To safely explore the world by sailboat one needs to be flexible. The world oceans are full of terrifying weather, but if we’re patient, modern weather forecasting allows us to pick the perfect weather window for the vast majority of short passages. So in a lot of ways the most dangerous aspect of sailing is when, for whatever reason, you can’t be flexible. As legendary sailor Lyn Pardey put it, “The most dangerous thing in cruising is a calendar."
But this week we confront that danger head on as we’ve only got a few days to sail all the way to Porto Heli Marina so we can leave the boat and fly to the united states where we have appointments for specialists can assess Isabella’s medical condition. But we’ve got a problem, between us and our destination lies one of the most treacherous headlands in the entire Mediterranean. Cape Maleas is infamous for it’s rough seas, sudden weather changes, and strong currents. In antiquity the cape was known as "the Cape of Storms" and it was so feared by sailors that they would make offerings to Poseidon in an attempt to secure safe passage around it. So although we’ve got some amazing sights to see along the way, we’ve got to ask Poseidon to forgive us for having a schedule so that we can safely make it to Isabella's medical appointments, half a world away.

Another wonderful video, I really don't know how get so much in each episode. Your eloquence and videography are gifts to us (and everyone "aboard")! My heart is with you as you travel back to the states for Isa. Years ago we flew to and from Memphis to St. Jude Children't research hospital with our youngest. Sending you strength, energy, and hope for every day. Love your meditation routine. I began journaling years ago and have made it a meditative practice. Mark Nepo's Book of Awakening is my starting point. Highly recommend. My copy is ragged, full of underlines and highlights, then I began using colored pencils to draw and shade the feelings. I treasure this book. His journey, his heart, his wisdom, his words...balm to the soul. Peace to you this day and all days.

Was on a cruise (Silver Wind) from Athens to Venice a while back and it included Monemvasia. We got off the ship and went into town, It was beautiful but I got a dizzy spell and, just in case, returned to the ship before really being able to explore too much but it was really nice. Glad to have seen the footage here. TBH, my favorite port of the cruise turned out to be Kotor in Montenegro - absolutely stunning.

I understand your concern about leaving Oso (?sp) at that place, but hopefully you are right and after a couple hours he’ll be like, “ok, this is my new place. cool.”

Oh You Guys! How amazing your channel is and your story is incredible! I will keep your family in my prayers for safe travels, that Atticus II will be fine while you are gone, that Oso (sp?) will enjoy his time at the boarding kennel and most of all for Isa that all will turn out well and good for her. I have some meditation vlogs from Dr. Wayne Dyer that I listen to before sleep. He has been an inspirational figure in my life. I have watched many of his PBS videos and also read many of his books. The Power of Intention is one of my favorites. Good luck and safe travels back to USA!
I know you've probably been told this a thousand times before, but I have to add my voice: you are giving the most precious gift to your daughter with these adventures (while also gifting yourselves, how awesome is that?)... My only suggestion is to maybe do it all again when she is 4, so that she has some memories of it throughout her life. I'm sure it is already doing her a world of good to have these experiences, whether she consciously remembers them later or not though. But hey, perhaps great to have an excuse to set sail again in a couple of years?
I will never be able to thank my mother enough for the many times she took me to Greece when I was small. And I will never be able to fully express what those memories mean to me. Just seeing your baby girl tasting the apricot (Greek apricots!), experiencing the beach, the sand, the reflections on the water - it brings back to me all the things I can't adequately express, and that I value so much. So yeah. She'll probably thank you later (especially if you take her again when she's of an age to remember), but for now... I'm thanking you on her behalf.

I was just thinking , how about the dog...Its a huge problem for many destinations to fly with them... leaving them behind may not feel great but is probably the best thing you could do for Bozo. He'll have friends and be happy when you come back. Good luck in Boston ! Hope all goes well

I would make a boring sailer because regardless the appointment or plan, I leave early to allow for RR crossings, car accidents, or other unplanned events (like weather). I am always early for that reason, however having spent a lot of years in the military, there is no such thing or an excuse for being fashionably late.
Depending on whether my goal is sleep or relaxation, I listen to low frequency music which studies have shown to contribute to sound sleep, or prayer which is more productive use of time which some call mediation, or unproductive time spent on other methods of meditation.

I like to take advantage of my states relaxed laws on consuming Marijuana to be able to clear my head. As a father of three I don't know how anyone can function without a break from the constant everyday grind. Lifes freaking tough to say the least so take a break from time to time to enjoy your life if even just for a few moments a day. Meditation is great I just like the advanced level I get into it by consuming cannabis. 100% legally of course. Loving the episodes as usual. Always a great message and beautiful scenery. Yes. Also discuss what you have been feeding her. If the doctors doesn't have a clue about what a clean diet should consist of and what is easiest for a baby to digest ie fruits and veg then seek a second opinion from a Naturopathic Doctor even if your "insurance won't pay for it". What your insurance pays for is NOT the ideal. Millions of people will AGREE to that based on first hand experience.
I can only imagine the culture change that will take place when you land in Boston. Isabella is always smiling. That's a good sign of a happy temperament.

On Atticus 1, did you have a 3-4 ft sheet track just besides the cabin on the forward deck below the opening ports? I have hull #75 1966 30 ft.
