One time Dave was talking about noticing a small drip of venom on a New Zealand funnel web's fang when it was in a defensive posture, and he said *"she's drippin' and ready to go"* . That is pretty much the only time you wouldn't want to hear that combination of words. 😂
Spiders , us humans see things in the urinal , and think he's got an Anaconda, spiders , they share a roach , and say , cop the pedapelps on horse over there , lucky p^!@k ........... gotta luv it , it's mad , in a madgic way. RARARA
As a former tarantula breeder I can tell you having all the prey out of the breeding tank is very helpful. This breeding went almost the same way as most tarantulas. Congrats on keeping the male alive. Thanks for posting this great video.

There's an English word for such organisms: aggressive. Just because this word best describes them doesn't mean you don't have to like them anymore. Heck, you can even vacate "team human" and join "team Phoneutria" if you want to. ...But they are, indeed, aggressive, especially in relation to other spiders that "definitely aren't even slightly aggressive."

Dave I live in the Blue Mountains near Sydney. I once worked with a plumber who told me that he had to rip up floorboards to do some plumbing and when he shined his torch in the hole in the floor that he was about to drop into, he saw maybe 20 funnel web spiders all rearing up and going at each other.
mate that sequence of them just chilling around and being all calm and gentle did wonders to my arachnophobia. the best treatment is watching spiders just go about their stuff

Also genuine question. Is it possible for spiders to imprint on people? I assume most of them can't, as they most likely work the same way as "reptile brain", where they eat anything they can't, that isn't part of their species, and also their own species if they aren't mating. But I was told that Jumping Spiders are VASTLY more intelligent than other types of spider?
@@TheMikesc15 There is a kinda jumping spider that can calculate distances and angles, not to sure about emotions, I've been told some are like cats in intelligence but idk if I believe it or not imo. None of my spiders gave me any special treatment. But a friend of mine had a goliath bird eater who would cuddle up in your hands and sleep.
Imagine that a giant spider comes by and just pull the ceiling of your house off, take you out your bed and put you into a box. After that the spider says "Nah, I'm sure you can rearenge that house later". How would that feel? 😂😂😂 Just joking with ya. Amazing video, I love spiders.
I've only seen a handful of spider/tarantula breeding videos, but I have never seen the female attempt to instigate like that. Certainly never seen one put herself in a vulnerable position like that. Very fascinating.

Most of them attack only as self-defence and if they don't feel you as a threat they will just crawl on you and that's it. People are scared cause they look intimidating.

Have you ever considered using an auto mechanics bore scope to observe inside the nest? Its basically a very small camera system on a long bendy stick, used to look inside an engine or other confined spaces. Could be cool to get an up close and personal view 🤓

There was a spider crawling on me once. To test my fear I left it alone. A few hours later I found a large bump on my shoulder where the spider was.

Out of all known spiders, Funnel Webs literally creep me out so much that they make me feel sick.
I live in Australia 🇦🇺 near Sydney so these things frighten me no end.
I don't mind spiders usually, it's the web that freaks me out. These webs gave me chills.
