- Dimash performing famous song "SOS d'un terrien en détresse (A Soul's Plea for Help)" on a Chinese rebranded version (歌手2017) of a famous Korean show "I Am a Singer (나는 가수다).

Originally called "I Am a singer (我是歌手)" the show was renamed due to the banning of Korean-related branding and artists.
"SOS d'un terrien en détresse" is a song composed by Michel Berger and written by Luc Plamondon in 1978 for their famous French/Québécois rock opera "Starmania" that first premiered in Paris, 1979.
In 1978, its first recording was released, sub-titled Starmania, ou la passion de Johnny Rockfort selon les évangiles télévisés ("Starmania, or the Passion of Johnny Rockfort According to the Televised Gospels") with the leading roles filled by Daniel Balavoine, Claude Dubois, Diane Dufresne, Nanette Workman, France Gall, Eric Esteve and Fabienne Thibeault.
In 1979 the show was given its theatrical debut in Paris, starring Balavoine, Étienne Chicot, Dufresne, Gall, and Thibeault, followed by Canadian productions in 1980 and 1986 and French revivals in 1988 and throughout the 1990s.
The 1980 Canadian production had a cast that included France Castel, Louise Forestier, Gilles Valiquette, and Martine St-Clair.
Later in 1992, an English version of the show was created with the release of the album Tycoon, with lyrics by Tim Rice, and starring Kim Carnes, Celine Dion, Nina Hagen, Peter Kingsbery, Cyndi Lauper, Willy Deville, and Tom Jones in the principal roles on the recording.
The song was first performed by a famous French artist Daniel Balavoine, also known as Bala and "french chayanne" and became a hit.
The song covered by many artists like Norman Groulx , Renaud Hantson, Bruno Pelletier , Grégory Lemarchal , Daniel Popovic, Laurent Bàn, but one of the most memorable and famous perfomance of the cover was done by a French singer Grégory Lemarchal a winner of the fourth series of the reality TV programme Star Academy France. He rose to fame thanks to his angelic voice and won the hearts of millions by his music, his bright personality and pure heart, an angel.
Daniel Balavoine was one of his idols as he was an inspiration for many artists and people in general, being one of the biggest names in France in his times and the Memory, the Legacy and Love for both of them is as strong as ever today.
Grégory's performance of the song played a big role for Dimash in his preparation for this performance.

Это выступление в Китае я увидел случайно . Прокрутил его 3 раза и с тех пор , поклонник Димаша . Каждое его исполнение приводит меня в восторг ! Пишу в поддержку Димаша и таких как я .

Я пытался проводить эксперимент со своими знакомыми - те, у кого в душе осталась хоть немного чистого и светлого, были в восторге от Димаша (мурашки, слезы, волосы дыбом и т.д.), а те, в ком черти, начинали шипеть, типа "обычный пискля, фигня, уши режет" и т.д. Случайность? Не думаю. Всем добра и мира!

This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and doesn't speak any Chinese] , and least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode].
This was the first time the China audience and other performers in the back room on the show heard him sing. Between his first performance ["S.O.S." in French] and his 2nd performance [Vita's "Opera 2" in Russian], he quickly won their hearts completely.
