I loved it! You are right. This is a very hard song to sing to begin with but Dimash took it to another level. He sound it like 4 different persons while singing. We heard tenor, baritone, bass and soprano. I will send you more links to his performance!
This was actually the first performance for the China competition's new season of The Singer 2017 [which was why the crowd was excited for it to start at the beginning] -- but what is often overlooked is that he was pretty much a complete unknown to that audience [he's from Kazakhstan and doesn't speak any Chinese] , and least expected or anticipated to do much since he was pretty much unknown to the audience [which is why he was placed to go first -- the most anticipated singers were set to perform last on that episode]. This was the first time the China audience and other performers on the show heard him sing. Between his first performance ["S.O.S." in French] and his 2nd performance [Vita's "Opera 2" in Russian], he quickly won their hearts completely.
He is from another planet. He is only 24 and can sing his sole out. I do not know what he is saying most of the time but you cannot stop watching and listening to him . He is making Opera contemporary. Love to watch your reaction .QUITE refreshing.

I did the same as you listened to parts over and over cause I couldn't believe what I just heard! His voice has an unearthly quality to it, not just the amazing range but there is something magically healing about it......reaching the soul and lifting it up. I Have to hear it daily now, melts the ills of the world away with each note. Dimash is a gift of God his full name, Dinmukhamed means exactly that.

The song is from the amazing French Rock opera Starmania by Daniel Balavoine (who died young and was a genius) and Luc Plamondon. I’m Swiss and discovered Starmania when living in France. It has many more amazing songs.
