Animal Collective will always have such a special place in my heart. They pour so much into the songs and sounds, this video just made me appreciate them that much more ❤️
Thanks mang! I wonder if it was hard for Brian/Geologist to choose which modules to bring on this special trip (assuming he has more than what's in that case he brought).
watching this is bizzare its like watching those documentaries about bands or celebrities as a kid but now with the sweetest people on earth my all time favorite artists in a documentary capturing there sampling journey its weird its like a dream
AC is one of my favorite bands and i'm surprised that im only finding out about this now! was doing my weekly watch of Sung Tongs live performance and this was on the autoplay and i'm so pumped to watch this!
Everyone in that village is so good looking for some reason Geologist seems more handsome than usual in this video too also I laughed out loud at the end when Avey sped up the recording
Kinda reminds me of the Beatles' trip to India. They may have not recorded any music there, but the majority of the White Albums' songs were written there, and the trip itself inspired a good chunk of the songs on that album. But what the guys are doing here is like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. How many musicians can say they got to record authentic tribal music? Also, where was Panda Bear?
Rum, rum! I have found out where your sympathy comes from! Of the collective, really! It's amazing to watch an old-fashioned industrial age creep in; as a composer from Bahia says: _ An Indian will come from the future, not because it is exotic but because it is the obvious _ In mega cities it is difficult to live collectively; most common is to live in mass. Thanks for the trip.
they're a bunch of successful white dudes from baltimore who recorded the (presumably deeply impoverished) tatuyo tribe's music and used it as their own. i have only watched chapter one, but i'm gonna assume that the tribal musicians were not given performance/composition/publishing rights or paid royalties. would be so happy to learn that i'm wrong about that assumption.
also, i'm pretty sure that animal collective would not be super cool with you making money off of their music, even if they were just "expressing" it to you. white dudes are funny like that.
2:19 - Geo- "There are certain things i knew about the rainforest..."

Go away
this whole thing reaks of poorly thought out cultural appropriation
How so? What did they do wrong?

cryfok It's hard for me to believe that the tribe wanted royalties for expressing their music to them
yeah, i'm sure they really love poverty and hardship just like all of us do.
