Thank you for clarification, I just started coding class 🤞
Having a need to be perfect can also be a huge fail. Failing is where the magic happens as tough as that is to admit. Dankie vir jou videos❤
That's correct. You're welcome! All the best!
Stop learning for learning's sake 🤣 🤣 That caught me off guard
for real tho!
This is truly motivational indeed! Trying to learn Python, web dev tools and it's definitely a struggle everyday, btw I'm 54 and not giving up...
You have all my respect! It’s not easy, but as long as you put in the work, 1 day at a time, you will get there 🙏👍🤝
I failed too many times to mention. Coding changed my perception on so many things and I'm tougher because of it. All the best 👍
Good to hear! All the best to you too🎉
@@dericjyyee Baie dankie my vriend 💪
thank you.. i needed this as a tap to help me keep going .. i think i have critical thinking and problem solving mind, but am so bad at math... hahaha.. not really bad, just lazy for numbers..
Just keep going! Level up a little bit every day
I believe at this point of time, it’s not about the timeliness and aptitude to learn coding, but it’s about the current economic and industry climate. The hype of AI is not helping SWEs either. With so many layoffs leading to higher barrier of entry, I believe you should opine on this point to better reflect your opinion on reality.
@@XDMico this video is specifically on age. Another one soon on AI!
@@dericjyyee Understand where you are coming from. But even when it comes to age, shouldn’t you be talking about how age plays a factor in employer’s recruitment decision? Since age discrimination is a real issue especially in tech
@@XDMico age discrimination is a whole different topic. Of course the benefits of learning a new skill when you’re older reduces with each year you age relative to you learning a new skill when you’re young. This is standard across all industries The topic I’m talking about on this video is on taking action to enable yourself to live the life you want.

My first TH-cam comment, really thought this channel had 100k subscribers. You're underrated considering the quality of your content. Keep it up!
Wow! This made my day! Glad it helped. Comments like these make me keep going!

Glad you like it 🎉
Hello Deric, just came across the video, and I really liked how the script presented the brain and learning as tools. I'm looking forward to more valuable content in the future!
Glad it was helpful!
so true on setting useful rules that prevent potential problems for communication! saves so much time when "middle man" is almost always involved
@@Carol-jb6ld 100% , glad u can relate to

polymath > generalist
I call it a t shaped generalist!
you've likely read the book but i still think its relevant to pop the quote in the comments. “The future belongs to those who learn more skills and combine them in creative ways.” ― Robert Greene, Mastery The main concept of skill stacking points back to this heavily. Thank you for the video!
Thanks for sharing this! It's been on my to-read list but haven't got to it. Been living my life with this mindset since 5 years ago and i've just started to see the fruits of labour. never looked back ever since! All the best on your journey too!
@@dericjyyee That''s amazing that you're reaping the fruits of your labour man. I'm a lil younger than you (i think) so hopefully I can join the club soon, and I gotta say its refreshing to find people who are on this path. Do you have twitter or instagram by any chance? Would love to connect with you, seem like a cool dude
is version control also important?
Definitely!
@@dericjyyee how many projects do u think are sufficient to apply for entry level or junior level job, and also how complex those projects should look like, something like authentication etc should be covered?
@@the_anonymous369 as long as you covered the items in the video you should be good enough to try for entry level roles! Instead of adding more and more things I rather focus on doing the few things extremely well! Everything else boils down to your communication skills & luck
@@dericjyyee thanks for the reply and thoughts man
I am interested in software engineering
@@furqantarique3484 go for it 👍
One question, how do you find your first employers after having built some Projects and having acquired the necessary skills for web or app development?
My first ones - I relied entirely on cold reachout to my social circle: Friends, friends of friends, relatives, etc. Just putting the word out there that I'm doing this and i can help them out. Be honest that you're new! They're likely to give you a shot if you're not asking for a salary too high. this is the standard path i would recommend as juniors. Only after stacking some projects, testimonials, case studies under your belt, will i explore using tools to automate cold reachouts, linkedin, digital ads, etc. Those really helped me scale my business. perhaps in another video!
I don't know why TH-cam recommended this to me, but it's really helpful, especially now that I'm awaiting my graduation (Bsc. Mathematics and Computer Science) and I'm jobless.
That's probably why! Just focus on the key pointers in this video. All the best!
👍🏼👍🏼
Inspirational as always! All the best to your endeavors!
thank you!
Its really hard for me to get out of tutorial hell and finding the right difficulty. Sometimes its too easy then it gets really hard. Not to mention coding in general is hard, Im not convinced anyone can learn to code. Feels like im too dumb but sadly i will never know for sure, very frustrating!
