I thought I was overcoming my spider fears by watching you, and then freaked out when a spider was on the floor next to my foot. I havent jumped like that in a while, guess I'm really not over it lol
I am 38 years old now so this is how long ago it was. I remember it so well. My second grade teacher had brought in one of them huge aluminum tubs one day and said we all are to fix up a sider habitat in the tub. We had dirt on the bottom one live plant that we planted in the tub, rocks, and sticks. We then were told to keep an eye out for spiders on the playground. That same day I discovered a rather large all black jumping spider. It kept on poking its head out of the lip of the all medal slide we had in them days. I remember screaming to the top of my lungs for the teacher. Other class mates found out and all ran to get her. I picked up a dead leaf off the ground to get it to come all the way out. But before the teacher got there the spider took off down the side. I remember jumping down (and I am scared to death of spiders) and scooped the spider up in my hand. When she got to me and found out it was in my hand she told me to run to the class room. She was happy but disappointed I touched the spider without her seeing it first. Since it was our class first spider, and I found it I got to name it. It ended up being Hairy the spider. After a month we ended up with three jumping spiders and one wicked looking spider that made its web in the form of a funnel. I was amazed that none of the spider ever tried to escape and they could very easy if they wanted. Every morning the first thing we did was we had to go outside and find bugs for it to eat, and empty the moth trap by the light outside to feed them. Thinking back to them days I now realize how amazing it was. We had to draw pictures of the spiders, look in books to try and figure out what kind they were, track their feeds and what bugs they liked the best, and learned all about spiders. Now being in elementary we had our class but we had a science class that we would go to once a week. So this was something my normal teacher was not obligated to teach. It was just the teachers love for spiders the reason she did this. I am still scared of spiders today but not near as much as I was. After about two months we came in to an egg sack. After they hatched we let all the spiders go. It was a very sad day in a second grade class in Missouri. Some kids even cried when we all watched them crawl into the school garden area. Just thought I would share that story with you all. Anyone else here ever do something like this in school?

I think huntsman are SO CUTE. As well as wolf spiders and fishing spiders. They are very fast, but if you catch them while they’re chilling, they’re mesmerizing.
Hi Kat! I have experience with an adult T. blondi and in comparison to this video it seems that they retain their juvenile speed. Pretty intense 😳. I don't know much about the camel spiders but they are crazy looking! I can't wait to see a feeding video with them. I'm sorry about the casualty 😢. Another great video from my favorite TH-camr.
Never seen a black camel spider! Nice one! The huntsman spider from Aussie is related to the African rain spider. These are F1 of the spider world! As it’s a secret at the moment what an Egyptian huntsman looks like. My guess it would similar?
If you want to be able to monitor your trapdoor spiders, you can make a specialized cage for them. Use a large (gallon sized) jar or cylindrical terrarium. Find a jar that's roughly 2 - 3" narrower than it that has a lid and is preferably 4 or more inches shorter then the gallon sized container. Place the small jar, with lid on, inside the larger one directly in the center. Loosely pack substrate around the inner jar so that the jar creates a dead space and you have a ring of substrate. Continue to add substrate to where you can preferably conceal the top of the inner jar. Now wrap the jar in a piece of black aquarium background or if you can't find some, use black construction paper. Secure with fun-tack or a rubber band, nothing permanent. Now introduce your trapdoor spider and it will need to construct it's burrow close to the edge of the terrarium. The black paper keeps light from penetrating the substrate and making the spider comfortable with building closer to the outer edge. Now you can periodically remove the paper and you should be able to get a workable or sometimes awesome view into your spiders tunnel!
Email Tom Patterson for availability: TomPatterson77@gmail.com (no black camel spiders available, not affiliated or sponsored)

