly. So much talent at such a young age. These type of people dont come around very often.

  • @iansutherlandcraig

    It’s a cover rather than a lesson. It doesn’t follow what Buddy played in either tempo or rhythm. You can play but it’s nothing like the original.

  • @pearsedunne9938
    @pearsedunne9938 ปีที่แล้ว

    You’re playing the wrong rhythm pattern. Buddy’s rhythm and accent attacks were all straight down-strokes, better known as the Tex-Mex style……
