This day, last year, I was job hunting as a software dev. I switched from Industrial Engineering to IT a year before that. It was an arduous journey. But perseverance paid off. Next DEC marks the 1st anniversary of me calling myself a software engineer. I am 33 this year btw.
thank you.. i needed this as a tap to help me keep going .. i think i have critical thinking and problem solving mind, but am so bad at math... hahaha.. not really bad, just lazy for numbers..
I believe at this point of time, it’s not about the timeliness and aptitude to learn coding, but it’s about the current economic and industry climate. The hype of AI is not helping SWEs either. With so many layoffs leading to higher barrier of entry, I believe you should opine on this point to better reflect your opinion on reality.
@@dericjyyee Understand where you are coming from. But even when it comes to age, shouldn’t you be talking about how age plays a factor in employer’s recruitment decision? Since age discrimination is a real issue especially in tech
@@XDMico age discrimination is a whole different topic. Of course the benefits of learning a new skill when you’re older reduces with each year you age relative to you learning a new skill when you’re young. This is standard across all industries The topic I’m talking about on this video is on taking action to enable yourself to live the life you want.
My first TH-cam comment, really thought this channel had 100k subscribers. You're underrated considering the quality of your content. Keep it up!
Wow! This made my day!
Glad it helped. Comments like these make me keep going!
This is truly motivational indeed! Trying to learn Python, web dev tools and it's definitely a struggle everyday, btw I'm 54 and not giving up...
You have all my respect! It’s not easy, but as long as you put in the work, 1 day at a time, you will get there 🙏👍🤝

I failed too many times to mention. Coding changed my perception on so many things and I'm tougher because of it. All the best 👍
Good to hear! All the best to you too🎉