All the warmth and fuzziness I was beginning to feel for spiders fueled by the jumping spider vid was completely eviscerated by this one.
Wait what happened to the large boi you were unsure about?
never perked up, gonna preserve tho 😔
@@tarantulakat Aaw nooo, I'm sorry :(
@@tarantulakat sorry to hear that I was going to ask. Loved this video btw
@@tarantulakat oh no 😞 Sorry to hear that.
@@jennifertingelof-truecrime5890 oh no! Poor little guy! Sorry for your loss!
Omg I’m not sure I’ve seen anything cuter than that black camel spider. 🥰 and huntsmen are my favorite. Now I have spider fever. 😂
I love camel spiders, I didn't know they came in black! When I first looked into them it was a hard "No these things die in like three months in captivity" so I'm glad more is being learned about their care. Maybe one day I can keep on
That "Muted for family friendly content" > tomorrow I am picking up a C.sp.electric blue and C.sp.Vietnam blue both confirmed females. I think I will use all swear words known to humanity and beyond while rehousing. Chilobrachys is my favorite genus and I have many but rehousing e.g. OBT is a walk in the park.
how did the rehousing go ??
@@teabird6968 Not that bad at the end. I have many different Chilobrachys species so I was prepared but it is always an adventure. The sp. electric blue is so gorgeous!
07:27 … boris’ lockdown instructions, you must stay home, eat out to help out, work from home.. go to work 😂😂🤦🏼♀️🤣
I don't think Americans would understand this lmao!
That camel spider is terrifying
!!!!!
hahahahaha !! 3:27 "oh fu....." we ALL said it with you, Kat, lol ! That was FAST...
I used to capture and keep Solifugae (albeit smaller than the variety in the middle east). They have an incredibly insatiable appetites and no matter how many bugs I would feed them, they would completely annihilate them in mere seconds. Fascinating species!
"[muted for family friendly content]"
Same girl same LOL. 🤣❤
The intros to these last two videos have been *chefs kiss* 🤌🏻🥰
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE YOU!!!! You obviously care very much about these guys, and I’m fascinated by spiders 🕷 just not enough to have as pets. But it’s so neat to watch your vids about the care and setting up their little houses. But when they escape, ufta they’re fast!!
I am obsessed with your collection you have spiders I have never even been able to see pictures of your collection is something to be jealous of
Awe ya! Congratulations on 100k! Love your videos, keep em coming!
Those are some cool spiders! I love the way trap door spiders look...just wish we could see them more than when they are unboxed...lol. Those are some wild species you got there!
Love that the only deaths caused by huntsmans is from them turning up in unexpected places and causing accidents. Also you are right to fear their speed: 40 body lengths per second (cheetahs only manage 16).
Huntsman bebehs are a marvellous thing to have around the house. The don't leave webs anywhere and keep down the populations of pantry moths, silverfish, flies etc.
Coming face to face with a spider-cheetah in Australia taught me that I too can move incredibly fast. 😂
OMG THE CUTE LITTLE SHY CAMEL SPIDER GOING BACK INTO HIS LITTLE TRAVEL BURROW!!! I can't. Too adorable.
I had a GBB go skittering across my hand when I rehomed it. I was so scared of losing it or hurting it! Thankfully my Grammostola Pulchripes was a good girl and strolled into her new enclosure for me.
I find it fascinating that Tarantula Kat loves these different arachnids to point of keeping of keeping lots of them yet at same time seems genuinely as terrified of them as your average arachnid phobic woman ( 😱 arghhh oh noooo !! ) lol 😂 that's definition of brave! Only recently started seeing your videos love them ❤ good job x
9:32 Oh yes, these things are super fast.
Love your personality! :)
New spider day! Neat! Those stickers were badass too.
I thought I was overcoming my spider fears by watching you, and then freaked out when a spider was on the floor next to my foot. I havent jumped like that in a while, guess I'm really not over it lol
Hey man I still do the same sometimes. It’s okay 🙌🏻
Same, I screamed at the brown recluse that was on my table.
Found your channel today... liked the first video I saw (when our old male tarantula became a coitus smoothie 😔😅) ... my second one... love the realism and utter chaos 😅 ... so real ... subscribed and twitter followed... 🙂
the air plants is for sure a nice touch ! Another great vid as always 👌👌
im afraid of spiders, but fascinated by them.Whyat amazing little engineers they are.And your videos are great!
I just got some spiders from Tom Patterson this week. Based off of my first experience ordering from him I would say 10/10 would recommend and definitely plan on ordering from him again in the future.
The camel spider from the 2nd camel spider rehouse might give Usain Bolt a run for his money. 😂 This is the boltiest rehouse I’ve ever watched. Bless your heart!
Great video as always, Kat!
Hello great video unboxing and rehousing Kat
I love watching the way camel spiders eat, they're so cool.
What ever happened with the third camel spider that you had to talk to Tom Paterson about?
That's what I wanna know

I've been suggesting to petko to get a black camel spider for ages. You have won the internet today.

Okay so i live in an area of the PNW in Washington state where it gets desert hot in the summer and really cold in the winter, and i live in the mountains. One time my cat brought one of those camel spiders into my bed and dropped it on my F A C E and I woke up and jumped like 10 feet from my bed to the bathroom without touching the floor lol anyways I called them lobster spiders 'cause I didnt know what they were and now I do lol
Hi kat my computer was knackered I'm glad I have you back your goliath tarantula is brilliant 👍👍🌹

100k subscribers congratulations!!!!
I genuinely feel them crawling down the back of my neck and my spine when I watch this...
So cool though!
Another name for camel spiders is wind scorpion... because they run like the wind. They are fast! We have them out here in San Diego, even the little babies look like impossibly fast speed racers!
I think huntsman are SO CUTE. As well as wolf spiders and fishing spiders.
They are very fast, but if you catch them while they’re chilling, they’re mesmerizing.
Great vid Kat. Really enjoyed that. The screams in the last couple of videos have been really entertaining. 😂😂
Hey for the air plants you may want to put then on the cork bark rather than in/on the soil
Hey!!! Congrats on 100k subs!!!
thank you 🙏
Highly entertaining! Thank you!
That screaming Intro is priceles😂😂😂 I'm a subscriber now. Great video
So cool! Is that also the huntsman. That does the barrel roll down hills? Supper cool.
Is there an update about the large camel spider. Was it molting or did it die
WOW you have a black camel spider...this video is so refreshing. 😍 That's awesome 😍
I love kats channel its not always the same thing over an over again.
Just found your channel a few days ago. I absolutely love it and you are so funny
Thank you!
Lmaooo I swear I couldn’t stop laughing at your screams at the T Blondi escaping 😂😂😂😂😂
Never seen a black camel spider! Nice one!
The huntsman spider from Aussie is related to the African rain spider. These are F1 of the spider world! As it’s a secret at the moment what an Egyptian huntsman looks like. My guess it would similar?
Thanks for the awesome video, I am now officially in love with camel spiders :)
