When I was a child Stonehenge was completely open just in a field. The road they have closed down the side of it, we used to park up on the verge and go for a wander all around the stones and able to go in the middle. It was magic. Horrible when it was closed off and even worse now that they are putting the existing road into a tunnel so you won't even see it from the road so taking our wonderful Stonehenge away from us forever. This was in the 1960s and 1970s. It was not enclosed with and admission fee until the 1980s
I went to school down the road from them in the 1960s, and was lucky enough to walk amongst them, and touch them as there were no restrictions back then.
I love having my collages in my art journal because I can look back on them, get fresh ideas & remember those moments! Yes, I make too many to hang them all! 😂

Hello Froyle, thank you for your inspiration! I was at Stonehenge in 1975 and could just touch and hug the stones, you could still walk in between. That was a special moment. Although I only realized later how special. If I had known that people could only walk around it now, I would have gone much more often. And a few years ago I was there with our small camper and there was a trade path where you could stand. Very special in the night always looking at the stones.

Hi Froyle, I live in West Wales near the Preseli HIlls where the Blue Stones at Stone Henge originated. I love to roam those hills and the villages where you find several stone circles and a recreated village from those ancient times. Its just wonderful. Thank our for this inspiring video, including ancient stones in my art is one of my favourite things to do.
