I feel for Janet, 1993 was both the best & worst of times for her. While she was having all of this success (the "janet." album, "Poetic Justice"), she was dealing with crap behind the scenes too. The allegations against her brother Michael, which cost her a huge deal with Coca Cola & both Singleton and Tupac using a tacky publicity stunt to damage her reputation just to promote the film. Thankfully, she was vindicated. Especially with those Golden Globe & Oscar nominations. And Tupac apologized to her too before he passed away. Thank u for the video DRMS TV, another masterpiece.❤
@@joshuamcdowell9745 That was one lucky man,I envied him at that time. Didn't Janet have Rene sign some form of paper-work to prevent him from writing a tell all book or giving out information on their time together ??? I don't know what it's called.
Omg!! I really enjoyed this video! ❤❤❤❤ I love Poetic Justice as I’ve seen it a million times and it never gets old to me! What a great cast & it was so relatable to what black love looks like in the hood. RIP John Singleton & Tupac ❤
I find it so interesting that the narrative that Janet Jackson was “snooty” or “too good” for Tupac, based on the HIV testing, really stemmed from the same reason Janet said it was hard being a woman. She received the ridicule, but it was all based upon men’s egos who were so fascinated with her physical appearance. The same story plays out with Justin Timberlake, her and the Super Bowl. She recieved the blame and ridicule, while he only grew.
Poetic Justice is unabashedly a black film. If you wanna see something that is deeply rooted about the black culture in america- Then that's what you watch. And I love that Janet took the role because this film stood the test of time
Janet’s always been proud to be a black woman she’s always unapologetically black but also wasn’t trying to be something she was not. I think people get this twisted a lot.
DRMS TV does it again!! In this era when MOST things on TV [& streaming services] suck, the homie came thru in the clutch with a banger. Now I got something to watch after work while eating dinner lol!!! Keep it up bro & please don't ever change your style lol!!
The man who directed the film "Twelve years a slave" didn't win an oscar as best director ??? I know this masterpiece won 5 academy awards including Best Film of the year.
Iconic & timeless piece of art once again. Thanks to you to enlighten this part of urban culture history with these 2 legends ! ❤ I always thought that Janet was a good underrated actress and I feel the same way about Pac. I like their chemistry in this film. I want to see J.J. in more mainstream films. She has the skills for it. Her acting career blossomed in the early 80's with Fame so Madam has the experience and the talent ! That old stupid Superbowl accident is old news and should be forgotten, her career deserves a second chance in music and acting ! It's time.
I love Poetic Justice, it's definitely a classic. I always get annoyed at Pac and John spreading that unnecessary rumor about Janet. She didn't do anything to deserve that and she received so much flack about that rumor for YEARS, right up until John debunked it.
It’s a comforting film, something I enjoyed as a kid & now that I’m grown. It’s something that can’t be made over by anyone, I wish it was longer. It’s a black film that is a staple in our community. Just how set it off is or brown sugar, the wood, or even inkwell. It’s a film that feels authentic & homey, relatable. So I love to watch it
This was a great video! I remember seeing this as a little girl. It hits so different seeing it as an adult. John was a jewel and blessing to the culture. ❤❤❤❤ 🕊️
This move is one of my favorites and I still watch it. 2pac is one of my favorite rappers. I wish he was still living to be honest. It’s also funny how people tell me that I smile like Janet Jackson. I don’t smile much since then.

Latoya was... trying to do it. Don't do Latoya like that 😂😂 The publicity stunt was stupid and it still affects Janet years later. Janet was a married woman and she kept Rene right by her side. Even if she was looking at Tupac as more than a co-star, she kept it professional and remained mindful of her status as a married woman.
I think it’s because this film acknowledged that black boys living in homes led by single mothers is the root cause of their issues. The film accurately points out that black boys raised by black men have better outcomes. This went against the common narrative at the time that praised and glorified single motherhood.
While I do love the movie Poetic Justice, I don't think that it was the best depiction of a Black woman's life from a downtrodden background. If anything, Set It Off did a better job of that a couple years later. Poetic Justice still involves a Black woman revolving her life largely around falling in love and being with a man. We don't see as much detail about the character, or even what she wants out of life beyond her dealing with the trauma of losing a man (granted in a very traumatic way), and learning to open up to another... and her love for poetry. Even when we see the other female characters in poetic justice, they're either one-dimensional (Lucky's baby mama), or again, there's not a lot of information about their background or aspirations (Justice's friend). By comparison, Set It Off tells the story of multiple Black women, not just one, from that same downtrodden background, but from four different examples of black women from that rough background. While falling in love was part of the story for one character, the movie was really about the challenges that Black women face in society, and what consequences can be in the event that Black women choose not to play by the rules of a racist and sexist society. Not to knock Poetic Justice in any way, because it is still an amazing movie, and the cast ATE on their performances. But arguably, I think Set It Off has the better depiction of Black women's experiences in the ghetto, as well as general society.
LOL. No pressure, but just so I know, is your schedule kinda one BANGER per month? That way if we don't hear from you in a while, we know to check monthly bro? Again thanks for the banger to watch later on. [I just made sure to hit the "ALL" bell to be notified whenever you drop content btw]

John spread it, Tupac actually thought it was true
Maybe if Latoya had tried acting she may have found her calling. The family definitely had the natural potential for it.
